My only complaint, it was a tiny bit warmer than I'm accustomed to in a movie theater. I really like it FRIGID and then you bring a little hoodie. And it might be in my top two for the area.

At the Ohio Movie Theater on Main Street there is a Bronze Star on the sidewalk talking about the movie, the stars and the movie Premiere that was held here in Madison at the Ohio Theater.. The Ohio Theatre was built in 1938 and is located in the small Ohio River town of Madison, Indiana. The site where the theater sits first housed a nickelodeon in the early-1900's, then a movie theatre called the Little Grand Theatre, which burned in 1937. Rebuilt as the Ohio Theatre in 1938, it ran first run movies until it closed in 1993. Renovated and reopened in 1996, the now-twinned Ohio continues to show mid-run family targeted movies (no R-rated films) and also operates as a venue for various live events throughout the year.

The screens and sound quality are great, which makes watching movies a fun experience. The ticket prices are reasonable, and I've never had any issues with customer service. I would definitely recommend Xscape to anyone looking for a good place to watch a movie.

The YES Cinema & Conference Center is the premiere theatre in Columbus, Indiana when it comes to…read morethe indie/arthouse scene including alternative, cultural, and educational films along with the occasional cinematic classics. They also do run first-run features - for example, Black Adam is currently screening and they will be getting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the new Avatar flick among others. The YES Cinema is run by a Columbus, Indiana non-profit called Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center, an area organization that assists numerous support systems, i.e. neighborhood improvement, education and employment development, health education. and more. This is a smaller theatre with only two screens. However, it's a well cared for cinema and they host the annual YES Film Festival that just ran this past weekend. You can also rent spaces for business meetings, private screenings and corporate and private parties. YES Cinema's two screens have relatively newer chairs, though they fall short of the more premium/luxury seating options available in a lot of theaters these days. That said, they're quite nice compared to a lot of indie/arthouse options you will find. The screens also do offer Dolby digital surround sound (which is fairly standard for most cinema chains, however, not always for smaller theaters or arthouse cinemas). The employees I met were friendly, the location in downtown Columbus is convenient, parking is free and plentiful, and accessibility is overall quite solid including parking, entryways, and screens. The theatre is clean inside and out and I was super comfortable. In terms of snacks, they do serve wine and beer here. You are not allowed to take in food or drinks of your own and they also have a notice that backpacks are not allowed. You can get a free small popcorn on your birthday (with ID and only on your actual birthday). Fun facts? The first film shown at YES Cinema was White Christmas (2004). The film "Columbus" holds the box-office record for sales at YES Cinema (which is incredibly appropriate - not only is the film set in Columbus, but it was actually filmed in Columbus). Under ordinary circumstances, I'd probably stick with a 4-star rating for the cinema. However, there are two reasons I'm offering up the 5-star: 1) Because of the cinema's charitable roots it really is a movie theater that benefits a great cause. 2) Ticket prices for movies are typically $5 - that's right around half most theaters and even less than some matinee prices here in Indy. They do sometimes charge more for special events, but their prices make it affordable for families and for those on a limited income. There's an awful lot to love here. If I lived near Columbus, I'd be here all the time. If you're in the Columbus area, I definitely recommend it. It may not quite measure up to your more premium cinemas, but it's an awesome little theatre and one of Indiana's true cinema gems.

There are never more than a couple of people selling tickets up front, so plan ahead. The plus is that means there's less of a crush at the concession stand, which typically has a handful of folks working at busy times. Ticket prices are relatively low, especially when compared to more urban areas. They do a few promos here and there and have the AMC points program. The snack bar is more extensive than most small town movie theaters. Their combos and sizing are, though, completely ridiculous. There's thimble sized, then there's vat sized (with free refills), with nothing in between, for both soda and popcorn. I understand that profits are in concessions, but seriously? This is just madness and more likely to keep customers from making a purchase at all, because they're stuck with wasting their money on food they don't want and can't eat. Every once in awhile during particularly busy times (think: the day after Thanksgiving) the bathrooms get out of hand, but it's rare for there to be a significant line for a stall, even for the women's facilities. I appreciate that the staff, uber-friendly as they are, are effective and professional about removing people causing disruptions. The transition to AMC lost a lot of this place's small town charm, but at least the staff are still trying to do a good job within their new chain's corporate structure.

Things I noticed as a fellow service industry worker: -When it's a busy Sunday and you expect your regular rush of people, it makes zero sense to have 8 people taking orders and 1 person cooking. People would much rather wait in line to order than wait for their food. -This location had ONE individual working in the open kitchen. This individual was very clearly in the weeds and needed support whether they asked for it or not. I saw TWO managers in black shirts (one man, one woman) with ear pieces walk into and by this kitchen and do nothing. The male manager was behind the counter in the kitchen multiple times essentially ignoring the staff member really struggling. It was clear to my partner and I that this staff member was getting close to breaking down - rightfully so - and it was really awful to see. -customers ahead of us in line got very verbally upset and instead of a MANAGER coming to do the work that a manager is responsible for, they allowed this poor staff member take all of the heat for something that was 100% not their fault. Truthfully, I think the managers and the one other staff member I saw in the kitchen (who was being incredibly rude to the struggling worker) owe her a MASSIVE apology. Unless the ear piece managers had something of exponential importance going on - there was absolutely no reason they should have ignored her and walked away. It was really uncomfortable to watch and frankly, this was enough to make me not want to return. I know I am just one person but I know that if I saw it, others did too. The managers here are not what I would consider managers if they actively avoid a problem and upset customers. I hope that the one staff member in the kitchen finds a place that will speak to her with respect and grace instead of belittling and rolling eyes at her. If an employee is outwardly defeated and on the verge of tears - do your job and MANAGE.
