My very best latte was in Chiapas, Mexico. And the brownie--ah best brownie ever! Seriously, I've had my fair share of brownies and have my favorites back home, but this one with the cashews and chocolate brought me back to the best chocolate cake I had in Bryggen, Bergen. So good, I also ordered another one for later--great decision! :) The croissant was also yummy and the white chocolate raspberry scone was good. The avocado toast with paprika however was a little bland with the bread a little too doughy for me. But still edible. Very friendly staff, nice views of Alesund, great coffee. Highly recommend!

Food with a…read moreview Fjellstua Cafeteria is actually two restaurants, one is a fancy place up on top and the other is a casual café type of place on the bottom. I didn't buy anything in the fancy restaurant but the cafe area has the typical food that you would expect. What you probably won't expect are the prices. But this is Norway and until you get use to it just about everything is shocking expensive once you convert your dollars into Norwegian Krone. The restaurant wouldn't be anything special if it wasn't for the fact it's up on top of Aksla Mountain with stunning views in all directions. There is a road going up but the fun way is climbing the four hundred something steep steps that start from the Alesund City Park. Really cool the way the steps kind of meander up the side of the mountain, complete with little lookout platforms with transparent bottoms. Not really that difficult if you take your time and enjoy the views on the way up. Once on top there are bathrooms as well as the cafeteria and some hiking trails that go off in different directions. You can get something to eat and drink up on top but be prepared to pay for it. The real reason most people climb those stairs are the views from the top. And those are always free.

We just had coffee after we got the since we had limited time and wanted to enjoy the views as much as possible. This is a must visit spot when you are in Alesund.

They have a nice outdoor patio but due to thy non- stop drizzle we couldn't take advantage. Service was very quick and helpful. After a beer we ordered one pepparoni pizza and one with parma ham and pesto both were very tasty and a good size. We were able to take the extra back to our Airbnb since we had a fridge. Prices were Norway high but after almost two weeks here we have become numb to the cost.

We dined on the patio, which was great because the day was very sunny and created for the ideal patio experience. Today I went back to get carryout, a margarita pizza with added pepperoni. The restaurant is doing something right because it was busy both and full at both of my visits. If I ever visit Alesund again, I'll for sure make my way back to Anno.

Hubby ordered the Norway Tapas plate, which included brown toasted bread, dried cod fish fried balls, marinated crawfish, salad, sausage, and garlic mayo. The cod fish balls were amazing, and reminded me of croquettes from Spain. Hubby liked everything, but the sausage was just okay. I had the fish soup. The bowl is HUGE! And it is delicious! It's creamy, and contained large chunks of cod fish, crawfish, and carrot slices. For dessert, we shared the apple cake with ice cream, whipped cream, and caramel sauce. We liked the cake, but honestly we were a little let down, because that afternoon, we sampled the apple cake in the cafe of the Ålesund Aquarium. Surprisingly, the apple cake at the aquarium was way better, as the cake was a nice pound cake with lots of layered apples on top and in the cake. The apple cake at a Lyspunktet is lighter and doesn't contain that much apple. Overall though, great meal at Lyspunktet, highly recommend!

All in all, whether you're getting coffee to go, or sitting at the cafe, the experience is very hospitable :)
