While this happened to me, I did try everything, and I cleaned every plate! The food was so good! The wines were all paired perfectly (I did not like the wine served with dessert but that's a me thing, I don't care of the bubbles). The king fish, served in brown butter and soy was amazing. The monk fish in a lobster bisque...wow. Lamb was amazing as was the light dessert that had rhubarb, white chocolate and the delicious foam made from yogurt and cheese. Sometimes you got to just say f**k it and trust the chef. I'm glad I did.

The ordering experience was easy, made even easier by the allergens listed clearly on the menu (milk, egg, fish, sulfites, wheat, celery, mustard, barley, lactose, nuts). I can't eat gluten & was delighted when I saw how well everything was marked. Norway beats the US in every way when it comes to allergy awareness. Our favorite dish was the cod from Midsund - the cauliflower puree was incredible. My only critique was how close the tables were to each other. We were seated at a 2-top against a half wall which separated the restaurant. There was a couple seated at another 2-top directly on the other side of the half wall. I was within arms length of them. It felt like we were sitting at the same table, which was very uncomfortable. I don't mind sitting close to other patrons in a casual, bustling restaurant, but this was a intimate, high-end dinner spot. We felt like we had no privacy in our own conversation. Other than that, we enjoyed our experience. It was extra nice to be able to get back to our hotel room without even going outside.

Brick oven style! Soft crust, fresh made. Fresh tomato sauce that wasn't over powering. And a very nice balance of cheese! Best of all, the pizza came out lighting fast! We barely sat down and Wham! There was a pizza in front of us! Best of all was the spicy olive oil to add to the pizza!! My colleague had the Tortelloni ricotta og spinat. While I didn't taste this dish I could tell he enjoyed the Tortelloni immensely! I had the Arrabbiata. What a lovely balance of amount of sauce to pasta ratio. The flavor was not overly spicy, but enough to be very pleasant! The pasta was cooked to a tender texture. What a Wonderful combination to find! Desert was to icing on the cake! Ice cream and Tiramisu! The Tiramisu was a simple and well balance combination of flavor and texture. I believe it was a family recipe as I was told! Second night was started with the Margherita pizza again! Speedy and just as high a quality as our first! A perfect start to dinner! My colleague had the Quattro Farmaggi (with chicken added). His comment was this was even better than our first night! I would agree! Me? The Pappardelle speciali. Truffle, Mushrooms and Bresaola. Absolutely done right! No one ingredient was overpowering the others. Just a wonderful dish to enjoy! Do yourself a favor, don't miss Noona Lina! I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed! I will be back!

OMG, there is actually amazing pizza in Ålesund, Norway! My husband and I were skeptical that we'd…read morefind crusty, wood fired pizza in Norway, but color us surprised 'cause it was damn good! And as a native New Yorker, I'm pretty picky about pizza, and I was pretty impressed. We ordered the Antipasto appetizer, which included two slices of pizza bread, several sliced meats, one tuna bruschetta, one tomato bruschetta, a half baked tomato, a slice of stuffed squash, and a date stuffed with cheese topped with pine nuts, olives, and a baked pesto pasta. Everything was delicious, except for the baked pasta, which was undercooked. Then came the pizza. We split the "Calabrese," which includes tomato sauce, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, pepperoni, and a little bit of greens. OMG, that pizza was amazing! The crust was crunchy and chewy just like a NYC pizza crust. They use a wood fired oven, but I wonder if the Norwegian water has anything to do with the yumminess. There was just the right amounts of cheese, and the pepperoni was sliced thin and long, different than in the US. We ate every last piece of that 'za! The owner told us that the pizza chef is from Italy, and they order all their ingredients from Italy as well. Drinks: My husband ordered their locally brewed beer, which came in a bottle with a Nona Lina label on it. So clearly, it is a very local beer! It was pretty decent beer, but we couldn't decide definitively the style of beer. My husband thinks it's a pale ale. I thought it tasted more malty than hoppy. I ordered an apple juice, which came in a cute bottle, and tasted more like apple cider than juice. Dessert: OMG, you must try the vanilla pannacotta with the strawberry sauce! We went up to the bar area to pay our bill, but then got distracted by the dessert case. They had several delicious looking desserts, but we decided to go simple. The vanilla pannacotta was out of this world! So creamy, silky, not too sweet, and the strawberry sauce was perfect. Overall, wonderful dining experience! The food was great, the decor was homey and warm, and the service was wonderful. Our meal ended up costing 610 NOK, about $76, with current conversion rates. It is pricey, but all food and drinks in Norway are crazy expensive, so this is probably a mid-level priced meal. If you are trying to save some money, they do have a lunch special from Tuesdays to Fridays, where a selection of their pizzas are cheaper starting at 104 NOK.

All tables were full, so we waited about 15 minutes to sit down. Upon sitting, our server immediately brought water. The menus are already on the table with entrees described in both Norwegian and English. Two of us ordered the Lyst Bacalao Gryte and two of us ordered the Gratinert Torsk and we ordered the fish soup and shrimp and seafood salad. All four items were delightful. The Bacalao is a traditional and popular food item in Ålesund. The cod was perfectly cooked in a tomato broth with vegetables and potato purée. The Torsk was also cod but served gratin with vegetables and bacon. The soup was rich and creamy and the salad was lighter, with crisp lettuce covered in small shrimp and smoked salmon. We left with full bellies, completely delighted by the food. Having eaten many places, I think this restaurant is in my top 10-15 restaurants ever! A MUST try when in Ålesund!!!

I ordered the fish and chips based on the server's recommendation and it was food, nothing spectacular, but that is what I expected. My co-traveler had the Tex-mex (taco) salad and really liked her meal. I had been feeling excellent this entire trip until about 2 hours after this meal and then the vomiting started. It's now 8am and I am empty and feeling good again, but definitely won't be back. The funny thing was that the woman at the next table ordered it right after me and was told it was out, so where did they find mine? The atmosphere is casual and very nice, the servers were great. I don't like to write bad reviews, but when I get this sick so soon after I need to let them and others know.
