The fish in the fish stew was very overcooked and...seafoody (not in the good way). Would not recommend. Tasted like they used day-old fish. Fish and chips were solid, and I really liked the pea mash, but nothing extraordinary. The seafood pasta was probably the best thing here: the sauce was creamy, rich, and tomatoey, with notes of fennel and white wine. Stopped here for lunch, there were only two other tables with people dining. Service was pretty slow.. and the food took a long time to come to our table. We shared the Raviolo with shellfish and lemongrass velouté as well as the Klippfisk with pancetta which came with a potato puree, savoy cabbage, in a pea and spinach sauce. I didn't care for the klippfisk, there was an odd flavor in the fish that kept throwing me off. I enjoyed the single raviolo, but was left wanting more. Absolutely amazing gem of a place we found during our stop in Ålesund. After exploring the island for a couple hours we wanted to stop to eat before having to depart and were in the mood for some seafood. After a brief search we decided on this cute little place and we're glad we did. The fish soup was spectacular and filling and definitely welcome after a cooler day. The inside was very small with only about 8 tables and every one was filled and overall very quaint. Service was quick and professional and we definitely recommend stopping by if you have time!! read more

Delicious! We ordered: fish and chips (the mushy peas were amazing!) gnocchi (like pillows!) fish of the day (halibut and yummy!) and poke bowl (so good that my son ordered a second one.) The best item was the halibut ceviche- perfection. Our server was informative about the city too! read more

We called 1 hour before we came in, total 21 people. The owner let us have 3 limited choices, the cook was not showing much specialties, but extremely salty. Because of salty, we need more bread, the owner charged for extra bread. read more

This was one of those pleasant surprises. While in Norway we decided that it would be foolish to go back aboard our ship for lunch with all of the fresh seafood here. We had no idea where to go but this place looked nice from the outside so the eight of us walked in. The interior was nice as well and all of the tables were filled. (a good sign) There were only about a half dozen or so but luckily a few were finishing up and about to leave. We only had to wait about 10 minutes so we checked out the menu while we waited. They provided an American (English) speaking menu as well which is always a good idea in a port city. Our waitress was very sweet in spite of the obvious language barrier. I split a seafood platter with my wife that was out of this world!!! They only make it for two and our waitress made sure to point out to us at least three times that it was $65 kroner each. Norway and Iceland do NOT accept Euros or US dollars. But no worries because they do accept credit cards which makes things much easier. I believe the current exchange rate is $1 US dollar = $8 Norwegian kroner. The seafood platter was outstanding. To say that the seafood was fresh is an understatement. It all tasted like it was swimming only an hour ago! My brother in law is the, "Adventurous Type" and wanted to try the whale. Yes, whale! Norway is one of the few places where it is legal to serve it. Personally I wouldn't have ordered it but since he did I figured, "What the hell" and tried it. I must say that it was surprisingly delicious! It's cooked like you would cook a steak and actually does taste like a good sirloin. It has just a hint of, "fishyness" in the aftertaste so you know you're not eating a land animal. So if any of my fellow Yelpers are ever in Norway, I'd definitely try this place out! read more
