Came here for the Summer Tippler event promoted by PULSD. Considering we had a free drink, it was a pretty nice experience! The aesthetic of the hotel in general is beyond stunning. Lots of wood, plants, and fun textures. The moody lighting helps, too. The cocktails are skillfully crafted and their custom cocktail menu, unique. The Tippler drink itself was great- tequila based and boozy. They could use some more staff, though. The bartender seemed to be swamped with rooftop drink orders. read more

*Rooftop review only* When I think of rooftop bars, a spacious wraparound type with wonderful views comes to mind. Unfortunately, the rooftop at Made Hotel didn't cut it for me. I visited a few weeks ago in the afternoon to kick back with a friend who suggested this rooftop. Upon entrance to the hotel and on my way to the rooftop, the lobby and lounge/bar area looked quite nice as people were engaged in conversation and eating/drinking. Once I stepped off the elevator, I saw rooftop space to the right and left but that was it! It looked quite small. There was a small interior lounging area, but overall, everything was small and not spacious. The drinks reflected hotel rooftop prices and I selected a Rum slushy kind of cocktail. At $16, it definitely packed a punch and was delightful since the temperature was blistering hot. The views weren't anything to brag about and generally speaking, I'll try other places or return to those rooftop bars I'm familiar with. Been there, done that for Made. read more

This is a trendy, hipster boutique hotel located in NoMad. Short walking distance to Chelsea and K-Town. Might have been a 45-min walk to Central Park, but the subway option is still within reach. $1 pizza is right around the corner. They're understandably understaffed due to the effects of the pandemic but still manage to provide superb hospitality. To ensure that the guests' safety remains at the forefront of the hotel management's day-to-day operations: check-in is done online. Masks are enforced. Housekeeping is scheduled in advance. Their Paper Coffee shop / wine bar, rooftop lounge and lobby are available to hotel guests only. This ultimately made the experience much more personal / intimate. Also appreciated the lovely city view from the room, their flexibility in allowing a late checkout (1pm), the comfortable bedding, and... it should go without saying.... their coffee (which we ordered everyday) and wine (purchased a bottle). PS we booked the Deluxe King. Con: my husband is a very light sleeper and was woken briefly by the commotion in the city streets late at night (from the 14th floor). This could have easily been remedied with some good ol' ear plugs (that we had!) but he didn't want to wear.... :) so not a huge dealbreaker..... plus, this is the city after all. If you're a heavy sleeper like me, then you shouldn't have an issue. Ultimately I'd say that the benefits far outweigh the small negative, so if you're debating on booking, you should just do it. read more

The lobby is a nice place to study or get work done. There are a lot of outlets and generally space to sit. I've come here on a weekend and a weekday at varying times, and did not have trouble finding a spot to sit. They don't allow outside food if you are not a hotel guest, which makes zero sense to me. The person behind the counter really tracked me down and forced the menu on me twice. I had bought coffee already and would be willing to be buy a meal, even still he would not let me eat my dig inn, which really made no sense to me. He followed me around to enforce this, which made me a bit uncomfortable. Just keep in mind this if you want to bring food, they are strange about it. Coffee here honestly doesn't taste that great, but again, as a study spot, I really enjoy it. I think they serve stump coffee (but could be remembering it wrong). It's a lot brighter and quieter than the ace hotel, which is a 2 second walk away from this place. Bathrooms are down the stairs. They seemed fairly clean, except for the first stall I went into the first time I was there - which was not clean at all!! The bathrooms are super dark, so I guess you can't really even see what you're walking into anyway and how clean / filthy it is. Overall I highly recommend this place to come get work done. One of my favorite hotels in the city, this is usually where I stay when visiting. Pros 1) The beds are amazing, as long as you don't mind being low to the ground. They use leesa saipira mattresses. 2) The hotel is very clean, I've never had an issue. 3) The vibe is super cool. It's trendy boho, with a great coffee shop in the lobby and an awesome bar - I think it's on the top floor. The rooms are all wood, and feel beyond cozy. With that said, the suites are to die for. I've had friends book the suites and I'm dying to stay in one myself. 4) The rate is usually pretty reasonable for the location. Cons 1) The walls can seem pretty thin if you have a loud neighbor, or are right next to the elevator. 2) The bathroom sink is very small, which makes shaving or washing your face difficult. MADE was such a great "escape" from the bustle of NY. If you're a young couple like we were, or are trying to ball on a budget...MADE is a great choice. We were deciding between Ace or MADE for my birthday "escape," and were both glad we had the MADE experience. Boutique hotels are the way to go. The entrance is not as obvious, but google maps will take you right there. Once you enter the doors, you're greeted by high walls, wood and stone, and gold accents that make us feel like we were back in California. West Coast chill vibes with East Coast quality. Their cafe is right at the front, and their bar is past the elevators. The check-in counter is right in the middle, and their wifi is strong. The lobby is where it's at. People come here to work and hold small meetings, and why not...when the space is so trendy and relaxed? It was pretty filled up even on weekdays, so we never really got the chance to sit in the lobby even when we stayed there. We also tried to find the rooftop "bar," but never got around to it. Let's talk hotel rooms. I'm a big big fan of them using essential oils for the rooms when you first enter. My bf and I were INSTANTLY relaxed and felt at ease when we walked in after making our way from Brooklyn. We were greeted with a clean and non-overwhelming citrus/refreshing essential oil to our room. I love that they use such great products like DAVINES (omg!!) for toiletries, and that they really tried to make the best use of the small space they have for rooms. There was definitely enough space for the two of us, and even with my bf being on the taller side, he was still comfortable with their provided robe and slippers (those are always a plus!). Their showers are spacious and AMAAAZING after a long day of going around the city. The view wasn't too spectacular, but we enjoyed having large windows--to see the buildings across from us (haha). I would have liked to have seen some more special incentives like a little birthday something like cafe coupon or little chocolates. Anything to make the stay a bit more special would have been nice...because we could have chosen to stay in an Airbnb or something. But those are just the little things. Service was 110% courteous, professional, and warm. We loved everyone who was on the team, especially the overnight staff--y'all are the real MVPs. This hotel is super rad and has amazing customer service. I mentioned on my booking that it was my moms first time in NYC and asked if they could do something special - surprise! She showed up to the hotel room with a little note that said "Welcome to NYC Mom!" and. Box of chocolates. Disappointed because of size. And maybe location. And noise. In a very busy and touristed area - near 5th Avenue and Empire State Building. In hindsight, we prefer the less crowded SOHO or Village scene. Very contemporary space with a lively bar and coffee areas on first floor. Great staff. We were upgraded to a "suite" on the 14th floor. Spotless. But very small - even by NYC norms. The bathroom had virtually little space for toiletries (hint - install a shelf above the toilet). The real downside was no closet so you use this industrial wall rack to hang your clothes. Also the platform bed area was raised so one had to keep that in mind when getting out of bed during the night. The floors and ceilings are concrete. So the band or DJ was heard/felt late into the night. I would pass on this hotel. read more

I didn't actually stay in the hotel but I attended a party on their rooftop, recently, and that was a pretty amazing experience. It's nice feeling quasi-important as you pounce upon a swanky venue. At the door, there is a list. Imagine that. A list that I'm finally on, in NYC! I digress. Being escorted to the top floor, to walk out to music blazing already sold me on the place. Surprisingly the drinks weren't too bad and the view from the rooftop is perfect for a summer evening/night in the big apple. The staff members were all friendly and the bartenders were quick and efficient despite a large number of people ordering drinks. While searching for a hotel for our trip to NYC my friend saw that the MADE Hotel was opening around the first week of September. With that being said we decided why not, and we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was gorgeous. Now, I'm not sure if this happens for everyone but during our booking process we received a $50 food credit, one free welcome drink and one free cup of coffee for each day we stayed. They rooftop deck looks very lavish with a full bar, DJ and lounge chairs. The only downside is the actual size of the room is small, but we didn't go into it expecting a penthouse. Overall it was a great stay here at the MADE hotel and I'd gladly be back. read more

Loved this hotel. The staff is friendly and super helpful. As I was leaving I got a call that I had forgotten my credit card at the bar. My car was two blocks away and they ran over to bring it back. Nice touch and not likely to happen at one of the chain hotels. Besides that, the room was clean, well decorated, silent (I couldn't hear the NYC noise at all), and the bed was very comfortable. Super cool, chic, trendy place. This boutique style hotel is also only about 1.5-2 years old. It has a very cool vibe and has no street sign, so it is easy to miss. They were able to accommodate us for a great room last minute at very competitive rates. Eddie checked us in and he was very helpful and kind, letting us know all about what the hotel has to offer. This is more of a minimalist hotel, when you walk in, it is not at all like your typical hotel room (closet, bathroom shower/tub, white countertops, desk with phone) none of that. Which was refreshing. The only reason I am deducting a star, is because I do wish that the walls were a little thicker. We could sometimes hear people blow drying their hair in the mornings or slamming doors when people were going to and from their rooms. read more

The rooftop bar is awesome and could tell it was a hotspot from all the non hotel guests coming to have a drink on Friday night. All the staff is nice, friendly, funny, and helpful. My favorite area is a little secluded garden patio they have for guests only. I typically stay at bigger properties like Marriott, but this experience has opened my eyes to a more personalized experience. I love finding the not-so-hidden hotel gems in NY and to some degree MADE is and can be one. I've stayed at MADE twice. The first time they had only been open for a couple months so there was understandable growing pains. The decor, rooms and staff are all super. I was even given free upgrade for a room facing the Empire State with a mini-patio to boot. Score! The rooftop bar is exquitsite and has amazing views, and drinks. Getting a good night's sleep is essential no matter the night, more so when it's a work trip. So the constant closet door banging in the hallway by housekeeping did not help. I let the staff know about the housekeeping noise so on my second stay they put me on a floor without a housekeeping closet. Problem solved. They don't have a gym but I was told that they have access to a gym a few blocks away. You can imagine my disappointment when said gym told me that they could only grant me access if I was a NY resident, which of course makes no sense since 99% of the hotel guests are probably from out-of-state if not out of the country. To add to my frustration it was raining so I couldn't even run outside. Remember the rooftop bar? Well apparently on the weekends they open it up big-time for a DJ dance partry. I stayed one extra night to see a friend which was a Friday and when I got back to the hotel there was a line of people waiting to get up the elevator. This was @11:30. At the time I didn't realize the party was just getting started. The music and bass was unbelievbly loud, enough so that sleep was not an option. I called the frontdesk to ask when the party was going to end and was met with "i don't know, maybe 2." (it was actually closer to 4). I'm all for partied it up esp in NYC but are they in the business to serve their paying guests or the hipsters who want to bring Cochella to the rooftop of their hotel? Good size room, well at least the one we stayed in. And that is rare in NYC. Relatively newish establishment, with lots of woodwork throughout. The lobby has high ceiling with workspace / living room for guests. There's a garden patio at the back for guests and coffee shop close to the lobby. Rooftop bar is quaint and it's almost busy every time. Guest service agents are always friendly and helpful. Amenities are limited in the room but that's ok for us. We like our own stuff anyway. My boyfriend and I love coming here for coffee, even though the skills of the baristas are far from that of those at places like Blue Bottle or Partners. Almond milk is often burnt, but latte art is good. The decor is cozy and cool - lots of plats and lots of slabs of wood. In terms of the bar, we've come here twice to get drinks and food while writing on our laptops. This place is definitely conducive to that - getting food and drinks in a hip space while working on a laptop. That said, the food and service need a lot of work. There is one bartender working the space. If he leaves, the manager looks on without offering help to patrons. Tonight, we waited to be helped at the bar, while four other groups waited as well. The manager stood against the wall looking on until the bartender came back. Drinks are good. Food is sub par and over-priced. My boyfriend's burger came out cold tonight, while my kale panzanella came out missing a layer of flavor and the heirloom tomatoes were something like beefsteak and underripe. Don't spend your money on the food here. Get drinks and head somewhere else for bites. There's no unifying vision here for food. Feels like a spot without a leader. I ordered a drink off the menu - a Martinez. We just got our check: $26 bucks. Spend your money somewhere else. We loved this hotel's decor. The wood floors, great mix of tile and brass fixtures in the bathroom, efficient use of wall storage - the hotel room was a lesson in design thinking. The bed was super comfortable. The location is central, but it's not on a particularly nice street. It's a very short walk to everything. The lobby cafe is cute and reasonably priced. The hotel staff persons were uniformly down-to-earth and adorable. The small room looks messy fast, because there is so little storage. And the hotel is on the pricey side, though that could just be NYC. read more

This was such a great choice for hotels! The amibance is great, it's all really beautiful woodwork and the lobby is welcoming and the staff is helpful. Our room was just one room/one bed with a bathroom (pretty sure there may be bigger options) but this was great for us. The shower was really nice and they still give lotion, shampoo and conditioner (not just "conditioning shampoo" *eyeroll*) It's very clean and well kept, and has a good coffee shop in the lobby and a roof top bar that was also fun. We didn't make in to the restaurant in the basement but the bar in the lobby was pretty nice and also they do serve breakfast. Overall a great place to stay and located very conveniently near a subway station. read more

I should start out with that I did not stay at the hotel - I only came for brunch but none the less my experience was amazing! If you are looking for a trendy "Brooklyn-like" spot in Manhattan - MADE is perfect! I sat at the counter with a friend and we ordered lattes and then shared sweet potato pancakes and the breakfast sandwich. This food was delicious!! The lobby, where the restaurant is located, is extremely relaxing and the decorations make you feel like you are home and in a foreign country at the same time. The woman who made our coffee was very friendly and the lobby was quiet and intimate which made it a perfect brunch place for meeting up with a friend to catch up. I would not recommend this for a large group trying to get brunch but for 1-2 people MADE is perfect! read more

This is a review of the lobby bar which we had a couple of drinks here and really enjoyed the Bungalow atmosphere. The cocktail drinks are all about 16 bucks but I had a pretty damn dirty martini and my friend had a really good ginger and fennel drink. The bartender who was there, Terrence, was super hospitable and has an excellent vocabulary. There is an abbreviated bar bites menu which everything sounded super tasty but alas we did not have anything during our recent trip. Tried breakfast at Ferris and the salad was so good. The coffee at Paper is good as well. Place will be crowded at few peak hours. Heads up to my man Ejay for accommodating my transport to JFK and seeing him putting all my heavy luggage in the car(after his shift ended) really shows how passionate the guy really is. Let's talk a Lobby Bar experience. I'm an avid devotee to the coffee shop here. Although they have their ups and downs in the coffee portion, the ambiance is nice and the baristas are friendly and try hard. Not the case with the bar. We had two dishes, two appetizers, and ordered two cocktails. One dish came out cold, and the other was a $17 side salad. When we asked for the cold order to be replaced they went out of their way to make us a new dish. Unfortunately the bartender made zero contact with us after we asked for our replacement. We wanted to order another drink but he avoided eye-contact with us like the plague. This would be fine if it was a full bar and he was busy, but there were literally five people sitting there. Eventually the bartender just walked off and a group of confused people trying to order started to build up. When the manager walked up and realized there was no bartender, he started looking off to the side as if he was trying to summon the bartender with his eyes instead of stepping in and helping people. This level of service and care is UNACCEPTABLE for the prices they charge. For $16 a cocktail and $17-$25 an entree, quality needs to be spot on and customer service needs to be mildly attentive at worst. This place has potential, but it's lacking a focused vision and pride in work. UPDATE: I was at 2 stars before receiving the bill and I'm changing it to 1 star. I've only stayed here once so don't have many tips other than you should ask for a room with an Empire State view. There are a couple of things that my wife and I REALLY loved about this place; - The fact that there was no big sign out front apart from some type of plaque in the sidewalk. - How efficiently they used the space in the room. - How cozy the room and bed, in particular, felt. - The overall design ethos of the hotel. It's not situated on a cool block or anything but like the other cool hotels in the area it's close to Greenwich Village and Chelsea. Just a few thoughts from an Average Joe who only occasionally travels to the big city for business or pleasure: When traveling, I usually opt for the big name hotel chains because you have a pretty good idea what kind of quality you'll get from them. If I had done that THIS WEEK, I would have missed out on one of the most memorable hotel experiences of my life. I was looking to arrange early check in from the train into the city (around noon), so I called front desk at MADE and got to speak with one of the friendliest hotel associates I've ever met. She helped my traveling companions and I arrange to get into our rooms just as quickly as possible once we arrived and was utterly charming to talk to. That's how to make a first impression. My companions were able to get into their rooms a bit ahead of me, so I took a seat at the bar where I was served by Cesar, an engaging bartender from Peru. Not only did he whip up craft cocktails for me (and soon after my friends), but he talked me into my first authentic pisco sour. Everything he served was an absolute delight and his recommendations from the dining menu were right on point. You'll pay about $14-16 for a cocktail at MADE, but that certainly seems about on par for a trendy Manhattan joint. Definitely just an FYI and not a complaint. This little boutique gem gets even better for chance people-watching encounters! The crowd already oozes personality (even before I get in the door!), then the next thing you know a movie star steps out into the lobby minus an entourage. It's like chic meets chill, down to earth atmosphere and clientele. I was warned ahead of time that the rooms were small in comparison to what you might expect at a normal hotel. And while the rooms are on the small side (my room was 180 sq ft), they feature everything you could ask for, save a refrigerator. That being said, if you need ice, the staff are happy to get it for you. Rooms come with a king size bed with room for storage underneath, a TV, stereo, a small selection "minibar" and more. The bathroom fixtures are made from reclaimed metal and the shower is, frankly, amaze-balls. After having slept two hours the night before, that shower was revitalizing in the best way. Didn't end my one day stay at MADE until I'd had no less than three showers. So, like, do yourself a favor and have shower there, k? After returning from a work event and dinner, I was convinced by a friend to visit the rooftop bar for a drink (or three... or six...), and we find ourselves in a place with a definite nightclub atmosphere, but none of the pretension. The light was dim (which always makes me look better!), and the view of Manhattan from there was pretty great, even though the weather had made for a cloudy evening. The bar staff was beyond fantastic. In fact, I'm currently "bar married" to Claudia, the most amazing bartender... although I don't think that'll be recognized in any court of law. Still, she was as charming as they come and was happy to take drinks to my taste. The other service staff was very friendly and engaging... even their security staff was kind and approachable! And the wonderful girl from earlier at the front desk? She came up at one point to say hi AND EVEN REMEMBERED ALL OUR NAMES. I was floored. I would have never booked this place myself. Now there's nowhere in Manhattan I'd rather stay. This was and experience I'll remember fondly for years. read more

Tough review, as the room was clean and ok and I did get a discount for first time guest. But I would not recommend bringing family to the hotel. I was thinking about bringing my son on a trip for friend's son's wedding. I am glad I didn't. When getting a room, ask for something other than on the second floor. There is a store room on 2nd and the constant traffic from hotel staff can be easily heard throughout the night. Breakfast? I think the restaurant had breakfast, but where and when. When I asked, was told that they had pastries only at the coffee shop at 0745. Well, easy to walk outside somewhere and get something. But again if I had brought my son, easier to have breakfast in the hotel. And the open air bar on top floor maybe nice. But the the hotel staff on Saturday night seemed more apt to please the nightclub patrons than the hotel guests. Elevators seemed reserved for them. Oh well. I was on the second floor, so no problem. But in the end the room was clean and nice. Although the modern design is unique, it's not practical sometimes. And the coffee shop was good. In all, mixed feeling. Almost missed the entrance when I first took a taxi over as there is no sign to mark that it is a hotel! The moment I stepped in, I realize this is different from the typical bland predictable NYC hotels that I was accustomed to - the bar right next to the lobby was bustling with locals on a Sunday night. The room was reasonably sized by NY standards and the bed was very comfortable. Loved the breakfast and coffee at the hotel lobby each morning - the bar area serves hot food (don't miss out on the sweet potato pancakes) whilst the coffee shop serves hot food and pastries only. I travel to NYC from BOS every other week or so for my new job down on 24th. I have stayed at many other hotels around the city, but after staying at Made when it first opened, haven't stayed anywhere else since. There are several things that make me happy: 1) The rooms are really calming. I love the human-sized scale of the room with its bed on a plinth right against the window. I love the wood flooring and always rock the slippers they give you. You can get the lighting just right in there. And the best part is the TV is covered up. The room is not designed around a huge public couch and designed as an homage to the TV. I never turn it on when I am here. I open the window (which also is great), turn off the AC, and have one of the best night sleeps outside of my own house. 2) The food is amazing. I have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner here many many times. Greg and Charles have put together a fantastic restaurant downstairs (Ferris) where I have had some of my favorite dishes in the city. Greg's new katsu sando is life-changing and the beets are how a beet dreams of dying. My fav. I'll add that even when I have eaten at Ferris during the geriatric hour of 5pm, watching the attention to detail and culinary perfection that Greg puts into each and every dish is something worth witnessing. It's really cool that you can watch a chef at the top of his game working his magic front and center to the whole experience. The lobby bar is equally delicious (burger is amazing as is the broccolini). Lauren, Rachel, and Taylor make some killer drinks and are always fun to hang with. Similarly, breakfast in the lobby is something I have come to miss when I am home. Michelle always give me the warmest hellos, a strong cup of coffee, and knows that I always order the same thing (granola with yogurt and Thai basil, and the house-made chorizo). When I head out the door to work in the morning, I leave with a smile and Michelle's "have a great day" on my mind. It is really nice to feel like when I travel away from my family, that I am coming to visit friends in the city. The staff at the Made all play a huge role in why I keep coming back here. I travel for work and I stay with friends. 3) The light. I am a bit picky about natural lighting and the general way the room makes you feel. I hate staying in hotels for this reason. You always end up pointed the wrong direction, facing a parking lot, or in the dark. Each room I have stayed at at Made just has a really nice vibe to it. The way the hotel is situated amongst the buildings around it gives it just enough breathing room that it is quiet (for NYC) and really relaxing. I love keeping the windows open. And in the morning, the room is filled with natural light. I like. A big thank you to all of the staff and lovely people that make this hotel my go-to for when I come to the city (including the architects and designers, I notice that too). I did not stay at this hotel, however I visited the rooftop lounge. The rooftop is amazing and has view like no other of manhattan. There cocktail bar is exceptional and the staff is very attentive. Just walking into the hotel lobby I wanted to stay a night. If your staying here check out the bar on the top floor. read more

Okay, I don't write reviews, but in this case, I had to. MADE Hotel is everything I was looking for. eeeeeee.ver.rrryy.thing. Of course I wanted a good location, but my main concern was staying somewhere that felt special. I wanted somewhere inspiring, artsy and cool. And MADE DELIVERED. I arrived early Wednesday morning and they had my room ready even though check-in wasn't until 3pm. Upon arrival I was given a list of activities the hotel does each night for its guests. Wednesday night was wine hour, which was PERFECT. The lobby is pretty packed with people working on their laptops, etc. but MADE reserves a little section for you to just hang out a drink wine. And it wasn't like okay, here's your one glass of free wine, now go. It was like here, drink all the wine you want! Sit, talk with us! My friend and I sat down and got to know some of the staff members (shout out to Alexa, Kat, and Eric). They were so friendly and genuinely wanted to get to know us and what we thought of the hotel, it was a great start to my trip. The room was ADORABLE. I could go on and on but I will sum it up with this-DETAILS ARE EVERYTHING, and MADE gets that. Like... they really get it. No detail was left unchecked. (Side note- a little *small (*but hey, it is New York) if you are traveling in a group/family, but for solo travel the studio setup was perfect.) Thursday night MADE had a local artist come and teach an informal "Blind portrait" drawing class (with wine) and it was incredibly. Exactly what I needed to get my excitement for creativity back on line. On Friday I ran in to one teeny, tiny issue with a person who was not even an employee at the Hotel, but as soon as I voiced my concerns, Leah from the bar was like I GOT YALL, FOLLOW ME. She took us downstairs to the restaurant and gave my friend and I a round of drinks. She stayed with us and we talked through the issue and then just continued to talk until the restaurant closed. LEAH IS AWESOME. When checking out on Saturday, they held my luggage/bags since I had a later flight and even set up transportation for me. Thank you to Trevor for carrying my bags out in the rain. AND as I was leaving, sweet Kat (one of the staff members from Wednesday night), remembered me by name and said she will see me next time. That was special.
