I just tasted some of this honey from a spoon I was putting into my tea.. and I had a Yelp tab…read moreopen, so I'm obligated to tell you how good this honey is. It's very sweet (like clover honey from anywhere) and has a freshness that is hard to find in store-bought honey. It's bottled raw, but the consistency is smooth and barely runs. Upon opening, there is a pretty white film at the top. I just ran out of my usual large jar of Harmony Honey from the Portland Saturday market and was devastated that my honey man won't be around till spring (ok, the address IS on the jar, so I could crash his farm. if only he'd get a website. that honey is floral and light). Alternatively, I searched New Seasons and after scoffing at the honeys from Iowa and New Zealand, and I found some down home local honey from Forest Grove, OR ($5.99/24oz)! It comes in the same jar as local Chonga's Salsa, so I presume they are some sort of deal for a small business. I'll have to keep my eye out for more of these hidden jems with black lids in the future. I love Oregon food!

I've been a loyal Wessel's honey consumer for many years now. It all started when a friend tipped…read moreme off that there were some people in the medical community that thought you could ward off annual allergy problems by eating locally produced honey on a regular basis. Something about accustomizing yourself to pollen year round. He claimed that it had worked wonders for him, and he puts it in his tea on a daily basis. While I'm not a tea drinker, I thought... why not try it in my morning coffee? It's a simple matter to squeeze some honey into your drink as opposed to a packet of sugar, so I thought... why not. Coffee purists are probably grating their teeth right now, but I don't care. Last summer was the first full summer I'd been able to tangibly test results and... there was seemingly some improvement. Now, I'm not crippled by allergies, only inconvenienced. I can tell you with certainty that I was less inconvenienced last summer than in any summer in recent memory. Enough of my plight with allergies. This honey tastes GREAT! I buy it in bulk, which translates to a 5 lb. jar (~$17, give or take) every other month or so. This honey has also become a component of my mustard based BBQ sauce, and I can tell you with confidence that I would consider no other brand. It's that good. Sweet, dark, complex, savory... it's really fantastic. The product itself deserves 5 stars, but the packaging earns 3 stars. I'm not going to tell you what my specific beef with the packaging is, but I can tell you that I'm going to contact them directly with a simple request. If that materializes, I will definitely update to 5 stars.

The Cannon Beach Farmers Market is only open on Tuesday afternoons from 1-5pm…read moreand I just happened to be there when it was in full swing - lots of variety in vendors, some food trucks, delicious fruit stalls, and awesome live music! A great time! The market takes up most of the midtown parking lot on Gower St and only runs from June through September. I grabbed a small carton of Oregon cherries and they were so fresh and flavorful. I also grabbed some lunch at the Roast Town BBQ tent and they had the BEST crab cakes I've ever had! I also had a shrimp roll which was delicious. Live music was being performed by the Bar K Buckeroos and really set a fun, western-swing type vibe - they drew quite a crowd as well. Overall the market was jovial and everyone was friendly and having a great time. Some vendors take credit card, some cash only so plan ahead. Parking in Cannon Beach is limited as it is, and since this market is in one of the main public lots the parking situation is even more challenging - but the town is very walkable with several other public lots within walking distance. I enjoyed my visit and feel lucky I got to check out this great local market!

For example, there were lovely savory food trucks serving tacos and sandwiches and then more dessert type styles such as donuts and more. Additionally, all the vendors are unique and many are talkative describing their product and overall area of OR. I purchased toffee, a handmade bracelet, and the best cherries I ever had in my life. My biggest recommendation is to get the cherries at the Fulton booth. Unreal! Many of the food booths serve samples so that you can try before you buy. The ambiance is calming and gentle surrounded by the beautiful nature and fresh air. I highly recommend!

They have the famous WolfMoon bakery and that sourdough was INCREDIBLE. The line for it was huge. The farmers market doesn't open until til 4pm so get there like 3:30 because a line forms outside the barricades. We will definitely be coming back here! Be sure that you bring cash! Some places do not take card. NOTE: Dogs ARE allowed on leash. Do not listen to anything that one star reviews says about no dogs allowed. They are entirely incorrect.
