I am not a vegan (give me all the meats!) so I was not looking forward to eating some of the foods that I ordered for my client. However, Made by Meg knocked it out of the park! Made by Meg catered my wedding at Orcutt Ranch (appetizers and drinks) and I couldn't ask for more! I had a simple array of appetizers and the beer+wine combo for about 80 guests. Katherine gave a perfect estimate of what was needed, no one went hungry and there was just a little leftover! They didn't oversell me and I stayed right on budget. The bartenders were extremely sweet and went above and beyond to help make sure the catering table was stocked (which they so didn't have to do!). The seamlessness and perfect communication put me at ease for my big day, and I would absolutely recommend it everyone use them! I just got married this past July at one of the LA City Parks venues. They only use a couple of vendors for bar services. We shopped around all three options and Made By Meg offered the best selection of alcohol and at the best price. It was super easy getting quotes and adjusting things as need be. They even worked with us to get a special IPA offering from a microbrewery. The bartender did a great job at the day of the event and was very attentive to everyone's drink needs. They were one of our preferred contractors for LA parks venue event. We discussed our plan with Kat and what we wanted was a free beer and white claw bar and soft drinks and pay for mixed drinks... they provided exactly that service with enough bartenders and a on site manager to rotate service, we added coffee and tea service which worked out perfectly and added to more servers to clear off tables. This review took way too long to get to, but here I am! So we hired Meg and the team for an event where I work in April 2019. Start to finish from the quote to the final invoice, it was superior service. She and the team did a live dessert demo that literally they did all at the same time. It was outside and they had to work with the conditions on a warmer day in Southern California, but that did not matter, they literally had everything they needed! I believe I had gotten them tables for set-up and dividers so the rest of the team can have supplies behind that divider, but everything else was visible to the audience. I probably just had my favorite salad ever and I'm usually not big on salads. I placed a delivery order after a long time curiosity about this place. I came across this place randomly in a plaza on PCH. You wouldn't really notice it unless you happened to be right in front of it. The store front doesn't even look like a place that really serves food. It is rather small and off to the side, there is a counter with barstools setup for diners. Definitely not a bring the gang sit down dining type of place. But the list of food and catering services and Yelp reviews had me curious. So today I finally was in the mood for something that felt healthy and not fried nor extra fattening. I had the Squash it to me Sally with a side of Grilled Chicken. It was so good! Perfect blend of burrata with candied pecans, caramelized onions, and tangy dressing. It felt clean. It was light but a good portion. It arrived on time. It was perfect for lunch. I wish I had this salad for my wedding. I will definitely be looking to Made by Meg for catering services in the future. read more

I attended my beautiful friend's birthday girl trip at a large house in Malibu at the top of the hills. The place had a spectacular view and we had an unbelievable four days but the highlight of the trip was having a birthday dinner catered by Made By Meg. They sent three incredible ladies (Angela, Nekia and Donna) that were on point the entire night. The food was TDF, the service was outstanding and they did their job in a small kitchen with us girls in their way most of the night. Meg Hall is absolutely amazing she should actually get 6 stars---no, 7 stars! Ah heck, INFINITYYYYYY!!!!! I know I should say "we" or "our" for wedding reviews but you know what I mean. I hired Meg to by my caterer for my wedding because of three things: 1.) Out of all the caterers I talked to, and there were a handful, Meg was the only one that PROMPTLY answered the phone and e-mails. I can't tell you how many vendors I spoke with through voice mail or had to wait for a call back like 1-2 days later. Not the case with Meg. 2.) I had a pretty obscure food idea for the wedding. Pi-themed. For a pi-day wedding. Ya. You heard me, pi day wedding. Instead of hearing, "oh.....okay......that's weird......how about prime rib instead of that shepards pi(e) that you want"; I got "OH WOW THAT'S SO FUN, HOW ABOUT cauliflower with PIne nuts and roasted garlic sound?!" HELL YES to any vendor that can flex with a weird couple like James and I and our funky pi themed wedding. 3.) I told Meg straight up that my budget was tight and she still thought of (with some brain-storming with me) a kick-ass menu for our wedding. After I hired her, several more + stars came her way: Meg was totally okay with coming down to the venue several months in advance to get the lay of the land, plan on how much stuff needed to be rented, and give advise to me that I didn't even think about. I will have to say her vendor for rental equipment was too pricey and I did opt to go with Pico Party rental. She was totally fine with my decision and gave me absolutely ZERO pressure about my choice. Awesome. Meg throughout the pre-wedding kept in touch and kindly reminded me of payment due and answered any of my pre-wedding freakout questions with CONFIDENCE. On the BIG DAY Meg and her crew SHINED. The food was displayed beautifully with pi-placards (at my request). All of the guests were happily munching away (okay minus the infants) and best of all many of my guests came up to me personally and said the food was some of THE BEST food they've ever had at wedding. Food was a very important aspect to me for the reception. How many times have you personally had boring pasta primavera and crappy prime rib at a wedding? I'm sure many of you have. You won't get that with Meg. She will zazz up your food menu, cook it up with flare, WOW your guests and remain professional--all rolled up in a sweet pastry puff package. :) Would I hire Meg again? Very disappointing! This company has an impressive menu but the product doesn't live up to the description! I ordered "gourmet" sandwiches for a Christmas event and ordered the turkey and Brie sandwiches only because I was assured they used "House Roasted Turkey.". The turkey turned out to be processed turkey slices, not fresh roasted. Sandwiches were dry and could have used extra aioli but none was provided. From my experience, this is not a first-rate caterer but they charge the highest price for food plus extra charges for provisions! And extra charge for paying with credit card. I'd look elsewhere for better service and quality. read more

I'm going to start off this review by saying it's an interesting little place. By little I mean, 4 bar stools and a small table for four. I personally loved it because it was different dining experience for me and I'm always up for trying new things. I met up with some friends here and felt like I was having a private dining experience cooked by the chef herself! How awesome is that? Plus the guy that rang us up is a singer/musician who made it on American Idol's Top 50 a few seasons ago. Here's what we had: 1. Cara Cara Grilled Chicken with Brussel Sprouts: Citrus and garlicky. This was recommended to me by a friend and with the first bite I was doing my happy wiggle. It's a healthy non carb dish with bacon. The dish could have been hotter but the quality, freshness, and flavor was all there. 2. Meg's Special-Grilled Flap Steak with Vanilla Japanese Sweet Potato Puree: oh....this puree is so amazing! 3. Sides of Garlic Fries: she has perfected the art of perfect fries. Give these fries a shot and you'll come back for more. 4. Smuffin: what a cute name! half smore+half muffin=smuffin. This place has a lot of potential and I wouldn't be surprised if a huge line forms out the door soon. This place can't handle large parties though. It's great for pick-up. I'm hurrying back to try the Fried Squash Blossoms with Whipped Goat Cheese and Paneezle sandwich. read more

OMG...where do I start. Excellent food, gorgeous presentation, and the most amazing staff around. Made by Meg catered my son's Bar Mitzvah this past weekend.... I received nothing but outstanding feedback from my guests on the food. Kristy was the head of the staff...she was AMAZING. She was there hours early coordinating tables, chairs, arcade game deliveries...all while directing her staff to prepare and serve an outstanding spread of beautiful food. Even before the party, she helped to create specialty drinks for kids and adults and helped me create a diverse menu that pleased everyone from the 13 year olds to the 80 year olds. Not only that, but my husband and I are vegan, while the vast majority of our guests are not. Made by Meg created food that everyone could eat, with a vegan option for every single dish. It was outstanding! And don't get me started on the Smore's bar and little dipper station they set up for dessert (vegan marshmallows and chocolate also included). I had booked Meg in April to do a premiere party for a company that I worked with. I was in a bind to find a caterer last minute (meaning three days before the event) when the caterer I had originally booked wanted to overcharge us. Luckily, our event was later on a Sunday night so Meg was available! She worked with us and our budget and ended up charging us half of what our other caterer was going to charge! Her menu was very extensive and she made sure to customize it to our budget. We actually had trouble choosing what to serve because everything sounded so good. We decided on these mini sirloin sliders, little caesar salads served in bamboo cones, and rock shrimp served in corn tortilla scoops. Everything was so good and we got so many compliments from the guests at our party. If you need a caterer that is friendly, organized and works within your price range, I urge you to call Meg. Meg Hall was a lovely caterer to work with for our May wedding. We learned that our venue (The Sepulveda Home) contracted her as part of our wedding contract and we scheduled a tasting - the food was really really good and well seasoned and textures were lovely. We chose to serve wild mushroom chicken, miso and garlic salmon, and curry cauliflower steak as our guests had a great variety of dietary restrictions. She also managed the staffing for everything according to our needs and variety of food choices offered and everything went off beautifully - the bartender, enough servers for our ~90 person wedding, thoughts on best timing on delivery of the cake and offering to fix any issues if any - she has thought of everything and her impressive portfolio of catering some famous clientele really tells in her service! Meg's staff were wearing black and matching headbands, very professional who zipped in and out throughout the venue. Our guests told us at the wedding that it was the best wedding food I've ever had (spoken by many guests including some seriously foodie friends). The food had attractive and classy plating, beautiful cheese platters presented with fresh fruit on wood slices at the welcome reception. We were thrilled with everything down from the salad to the sides (haricot verts with crisped shallots, corn souffle) and we were so happy that the drinks came out picture-perfect and nice and strong :) Great communication throughout the months working together about how to work the wedding out and coordinating, friendly and professional.
