Southern Pain Management offers all the traditional pain/nerve blocks, Radio Frequency Ablasions, Etc; Several new innovative procedures including Ketamine infusion treatments at affordable cost to patients. The science of Ketamine Infusion makes too much sense for insurance companies to my help pay for such a thing. They would much rather pay for pain medicine. To my knowledge insurance pays ZERO MONEY for Ketamine Infusion Treatments. Hunter Chatham, CRNA manages all IV Theropy, he too is excellent, professional and compassionate. He was the only doctor in the Birmingham area who was willing to refill my implanted pain pump. Before finding him, I had to drive to Slidell, LA every month to have it filled. He and his staff work together as a team. It is comforting to see teamwork in one's medical care. They are also very good at what they do, and each one plays a part in your care. I have suffered from hip and thigh pain since I had a defective hip replaced with a non-defective one. I thought that the pain was caused by all the surgery. Thank goodness Dr. Varley had other impressions. He discovered that the pain was emanating from my spine and that Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) was the solution. I had been having it performed on the other side of my spine for several years, with good results. Walking without pain is truly amazing, after suffering with it for so many years. I highly recommend Southern Pain Specialists for anyone with back/spine problems.

Dr. Barber found the cause of my problem to be something else entirely and started treating me accordingly! For two years I have been nearly pain-free! I have been able to do more than lay on the couch and cry, writhing in pain! I have found a much better quality of life! Thank you, Dr. Barber! Thank you! To address the claim by the person who was dismissed by Dr. Barber: If you have a history of drug abuse you sort of lose all credibility in your claim. You said in your review, "I've been clean for a while now..." Also, you said, "One good thing about dr barber I guess is he does work with you somewhat if you pay cash..." Not true at all. I have only paid cash once when I forgot my card, and he has been nothing but amazing! I think you're just very angry that you lost your pain medication. As another reviewer pointed out, you should be more careful of the company you keep! I would never be friends with people who sell their pain medication and do drugs! NEVER! But he doesn't like to listen I had some issues with some so-called friends of mine outside of his clinic and just because they ganged up on me and called him and told lies on me saying that I was doing all this horrible shit when they were the ones that were doing it I am the one that got dismissed from his practice and when I tried Explain to him what had happened he wouldn't even listen to reason he wouldn't listen to anything I had to say he just automatically believe these random people on what they said and dismiss me from his practice I know many people that go to his practice that sell their pills and they don't care he never calls in for a pill count so it's not like they ever get caught but because they called him and told him that I was selling my pills and that I was doing drugs he dismissed me even though I've been clean for a while and I don't sell my pills but I know that the ones that called in on me I know they sell their pills I know that for a fact the only reason they called in on me was because we were having personal issues and they knew that they they could get to me by calling him and all it took was all four of them calling him and now I'm dismissed from his practice but that's OK because I will be filing a lawsuit so think twice for your Dr. Barber's office because all it takes is one person to call and tell lies on you and he'll dismiss you no questions asked he is so unprofessional lazy inconsiderate the only thing good about his office is Miss Tia upfront because she is the sweetest one that's there and the nicest. Instead of just handing me a prescription for pain medication, Dr. Oglesby offered me a trial for a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I have used that for about 7 years now. I have been able to lower the use of pain medication, using that. Dr. Oglesby also prescribed an amazing Numbing gel, made by a Compound Pharmacy. I can apply it anywhere that I have pain. I am amazed at how well it works for me! I highly recommend Dr. Oglesby to anyone who is dealing with Chronic pain anywhere! In addition to Spine Surgery pain, and Rheumatoid Arthritis, I have severe pain in numerous areas of my body. Since I started seeing Dr. Oglesby, I have been able to live an active, and joyful life, in spite of my Chronic Pain!

He correctly diagnosed me with gallbladder issues, which I had to have removed. Another time, kidney stones. A third time, he sent me to have bloodwork done to monitor my Ha1c because I'm a predisposed diabetic. He is an advocate that nutrition can reverse many diseases and recommended watching the documentary, Forks Over Knives. He believes a plant based diet can help people have longer, healthier lives (but also said, if you eat meat, dairy, and eggs - the key is moderation!). He is a man of few words, but someone I trust impeccably. Not many doctors promote nutrition over prescriptions but I definitely like that about him!
