Even as a Yelper who has laughed way too much at Rayan's STFU posts about people who talk way too…read moremuch and inappropriately about their kids, I'm not anti-kids, and have reviewed a fair few little people places because of friends and family that I shop for. I had seen Maddie and Mark's a few times and when it was my niece's birthday recently, this was my go-to shop. They have a small range of clothing and accessories - branded organic cotton clothes which are aimed to be used as said little person grows - dresses become tunics, so I thought this would be perfect for my niece who is 12 months but currently wearing 18 month clothing as she is growing so much. The shoes are the main draw. Because little people's feet are developing then good shoes are a must and a whole host of brands are available - from sturdy shoes to trendy shoes, such as converse, a whole host of types and colour's are here. Yes, some of them are not cheap but they are very good quality. I picked up a gorgeous pair of jelly 'Melissa's' for my niece - yes, it is official, she is trendier than me, but they are way more fashionable than the 80's jellies most of us remember and that might have to do with a certain Vivienne Westwood. They also smell amazing and in hot pink they are perfect for holidays. It is not the Clark's horrors that I'm sure some of us will remember - I wanted the Melissa's in my size and I was wishing such cool options had been available when I was a little one. I was £56 for a dress and the Melissa's. The policy is an exchange if anything needs to be returned or a long lasting store credit and the time limit for this is normally I think 2 weeks. As my shopping was heading West, I was told I could have longer than the two weeks and I was able to exchange for a larger size easily. Service is friendly and helpful - the sizing for little people's shoes can be confusing so take staff advice if required. So, I'm sure I'll be back here for more presents - a gorgeous pale green pair of converse caught my eye, but my niece is too small for them - at the moment...

Awwwwww! That is exactly what I thought when I popped into Bohemia the other day. This children's…read moreboutiques just screams cuteness and many of the toys are too nice to let your terrible tots play with, they'd be better used as ornaments. They had a huge section with wooden and fabric food and I was tempted to buy a cuddly banana but seeing as I'm not under 3 I thought it was best not to as I'd probably end up wondering why I'd bought it in the first place. They also had a wooden cake stand with a wooden cake display on it, it was gorgeous! There was also a good selection of Eric Carle toys and books and as I love the Hungriest Caterpillar this was a huge plus for me. In addition the children's clothing and toys there's also a small ladies fashion section with a rail of pretty tops and dresses. In addition to this there's a little vanity table that has Paul and Joe make-up displayed on it beautifully. I also have to mention the staff who were lovely and really friendly, when I popped in it was two girls working and they couldn't have been nicer, chatting away to all the customers and making everyone feel really welcome indeed, very knowledgeable about the products and seemed to really like working here too. Definitely deserving of five stars.

My friends and I always try very hard not to ogle the shop on our walk from Scotmid to my house and vice-versa. We avert our eyes because things in there are pretty and not cheap at all. Sometimes, though, there are those rare occasions when there's something at a reasonable price. My flatmate and another friend bought me a gorgeous dress for only 15 pounds, while most dresses there are in the 40 pound price range, if not more. They also sell children's clothes. I'm not sure if this is specific to the Marchmont area (there are lots of middle-class parents in this area as well as students). The women who work there have always been really kind to me. The dress my friends bought me had a tiny fault and they sent it off to get repaired at the tailor's for me. I don't know if this was standard, but I'm just glad I didn't have to argue about it at all. I'm not a fan of confrontation, you see. So if you do have some money to spend, this is a great place to get something, as the shop advertises, bohemian and dressy.

It's a great place to stop by if you're planning on getting something special to take home for a loved one. I did a double take when I saw Lady Di's face hanging above the door, however. I actually peered in disbelief for a bit. But my appalling eyesight does not deceive me - you can get her memorial tartan here. I don't know what I think of that venture and want to be tactful. I can, however, tell you a funny joke that I thought up whilst taking a Yelp picture for this establishment. If you want to hear it, drop me a line. Now that I've suggested it's funny, it's probably not even!

This store sells both men's and women's clothing, as well as baby and children's clothes which are so cute! The cashmere jumpers and cardigans are the softest things to touch - really smooth and warm - and are of excellent quality so they are guaranteed to last for years. Elgin Cashmere also sells trousers, skirts, nightwear and T-shirts. I love to come into this store and admire the gorgeous cashmere wraps and scarves which come in a variety of different colours and different tartans. As all their clothes are made with the finest cashmere, they are pretty pricey with cardigans and jumpers costing about £200 and scarves and shawls costing about £50. Elgin Cashmere is a fantastic Scottish store which sells some beautiful clothes, albeit at a price, but it is so worth it!
