It's very small, but utterly brimming with stock. It makes me feel like I'm in someone's attic, it's very personal. The collection ranges from old 1920s pocket mirrors to beautifully binded books, with nouveau inspired flowers running up the spine. The woman stationed behind the desk is absolutely lovely, and although it is an intimate setting she leaves you free to browse without badgering you to buy. The brooch collections are surprisingly cheap and she has a box full of antique postcards. There's something melancholy about rooting through a box full of heartfelt scribblings from another time, but it is nevertheless interesting. For film makers and art projects at least the donated, personalised cards and monochrome photographs would come to a good use. A Pandora's box of yesterday's treasure that you would willingly open if you're into well preserved, pretty bygones.

If you're into pixies, healing stones and a touch of magic, then you'll like it. My mum likes ornaments like these and it's a great wee resource not too far from the Royal Mile if you're looking for an impish wee pressie. I do love the scarf and earrings that I bought. There is a wide variety of items at a large range of prices. Jewelry, home decor, knick knacks. Much of it feels like they are one of a kind sort of items. I believe the lady that helped us was the owner. She showed us where to find the bargain items and was very upfront about why they were on sale. She also took some time - even though we were keeping her past closing time - to answer our questions and to tell us about her travels - you can really tell that she is living her dream. Quite inspiring! Makes me want to follow in the footsteps of her travels and perhaps follow in her footsteps and find a way to make the passion for travel also my job.

They offer a huge range of traditional engagement rings and you can even design your own one which, I guess, would make it extra special as you know you're the only person wearing that design. So we had a look in, and we were greeted with a lady in an apron, creating away in her workshop, tools in hand, plus a counter and glass cases displaying all sorts of beautifully, hand crafted jewellery items. Birte, the lady in the apron, and the jewellery designer and silversmith who creates the delights you can find in her cellar workshop, was really chatty and approachable, and answered all my inquisitive queries quite happily. Birte specialises in gold and silver work, with a lot of her work coming from commissions, although you can still wander in and buy any of the jewellery on display, if something takes your fancy. I love one off, unique jewellery, and the meticulously skilled and hand made nature of the jewels here really appeals to me. The look of the jewellery is classic, but with a modern edge, so it really is jewellery you'll keep wearing, rather than high fashion items that will lose their appeal in a matter of months. I also love the fact you can see Birte at work while you browse, as it gives you that feeling of reassurance that every bit of jewellery has been produced with care and attention.
