I have been a Joolz customer for more than 7 years now and can't fault it! I find the fantastic and eclectic silver collection fascinating: Hand made unique, antique pieces from Afghanistan and contemporary Karen Hill Tribe woven silver are my personal favourites. They have a museum-worthy collection of jewellery from all over the world. I am very sensitive to impurities/nickel in silver and would never normally buy unhallmarked silver simply because I would have a nasty allergic reaction to it, however not one piece of jewellery from Joolz has given me any trouble whatsoever.
The owner has been very helpful adjusting pieces for me, changing earring clasps etc and at no extra charge. The staff are always incredibly helpful and offer a personal service and friendly face, a rarity in the faceless mediocrity of the consumerist majority. They are patient and considerate, putting up with me taking 3 hours to choose one ring with smiles and good humour!
The prices are high only when compared to the likes of Primark, but then Joolz only supports and stocks Fair Trade, independent designers and producers and organic materials. Much of the clothing range is hand-loomed by people on traditional machinery, and none is mass produced in huge slave labour factories. Many of the gift items and handbags etc are made by would-be vulnerable people such as landmine victims and the disabled, young women in impoverished countries, allowing them an independent income, training, skills, in countries that have no supportive systems in place.
So actually the prices are not high at all when you consider the work, time, skills and production manner, as well as consideration for Green factors; it is cheap! In addition, the clothes I have bought in Joolz have lasted for years and years, they don't need replaced every season or even every year, it's not throwaway fashion, it's quality clothing that will augment your warddrobe for a decade, easily! Our modern throwaway society has no respect for labour, quality, or equality, but Joolz is a haven for clear conscience shopping that actually changes peoples lives for the better and you can wear the clothes and jewellery, without the need of shoving the guilt aside for that bargain you snapped up on the high street, because you know why that stuff is so cheap. read more
