    Greek bowl with Souvlaki Chicken
    Laurie R.

I was very excited to try the Mad Greek Restaurant. Finally an authentic Greek restaurant close to home. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming. We tried several of the selections on the menu, including the chicken lemon rice soup the Greek bowl with chicken Slovakia the side of hummus and pita, side of Greek fries and the beef and lamb gyro. All of the items came out very hot and fresh and were delicious. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again to try some of the other menu items such as the spanakopita and Greek salad. The owner was very pleasant and made sure all of his guests were well taken care of, and the waitress was very attentive. The pricing on the menu was reasonable based on the amount of food and quality of the food. I would highly recommend you try this place.

I want to love this place, but I can only like it. The food is too hit and miss for me to "not be…read moreable to wait" until my next visit. I'll eat here, but not as often as i would if they polished up their menu/execution. The chicken dishes, all of them, are terrible. They advertise "tender chicken cut into slices," but if you look at any of the pics on here, it's all the same - tiny, little chicken bits, dry and overcooked. The more obscure dishes are the way to go. They fail hard on the basics, but hit home runs on their more unheard of menu items. If you've never heard of something, but it sounds good - that's what you should order here. Chicken lemon rice: 3/10 Not enough chicken, lemon tastes artificial and weird, soup is bland. I've had better CLR at most any coney island. Chicken Gyro: 3/10 Chicken was dry, the orzo was dry and overcooked, tziki sauce was thick and lacked flavor. Plenty of chicken... I would have rather had less chicken, cooked better. I haven't seen their chicken kabob, but it seems like this place uses the thick part of their breast for the kabobs, and uses the scraps bits for all of their other dishes. Grape Leaves: 7/10 Good flavor, good sauce... wish the CLR soup tasted as good as the sauce from the grape leaves. Stifado: 9/10 Excellent dish. Good amount of beef, great flavor, nice stew. This is the dish that I would come back for. Bread basket: Bread: 4/10 - they serve the bread ice cold. Olive oil: 9/10 - excellent flavor, super light, nice lemon zest Service: 8.5/10 - good job. They had one guy for all 8 or so tables, but did he did a good job covering them. The busser/assistant did a good job at keeping our waters and bread full, but he tries to carry too much, and it causes a big distraction (glasses clunking, nearly falling over, re-stacking)... sometimes two trips is better than one... He also says "of course" (pet peeve) when someone says "thank you." Perhaps I'm weird, but I find that terribly dismissive, and off-putting.

Refreshing to have a new Mediterranean restaurant in the…read morearea and I highly recommend trying this place out! Hummus Republic offers a large assortment of greens, base ingredients (rice, couscous, warm garbanzo beans), sauces, and toppings that you can choose from to be served in a bowl, pita or wrap. EVERYTHING was fresh and flavorful, from the entire bowl combo down to each individually selected ingredient. There's a lot to choose from, but the menu is easy to follow and the staff are kind and patient. We chose the chicken shawarma bowl, added a mix of warm garbanzos with couscous, spinach, three dlifferent hummus- feta hummus, Kalamata olive and traditional hummus, along with a variety of toppings - dolmades, artichokes, onions, olives, cucumber. Topped it off with 2 dressings - Grandma's hot sauce (so good!) and lemon & olive oil. The combo we chose tasted great, especially the chicken and hummus. Portion was generous and satisfying.

We went almost at the closing time, but the staff was super friendly and apologetic for longer waiting due to them being short staffed that evening. We both had bowls with couscous and warm chickpeas plus some greens, mine had falafel, and hubby got chicken shawarma and lemon chicken. We also tried different kinds of hummus and spreads. Both bowls were good and fresh. The falafel was not the best I've had, but in combination with all other items, it was good. I really enjoyed the two tahini sauces, both delicious. They were out of the shitake mushroom that I really wanted to try. Hubby said the lemon chicken was far superior than the shawarma, and he wished he had just that one. The only thing I wish is that they would give you more hummus/spreads. It's really just a tiny scoop. Also, the printed menu lists the veggies and sauces are unlimited, but I guess they changed their mind as there were labels on the glass that 5 toppings are the max and 2 sauces. That is a bummer. Another thing I've noticed is that the bowls have much more food than the wraps. They are really skimpy on the toppings for the wraps. Overall, nice and fresh food but a little expensive for what you get. The entire place was super clean.
