I had a great first experience with Mad Dog Armory. Cash was very helpful and Frank made quick work of the modifications I wanted on my Walther PDP. I'll be back for sure! read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I had signed up for the Combo first timers/conceal carry class and drove all the way out to the Largo location to find out it was cancelled. The said they could not reach me because they had the wrong phone number. Um...you also had my email address. They gave me a phone number to text in order to reschedule. That person has been very non-responsive and was not helpful at all in rescheduling the class. These guys may know their guns but not how to treat their customers. I have since requested a refund but have not heard back yet. Stay tuned! read more

One of the best, if not the best place to go in the Tampa Bay Area! Frank, Cash, and everyone else at the Tampa location are great! Very knowledgeable and helpful from novice to expert, they will steer you in the right direction. HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

I wish I could leave zero or negative stars! This is the worst company and gun store in the United States! Customer service?? Hahaha they don't have any.. they charge their customers money after money after money after money for work they screwed up on! They say "oh we will definitely make it right!" lol that's a lie! They would rather die than make it right without getting more money out of you!! read more

Frank was great! I had a dummy round stuck in my Beretta 1301 and he had it out in five minutes or less. Both Cash and Frank are class acts! Thank you both for the help! read more

Just took the basic hand gun safety class as I never handled a gun before. The class was very comprehensive and covered all the basics. It was followed up by time at the range where I could put into practice what was taught in the class. The instructor, Lawrence Downing, was very patient and made time to guide each of the 4 of us in the class so that we practiced safely with the correct form and handling of the gun and worked on improving our accuracy in hitting the target. Highly recommended! read more

All the employees are super helpful and kind! Helped me pick out my first firearm after discussing what kind of firearm would be best for my situation! Took the full monty course as well which was extremely informative and helpful to someone who beforehand had minimal firearm knowledge!! Great prices too from what I can tell! read more

Handle transfer fast and without any fuss. Purchased several weapons, springs, and threaded barrels. No issues. Highly knowledgeable and gunsmithing is done by professionals who value you discussion and the accuracy is very, very good. They listen and don't just start milling barrels. read more

Took The Full Monty class with the family. Andy, our instructor was fantastic! The class was thorough and so interesting. I'd never been around hand guns before and I left the class knowing so much more than just shooting. Great info! Thank you! read more

GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!! I spent $160 on a class just for ladies to better my knowledge of firearms. I got the date wrong and missed my class. I spoke to several associates that told me I should stop in and the manager would probably allow me to take the next class. WRONG. I stopped in and the manager told me to pay the $160 AGAIN if I wanted to take the next class. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The class still went on. My absence cost them no money. The fact that I wasn't allowed to make up the class says they only care about the money. I will go somewhere else to take a class. read more

I was very impressed with Mad Dog.when I went in the first time, they were very friendly and helpful.there prices are fair and there helpfulness was great. Took a class and am happy with how everything went. Thank you Shad read more

Matt is super friendly and helped me out a ton! Great place! I highly recommend coming here!

The Full Monty class (conceal carry & beginner handgun) was EXCELLENT. The instructor, Dan, is all over it. Super qualified and a very, very good instructor. Just knowing all about a subject doesn't, in my opinion and experience, necessarily make someone a great instructor. But Dan is a great instructor. He really broke things down, made sure every single student in the class understood every single thing, and drilled us individually so we could actually DO the things we were learning about. I went from zero to being able to do this. There was also an assistant instructor, whose name I don't remember, but he was also extremely qualified and extremely helpful. Very happy to have discovered this store and these classes. read more

Mad Dog Armory - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Largo, Florida

My husband and I took their shooting class and It was one of the best experiences! I feel extremely comfortable with my gun now. I was very impressed! read more

I learned about this place when Julian Blitz took over the Wild Bunch, a female gun club. When I picked up my SW Bodyguard .380 following adjustments at the shop, I noticed bags of ammo on a lower shelf. I asked the price and if they were right for my gun. I was told "yes" and purchased. Off to target practice a few days later, I realized they were 9mm! I took them and receipt to the next club meeting and gave to Julian. Instead of issuing a check, she mailed a gift card. I returned the card promptly and asked for a refund as I have no intention of doing business here. She was very unpleasant when I became ill at the shooting range, and months later my money has not been returned. read more

Took the full monty class. Very informative. Jillian was a great instructor & very helpful at the range with each and every student. My only complaint is that apparently Mad Dog Armory sells - or gives - your email address out, as I have been spammed A LOT since taking that class. So you may not want to divulge your primary email address to Mad Dog Armory. read more

We can't say enough good about Mad Dog Armory. The owners Shad & Jillian Biltz are great people with high business standards and it shows in all of their employees. Being in business for over 40 years we tend to look at and notice more things than others may. From the very first time we walked in the door we were treated like their only customer by their extremely educated, helpful and patient staff. This was impressive due to the fact that they were very busy, as always. We were steered not only to the items that we were looking for but also to ones that really fit our personal needs best. Never once did they try to upsell us or suggest items that we weren't ready to buy and we found that their prices were very competitive. We also took, and will continue to take classes from Mad Dog Armory which are excellent, from Basic all the way through Concealed Carry. You come away not only educated on "safety first" but with a full knowledge of the laws, guns and shooting techniques. The personal attention that they give to each of their students is very impressive, no matter what level of experience you may have. We did our research before ever walking into Mad Dog Armory and found them to be the highest rated gun shop in the area and we can easily see why. With all of our positive experiences we feel very comfortable recommending Shad, Jillian and the team at Mad Dog Armory to anyone. Larry & Pam Bennett read more

My wife, daughter and I took the CCL class with Shad and found the process very informative. Good power point presentation to simplify the legalese and all the time in the world for questions. This is a small gun store that always has some kind of sale going on with their hand guns. The staff is very friendly and well informed. The owner is not afraid to match online pricing where possible and they have a surprisingly good selection of hand guns and ammo. read more

Super friendly when I went in to ask for ammo they said they didn't have it but they'd order it and they did it got there three days later and there's no price gouging which is fantastic and hard to find now, no more shoot straight for me I'll be going to mad dog from now on. read more

The service buying the pistol was very good and helpful. As really being a first time owner of a weapon, I signed up for the Full Monty. I was expecting to learn about safety and proper handling of the weapon. They started the class with conceal carry, after that I was asked to leave for being unsafe with my weapon which was not loaded as requested for the class. For $199, I really didn't learn anything, I'm still as clueless as I was in the beginning. Next time I will take beginners class separate. read more

Jillian and Shad are very knowledgeable, honest, and have a great training program that is focused on gun safety.
