Stopped by Mad Chicken and the food definitely lived up to the name--bold, crispy, and full of flavor. I ordered the chicken tenders and fries, and everything came out hot and fresh. The chicken had that perfect crunch on the outside and stayed juicy inside, with seasoning that actually stood out instead of tasting plain. The fries were golden and well-seasoned too, not soggy like at some fast-food spots. The restaurant had a clean, modern vibe, and the staff was friendly and quick with service. Overall, Mad Chicken is a great spot if you're craving crispy comfort food that hits every time.

Decided to try Mad Chicken and was severely underwhelmed. Quite pricey for the quality of food. The chicken tenders were flattened so all I could really taste was the breading and the fries lacked seasoning big time. The sauce containers are pretty small and you'll be charged extra for additional sauce - but it's needed to make up for the overall lack of flavor. Also their garlic parmesan dipping sauce had a strong undertone of lemon and was a bit off putting.

We got the Mad & Cheese bowl and Mad fries. Not sure how I feel about the meals... Mac and cheese flavor was kind of bland, and the chicken on top with sauce (mad sauce) just didn't really go together with it. The waffle fries were all soggy, sitting underneath the chicken. There was not that much sauce on it (got the mad chipotle flavor). Chicken itself was crispy and good though.

Sandwich was large and tasty and the Mac & Cheese was tasty. Plenty of sauce options and side options including tater tots and jalapeño poppers.

Mad chicken salad with grilled chicken. I ordered the salad without dairy and without egg.

Update: about 4 hours later I had a big stomach issue after eating a salad from here. Avoid. As you may have seen by my tip on initial check-in on this restaurant, I noticed two issues right away. One was the touchpad, which was all sticky. The other was the bathroom, which smelled like someone had smoked in it. I notified the super nice counterperson who then Immediately worked to resolve both issues. After retrieving my salad on my way out the person from the back came out and thanked me for letting him know about the bathroom and he said it certainly wasn't anyone who worked there who did it. I think that was a nice gesture, and he was grateful that I brought it to his attention. As for the salad, it did come with cheese. The chicken was seasoned fairly well, but was a little overcooked and therefore dry and a bit rubbery. The salad was reasonably fresh, although there was a lot of iceberg lettuce and not that much in the way of other vegetables. I usually make my own salad dressing when I can, so I don't know if their dressing is good or not. I will probably try this location again, as I work nearby.

The tenders are big and hot to touch. The chicken is good but it's not out of this world. 8 tenders $16 after taxes.

A bartender greeted me and gave me water. For my drink, I took the chocolate old fashioned (13 dollars). It was strong enough and chocolatly to enjoy. For my main plate, I chose the chicken wings (10 for 17 dollars), half fat rabbit sauce (quite garlicky) and other half siracha. While the wings were not breaded, they were still fried. It was definitely crispy, but still meaty and tender. The sauces were flavorful, and the siracha had the right amount of heat. The ranch dressing was homemade and so good, I ended up drinking it. There could have been more celery, but it was fresh and crispy. They only had one dessert, and unfortunately it wasn't homemade, so I passed. My bartender was friendly, but busy. She had a helper, but lots of patrons to serve. Yet, she was still very nice and helpful when needed. The vibe is social and casual. I would have thought they would have more USF students, but mostly locals who are enjoying a good atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available as well, and it looks like you can bring your pooch too. When it was time to check out and pay, I noticed they forgot to charge me for my drink. When I mentioned that, they told me not to worry about it. It was a very nice gesture from them. Parking here is easy as it is located in the Publix complex. There is also a Don Julio's and Bundt Cakes nearby for dessert too. The Fat Rabbit pub provides great casual bar food in a social atmosphere. The indoor dining is large enough to feel comfortable, and outdoor seating is also there if you want to enjoy with your dog. I am glad I chose this place again as it was near my hotel. Definitely coming back for more great bar food at reasonable prices. Overall: A

Cons: Prices are a bit expensive for what you get. Most dishes are in the $17-19 range. I was expecting either a lot more food quantity or a knockout taste. I know this is an independent restaurant, but it seems excessive. The meal I had is almost equivalent to a meal from the rank and file Chinese restaurants all around Tampa or Panda Express. The Orange Chicken had minimal spice. It's supposed to be sweet AND spicy. Pandas is just sweet and I'm afraid Fry and Wok follows the same beats. Liangs Asian bistro in New Tampa has OC that is sweet and spicy. It seems odd to me to do your own take on Americanized Chinese and not improve on it. No one asked me about spice level when I ordered FYI. I asked for tap water and I got hot tap water with no ice. I looked at the menu and all their drinks are $6-7 boba drinks but no canned or bottled soda . In this economy, they should serve some thing cheap as you're getting into $23/24 for one meal. Overall: It's a serviceable place to get Americanized Chinese but the prices and lack of spice make it redundant when there are so many similar and cheaper places.

The restaurant was clean, bright, and had ample seating and parking. I loved everything that I tried. All the food is prepared fresh, so everything came out piping hot. The firecracker chicken bowl was my favorite. I got it medium spice. It was absolutely delicious. It was hot, crispy, spicy, and a touch of sweet. The fried rice was super flavorful, and this is something I typically miss at typical Chinese food restaurants as I cannot eat pork. Of course, no pork in this fried rice. My partner got the sesame chicken, and I presume it was amazing because he wolfed it down so fast, I didn't have to even sneak a bite. The Japanese fried chicken was a 10 out of 10! It was lightly breaded, flavorful, and crispy. This place is a gem. I seriously recommend it and may even go back today. When we were eating, someone came in and ordered a mango matcha. It looked so good that I have to go back to try it.

The food here is consistently good, which is why we keep coming back. The only thing I've found a little inconsistent is the mint lemonade. Sometimes it's great, other times I wish I'd skipped it. That said, the food itself is always on point. Service is really good too, so I'm only taking one star off for the lemonade.

Their fried chicken is the best I've ever had, and the spice levels are actually legit. But my favorite thing on the menu is the peri peri chicken. The peri peri chicken is CRAZY good. The chicken sits on top of a tortilla, which I use to soak up all the juices and eat with the chicken. Even though it's grilled, it's unbelievably moist every single time. It's packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and ridiculously juicy. I seriously cannot get enough of it, and I HIGHLY recommend everyone try it. We tried this place about a year ago, and we had a completely different experience than before. I can honestly say, I won't be back. Not ever. Not even a chance. This place is filthy. The floors, the tables, the bathrooms (the worst I have ever seen), and even the napkin holders. I had immediate regrets upon stepping in based on the lack of cleanliness. The amount of flies swarming was alarming. The service was a zero. The girl working watched us order at the kiosk, the kiosk wouldn't let us pay, we tell her, and she says "oh it doesn't work." So we ordered with her even though she sat around watching us waste our time. I ordered a wing meal, told her I wanted the wings injected, and she said "we don't inject them. I will give you sauce on the side." The menu clearly says they inject wings, social media videos always show it, and also, my last visit there was also injected wings but she would give me no explanation other than "I will give you the sauce on the side." It was bizarre and I couldn't even get a "we don't do that anymore" from her. We ordered a chicken sando. The quality was horrible. Chicken tasted overly processed with bad texture. We also ordered a wing combo. The wings were flavorless. Absolutely flavorless. I ordered medium and there was zero spice. Not even a tad. Apparently they don't inject their wings anymore so there was no flavor in the wings. The quality was pretty bad. Also, the "sauce on the side" that the girl working promised me was not the sauce I ordered, it was the sauce she chose. The whole ordering experience was odd. Definitely seemed like someone who did not care about providing good service, good food, or a sanitary environment. We waited about 25 minutes for our food. About 3 people came in to get pickup orders while we waited and no one else. So we sat and waited while the flys swarmed our heads. The cashier never once tried to come out and clean the filthy tables. She even paused doing nothing for a restroom break, used the filthy restroom, came out with WET hands, and grabbed a napkin from the dusty napkin holder on the filthy table to dry her hands. Then still never wiped down the table caked with food debris. Absolute terrible level of cleanliness, care, and service. It ruined my appetite. After waiting that long, the Mac n cheese was ice cold. 25 minutes for Mac n cheese with a chill to it and no heat. I'm convinced they pulled it out of the refrigerator and forgot to heat it up. This place just had too many misses: a lack of quality, a lack of good service, and a lack of any sanitation standards. Never again. We didn't finish our food. We threw it away outside.
