My experiences in this Macy's have honestly been great! I've never been mistreated or judged by the staff. I feel confident in my choices of product variety, in the cleanliness of the store and in the quality treatment by the staff. Bree particularly was outstanding in assisting me and has definitely earned her position as a lead in her department. As an administrative college major I just have to say that this woman definitely deserves to be recognized for her role as the team leader in her department. People like her are why customers come back and remain loyal to their choices of businesses. I love coming back to Macy's because I know I am valued and can be confident in my shopping experiences with this Macy's. Thank you. read more

Normally, the interior layout of Macy's is typically on the high-end (same with the selection) and so are the prices. However, this location used to be a Robinsons-May, and when Macy's took over, the layout of the store (save for a few minor changes) has remained the same. Even the pricing policies have remained somewhat the same because I have been able to find good deals occasionally here (and that's quite rare in most Macy's I've been to). For instance, I remember buying lots of brand men's underpants here because it had been marked down 75 percent (down to less than $3 for a two-pack)! And sometimes the home section has good deals too, depending on when and what time of the year you go. Thus, if you are looking for a bargain at Macy's, but don't mind the store being a little more down to earth, try shopping at this location. read more

Went in there the other day for my first Mac buying experience ever (mind you, only to buy one of their collector's limited edition lines) and it was a very unpleasant experience. one employee- i believe her name started with a "B"- was giving me attitude the entire time. yes, i was taking my time. but why was i taking my time? because MAC aint the cheapest make up and i needed to choose wisely in what i was buying for the simpsons collection. the whole thing just made my evening more stressful and disappointing and it was quite a shame because this brand of make up sure does get a lot of praise and hoopla! read more

M.a.c is the place that use to get me excited every weekend. But this m.a.c counter was the first time I disliked the employees. You'd think they'd be like every other m.a.c counter/store friendly, helpful, amazing?! YOU'D THINK. HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT. They have a pre-judgement attitudes as soon as you approach the counter. Most of the employees dont take the Tim or even seem intrested if you look like you dont have money. Sad to their knowledge I dress comfortable. When im not working said only time I get good help is whem im dressed in my work clothes. Only one girl was nice and seemed not to judge me when I was in my gym clothes. I will only go to see Dannika and the cute blonde with highlights.. The only reason I gave 3 stars are because those 2 girls were amazing. read more

Second time that my online order says "delivered" and it's not. Since I track my orders and like to be there when they're scheduled for delivery, I've been right by my door when my items were supposedly delivered. They had to refund my items, including a gift set I was excited to receive. Not ordering from them again. read more

I have been a VERY LOYAL Macy's customer for many years and for the most part had excellent customer service, that is why I shopped there. This last weekend I encountered one of the rudest employees ever. She was in the shoe department, and directed me to the BLUE WALL for information regarding a shoe I had in my hand, stating "THEY ARE NOT PART OF MACYS"! Well, excuse me, but when I am IN Macy's they are part of Macy's. The young lady should have said she would help me, by walking me over to the correct person or area, since she was only standing there doing NOTHING. I am paying off my card and giving my business to another company that will manage its' employees and treat customers' appropriately. It amazes me that Retail stores continue to wonder why people go to online shopping, NO RUDENESS, that is why...... read more

The Mac counter in santa Maria has horrible service and its unorganized their lip liners are all broken unsharpened, there aren't any sanitary wipes to wipe off the lipsticks. I waited over 20 min to get someone to help me and finally a girl acknowledge me gave some lipsticks to tried on and said "I'm going on break but someone will be here to help you" no one ever came to help me, I could it stolen all this makeup and no one would have even known. While waiting for the service I didn't get watching this one girl apply makeup on two different women using same brushes without cleaning them so gross..... Smh its all bad and unsanitary at Mac read more

I recently got a gift card and decided to get my makeup done at MAC.. I have had it done at other locations twice before and didn't end up liking it very much. The girl at this Macy's location was super sweet and didn't pressure me into something I didn't like. I ended up really happy with it. A couple days later I purchased a jacket online and it ended up not fitting well. I returned it to the store shortly afterwards and they didn't carry the item in store. The price had since gone up online but they not only honored the price I ordered it at but gave me an additional discount. And shipped to my home both times free. I had never ordered online from Macy's and don't usually like to order clothes without trying on first but it made the process easy. read more

Ugh this store. I don't like shopping here because everything is overpriced. It's unreal to me. BUT I had to do a few returns for Christmas and they wouldn't give me cash. So now I have this $120 gift card. I've been trying to spend it. I can't find 1 thing to purchase. Their location is so sloppy and messy. Their workers hate their jobs so you can tell they don't like helping customers. I couldn't find the prices to anything I was looking at. It was so frustrating. Ended up giving someone my gift card and getting cash in return. Don't plan on going back. read more

There were a few employees standing around doing nothing in the shoe department, but they were unwilling to help me. I was asked to stand in line and wait for someone who could get me the shoes in the sizes I needed. This Macys needs to do some customer service training with their employees. They were slow, inattentive and obviously not interested in serving customers. read more

I really like this Macy's. The people are VERY nice & they have great sales & excellent customer service. One of my favorite people is Julian in the fun makeup department that sells Urban Decay & Smash Box. I love my trips to Macy's !! read more

It's been a few years since I've been in a Macy's ( we don't have one where I live ) so this was a nice change of scenery as far as shopping goes. Can't wait to go back and shop some more. read more

What a dump. This Macy's gives all other Macy's a bad name. I had to search for an employee to make a purchase. If I wasn't so desperate I would have thrown my item down and ran. I guess it's typical, considering the "mall" that it's located in. I won't be back, unless of course I become desperate for some retail therapy. Or if I'm drunk. read more

Ordered product online which turned out to be too small. Receipt was not included in shipping box. Drove 30 miles to Santa Maria store to exchange (nearest to me). Purchase could not be found as no receipt was sent with delivery. Associate helping was chewing gum and said since the item is nearly 50% discount now, that's what would be refunded (replacement was not present in store). Team leader summoned after 15 minutes waiting for phone call to be answered. The item was eventually refunded at purchase price. -Please have knowledgeable associates -Please forbid gum while on duty -Please maintain more than one associate to 10 customers -Take a lesson from Nordstrom Always loved Macy's, but today left a "bad taste". read more

It never fails every single time I go in to Macy's and shop their Loss Prevention follows the heck out of me. At first I just ignored them but after shopping their for years it's so irritating. I have a Macy's card and DO NOT STEAL!!! I don't know what to do I've mentioned it to the cashier in the past but don't know what to do now. I usually end up hurrying up to buy my stuff and leave real quick. What's funny about all this is I can spot them the min they walk past me one of their many times. I've been told by an employee their that I'm the type of person they look for, Really!! Are you serious. This is the reason I only shop their when I really have to which isn't very often. I would love for the manager to call me and talk about this. Thy won't though. read more

I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! worse customer service I've ever had!! I rank this as bad as the two motorcycle dealerships here in town!!! ""THATS BAD"" so I have $800 cash in hand to buy a rope necklace that online said was on sale and in stock at town center location! I go in Macy's and every department was empty no sales lady's anywhere! And the departments that were ocupied were busy helping customers !! That's fine, but I couldn't get No one to even acknowledge me!! I finally track a lady down ask where I can find the neckalace!! She points and says other side of that escalator!!! Witch I went like a dummy to another dead end!!! After 10 min of getting the run around I finally thru my hands up in frustration and left!! It's almost like if your a man in macys good luck getting any type of service here!!!! read more

Now I remember why I shop online. This Macy's is horrible. One person working the shoe dept. and they don't have any regular sizes in the styles I ask for . This is the 3rd time in a month I have given the store a try but no more wasting my time. Clothes are strung out on the racks...resembles the clothing racks at Target or Kohl's. Not all Macy's are like this...unfortunately this is our town's only option for upper end department store. read more

I was in the makeup section at Macy's today picking up a few things, the lady that helped us was so sweet and helpful. There was this one incident while we were checking out and this rude lady came and gave her a hard time for no reason, i felt really bad cause i understand how frustrating those situations are. She was so kind to her even though she didn't get it in return. Not fair. I don't know her name but thank you for the great service! read more

I used to work here, so I know what the bad reviews are all about. This store is understaffed, and in dire need of a make over. The fitting rooms and bathrooms are just ghetto! The only good thing about it is the cosmetics department. In SM there is no other place to get upscale cosmetics and fragrances. The rest of the store is really nothing special. Overpriced crap. read more

This undoubtedly is an oasis in the desert that is the Santa Maria mall. They've kept it clean and organized. I recommend that you stay within this sanctuary and dare not veer off into the wild (the mall proper). If you cherish your life and the lives of your loved ones, park outside off Broadway right outside of Macy's and avoid the parking structure at all costs. read more

I live in AG and Macy's is the closest "nice" department store to us and we went there for a sports coat for a new job. I was pleased with the selection of low cost coats. We found one that my wife liked (yes, if you are married you know this is the only opinion that matters). The coat needed a little tailoring, that is where things started to unravel. The sales rep gave me a great quote on the tailoring so I decided to come back with some old coats at home and get them done too. Great plan, right? I came back the next day only to find out from the manager that they don't do it there, they send it out to LA, it takes 4 weeks, and she admitted they don't even know how to fit the coat and mark it properly to get the tailoring done right. They recommended a local dry cleaner (who had horrible Yelp reviews) ... oh how I miss Gottschalks in SLO. read more

Worst customer experience I've ever had. Called on a Thursday from Orange County to have a pair of Levi's put on hold for Saturday.. they were the only location with my size available. I was told this was okay and to come in and they should be there, no problem. Luckily I didn't solely make the trip just for these pants or I would've been absolutely livid. Once I arrived at the store I asked multiple people for assistance only to be ignored or sent in circles to ask other employees. Then I was told the pants were no longer being held so I had to look on the floor myself with no luck. Huge waste of my time. Also - the store barely seems like its being held together by strings. Was filthy and seemed dilapidated. Macy's - show some pride in your stores and take care of it. Very disappointed. read more

Happened to be in SM with my daughter who happened to need a swim-suit. It was my first visit to this particular Macy's. The first thing I noticed was the displays (mannequins). They seemed poorly styled, sloppy, like the clothes were the wrong size or the associates hadn't touched them up since the mannequins were changed. The racks were also unnecessarily messy, as it was a Tuesday afternoon during school-time. She found something suitable to try on and we went into the dressing room, which was absolutely disgusting. How can a store be torn up THAT badly (I'm looking at you, carpets!)... Does "corporate" EVER walk this store and look into those fitting rooms? I would not have tried on or purchased anything for myself just based off the fitting room situation, but lucky for Macy's my daughter really needed a swimsuit and we had to buy it that day. So sad, I really wanted to like the store, but it was just too gross for me to go back, willingly. read more

Customer support here was great lady's helped me find the shoe i was looking for quickly with no hesitation.

Yes this isn't the nicest Macy's I've ever been to. And our mall stinks BUT every time I've gone in the sales people are helpful. and when I can't find stuff they order it and ship it to our house. Very convenient!! And a little known fact is the Macy's will honor sale prices one day before the sales start. We've gotten some very good deals on home items this way. And this is new stuff not clearance items!! So if you're looking for a high end Macy's don't come here. LOL but we're a small town with a crappy mall. And it beats driving to SB or Ventura. read more

I've been to Macy's quite a few times. Today i went to get some new foundation. All those women working there in the make up department saw me but not once offered to help me. I think if you are going to do your job do it all the time not when you feel like it. read more

I used to always buy all my makeup at Gottchalks and always attended their private shopping events to buy makeup, but since its closing I have had switched to buy at the counters at this macys though it is quite a drive. From the makeup counters to the people on register throughout different departments, this is by far the worst customer service I have received from retail store. I usually spend a good amount of money on makeup every time I would visit the store, mostly from the chanel and mac counter, but since my last experience I will not be returning there again and now do all my makeup and fragrance shopping at Sephora. I went in looking for a to buy foundation and some powder due to my skin lightening up during the winter. I had a card for a sample of any foundation and wanted to try the new chanel one. Usually there would be a younger hispanic lady and an older oriental one working every time i would make a Chanel purchse. The lady working at the counter that day was a larger lady, dark hair, with almost clown-like makeup and drawn on eyebrows. For such a brand, her appearance was not professional at all! I was almost scared to ask, but I asked the lady if she could match me up with the right color and was very hesitant about it. Instead of giving me a sample and matching me up, she kept trying to pressure me into making appoint for a makeup consultation with her, and said that I did not know how to apply my makeup and it looked sloppy and that she would show me how to do it right because I "obviously had difficulty". Ive had many rude employees that I have come across while shopping at this Macy's, but this one really crossed the line and made me furious. I have done makeup for years and have even worked with a makeup and skincare company where I had to learn more and take classes to perform makeup on their clients. So for an employee whose makeup looked like a drag queen chola to tell me that made me angry. Thankfully I now take my business elsewhere read more

I come into Macy's Santa Maria often, since it is closest to our home. The lady Janice in the home departments is an excellent employee always friendly and helpful. She has helped me in the past with Down Pillows and Sheets and today also helped with my purchase of towels, hand towels and wash cloths, totaling over 300.00. However toward the end of my purchase the Manager Janet don't have her last name, came up to Janice being very rude and said you must take lunch. I asked Janet if Janice could finish my purchase since she was just about finished. She avoided me and had her go to lunch not acknowledging my question. Afterward Janice went to lunch and Janet asked me to show all my receipts and looked into my bags like I was stealing. I do love Macy's so I will continue to go to Macy's but only to Santa Barbara. I will contact Frankie the District Manager ASAP and make a complaint about Janet but will also give Janice an excellent review. Thank you I hope someone at Macy will listen to my complaint, Linda Great review for Janice the store Associate. Terrible review for Janet the store Manager. read more
