This Macy's can deliver, yet at times the store falters terribly. During the holiday season, associates are available and looking to help shoppers. But otherwise it's hard to find an associate to purchase an item or ask questions. The shelves are usually in disarray with clothing or merchandise shattered about haphazardly. Most merchandise usually goes on sale at one point or another, so if one can hold off purchasing an item, it will be offered at a reduced price in a near future. Entrances are now only available on the ground floor. When parking on the upper levels of the garage structure, one must decend stairs to the first floor for entance. The restrooms are regularly maintained and are located on the second floor in the rear of the store by the children's clothing section. read more

Thank you to Erika and her team. They were able to trouble shoot some problems with my online order. Long story short, Macy's got right on it and resolved it quickly. Thank yo so much as it started as a problem and was like a snowball rolling down the hill. I'm sorry to read about other people's experiences yet it's time to acknowledge the great service that Macy's in Santa Maria gave me. This Macy's is smaller than most coming from Pasadena. From my observation, the Customer Service team is nice with their customers with no questions asked other than, was this merchandise damaged? Now, I walked straight thru the store to the Men's Dept. I needed a suit, quick. It didn't take long to get there, because it's the smallest Macy's I've ever been to. Tiny. That applies to the Men's Department, too. But, it's all we got in Central California. So, I'll take it! About a 1/3 of the suit and shoe selections as I've found at every other store. But, low and behold, I found a suit that I loved at a sale price. That's it, though -- no shoes, no ties, no shirts that I loved in the small selection they had. So, it fits the bill. read more

As a plus-size woman, it's increasingly hard to find nice clothing in Santa Maria. Macy's used to be one of the few places to shop. Their recent reconfiguration and downsizing of that department is dramatic. You used to be able to go to Macy's and find a pretty good selection of casual and dress clothes in the plus size, not so anymore. Their women's clothing department is massive yet they have hardly any space allocated to plus size clothing. With the closing of the Avenue dress shop last year, they could have a corner on the market, if they chose to expand this department. This is a missed opportunity for Macy's. read more

Dropped in to Macy's today for some bra shopping. Not my favorite shopping but got it done today. Lingerie is on the 2nd floor. When I went to check out, Diana B. Was super friendly and very helpful. With using a coupon & $10 in rewards my total went from close to $75 (2 items) down to a little over $50. She was helpful, courteous & really nice. Great customer service! Awful service as a black woman you all MUST do better and stop hiring people who have a problem respectfully servicing all of Macy's customers. Do NOT error in business as usual pre plandemic forgetting the value of black dollars. I will not debate with your associate about my money. Great sales...a bit understaffed, but all the staff they do have are above par. They go out of their way to help you, and are very knowledgeable. Another thing though I wish they had was carts..( elegant carts like kohl's would be great) without a cart its frustrating because your arms & hands start hurting, I was dripping things etc...& forget shopping in multiple departments....people would be able to do a lot more shopping with a cart... I went in one time & was looking for numerous household items like kitchenware etc. But was unable to carry what I wanted so I gave up & just left. Been hearing that Macy's is losing profits, possibly closing down a lot of stores. Well after my visit today I can see why. Had to ask for help from two women standing behind the register talking to each other, drinking a soda. Then when I was ready to pay, I had to go find the ladies. Found one who said she couldn't ring me up and had to get a sales associate. Store is a disaster clothes on the ground and on top of racks. Fitting rooms are dirty with trash on the floor. Nothing more than a high-end Kmart! Clothes were tossed everywhere! There was children's clothing in the lingerie department there were clothes laying all over the floor, slippers all over the floor I was there for 20 minutes and not once did I see anyone to help me in that section. My friend (and coworker) and I decided that this year we would treat ourselves to new ensembles to wear for our upcoming work company Xmas party. Since this is the "event of the year " where everyone dresses to the nines, Macy's was our first stop. Unimpressed by lackluster everyday inventory and an overly excessive stock of Xmas Knick knacks, my hunt ended rather quickly. My friend, on the other hand, was able to find a handful of dresses that interested her. Off to the fitting room we go... Or so we thought... Then the fishing expedition began: (aka finding a fitting room without a rack of clothes acting as a barricade) After three failed attempts to find a fitting room lacking said barricade, we finally found an employee to ask if there were any available fitting rooms, "petites" in a condescending tone as she scurried away from the ten second disruption to her life. (Without even offering to direct us in the right path to get to "petites") There wasn't an attendant at this "available " fitting room, the front stall was the dumping ground of rejects, where my friend discarded all four of the dresses she tried on. So my question is this, since I spent a few years working in retail: Why, within a couple of days time span near Black Friday, would a high end retail powerhouse such as Macy's, the only Macy's within a sixty mile radius within the only mall in the same parameters, have such drab inventory, one fitting room open, and the dirtiest restroom I have ever seen anywhere with their price point caliber??!! Those decisions are made well above my pay grade and a reminder that I am once again thankful that I'm not spending another holiday working in retail Hell. PS: We have both since discovered that the best option for shopping at Macy's is by going online and opt to either pick it up in store or after spending a certain amount, it will ship free to your house. read more

Went in to buy some dresses,anytime I would ask a question the 2 young people in dress department would kinda ignore me and were no help because they were to in volved in a personal convo with each other,and when I asked the young man about a price he was pretty much talking to me like I was stupid.When I went to check out at customer service or whatever it's called,I walk up and the lady just ignores that I'm waiting to check out and keeps doing her thing for a few minutes til finally I'm like "im ready".The whole time she didn't say a word to me and made it known she was irritated and kept tossing things on the counter in a harsh manner and then made it seem like it's my fault for a tag not being on one of the dresses and started making a big deal about it as if it were the end of the world. read more

My Christmas shopping was made so easy! Perfect customer service in the sneaker department. Was helped by a boy named Andy who was very attentive and very helpful which surprised me considering he was so young. Picked up some shoes for my sister and was helped quickly! Giving one star is generous for this Macy's. This is the worst Macy's I have ever been in and probably won't go back, if ever for a long long time. For starters this place is filthy. Dressing room mirrors are so filthy it's hard to see what you are trying one and the lighting is almost non existent. Not even sure how often the jewelry counters are cleaned and do they even own a vacuum or have a housekeeping department. I used to shop at the Macys in San Jose and even before it was remodeled it was nicer than this one. I can't believe corporate would let this Macy's get this way. I even wrote a review directly to the store and it was probably to deaf ears. I spend a lot of money at Macys and because of the condition of this one I can honestly say I will be saving a good chunk of change because I have changed my shopping patterns to other stores rather than go to this depressing excuse for Macy's.. Macy's in the Santa Maria Town Center is well-stocked and large, at least by my standards, and just filled with goodies many of which I could take home. I kind of love the kitchen section and the pot and pan sets which are of incredibly good quality and prices all over the map and some Hefty discounts from some even heftier list prices. The other thing that interested me was the luggage selection with the same list price to discounted price relationships. This Macy's location makes me wish I had a different name (my name is Macy). Walked in today and this store was such a filthy mess. It's expected to have things a bit out of place during a shopping season, but this was terrible. We couldn't even walk through the shoe department as there were mass amounts of shoes all over the floor. Clothes all over in random sections and on the floor as well. Mannequins torn apart also lying on the floor in the clothing departments, with no clothes on. Let me just say, these mannequins' top halves are pretty realistically made...had to put a shirt on one of them myself. Either there's a large shortage of staff or they need to train their staff to be a bit more rational with their duties. My experiences in this Macy's have honestly been great! I've never been mistreated or judged by the staff. I feel confident in my choices of product variety, in the cleanliness of the store and in the quality treatment by the staff. Bree particularly was outstanding in assisting me and has definitely earned her position as a lead in her department. As an administrative college major I just have to say that this woman definitely deserves to be recognized for her role as the team leader in her department. People like her are why customers come back and remain loyal to their choices of businesses. I did my wedding registry at this Macy's and it was such a terrible experience. I tell all of my newly-engaged friends to avoid this place and register somewhere else instead. The customer service was awful and the employees were uninformed. We had to go back a few times to make some exchanges and each time what should have taken 10 minutes took anywhere from 30-60 minutes because the employees working didn't know how to do a return or exchange in the computer system. Also, they arent able to look up your registry so when you bring something in you have to have a gift receipt in order to return it (which oftentimes for a wedding people don't do that). Other stores like Bed Bath & Beyond will give you cash back (not just store credit) for anything you return and they can look it up on your registry. lastly, selections at Macy's vary so much that oftentimes they don't have the same merchandise as online or in other stores so you never know what you're gonna get Macy's in Santa maria was one big headache Dont do a wedding registry there! read more

Since I track my orders and like to be there when they're scheduled for delivery, I've been right by my door when my items were supposedly delivered.
