Julia at the Macy's customer courtesy counter was personable and made the return a pleasant, quick, and easy experience Macy's has a vast online merchandise selection, mirroring that of its flagship store in Manhattan. Macy's is a department store but more like a fashion store! They do have some kitchen stuff and linens and perfumes as well as men's women's & kids fashions as well as shoes! They also have some fantastic sales usually seasonal. Prices can be anywhere from high to very reasonable especially during a sale! Their personnel are very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

We shop here quite frequently and have never really encountered any problems. Today was a little different. My daughter purchased a bottle of perfume. The sales woman had the audacity to highlight the cost. It really came across as condescending, like she was insinuating she couldn't afford it. I'm always very careful when dealing with classless ignorance. I asked her if she does this to everyone. She said yes. Lies! Because if she did, Macy's would absolutely have a problem. I called management and reported the incident. I think her name was Cray. She was no help. She apologized for the way we felt, not for her employees actions. I have a problem with that. The time she wasted being a jerk, she should've spent washing that filthy, white button down she was wearing. Macy's invest in some diversity training along with personal hygiene. read more

About an hour ago, I stopped by Macy's to find something to wear for a wedding this weekend. First, I found three beautiful dresses on the clearance rack for less than $25.00 each. Then, when I went to the women's shoe department, I met a wonderful employee named Aaron. I told him that I don't really know what shoes to pair with the dresses because I lack style. He was amazing! He immediately knew what shoes to recommend. He assisted me in finding the right size and perfect fit. I purchased both of the shoes that he recommended. They go perfectly with the dresses and I'm excited to wear them to the wedding! read more

This place used to be good. Has gone downhill in recent years. I blame management. Most times running on a skeleton crew Was there a few days ago. Found some silverware that I wanted to purchase. Looked around and no one available to check out. Walked up towards the mall entrance as that's where I was headed. No one in men's to check out so kept walking. Only one around was in the shoe department and I pretty much looked for signs and there is a sign that says customer service above shoe department so that's where I went. A little old lady behind the register snapped at me "there are two other registers back there". I said "I'm not walking all the way back there". She proceeded to roll eyes, make faces and mumble things under her breath. I stayed in line. A little while later another associate came behind the register and the lady asked "is there anyone back there?" to which the other girl responded "they're four deep" and at that time I was the next in line so why would I leave. Finally My wife and I were waited on. I tried to explain about there not being anyone back there to wait on me on the side of the store that I walked through and I said I don't really need attitude just want to buy something. I said something about speaking to management about this and she said something like "well if you could get them to do anything to help that would be great". No apology for the attitude,eye rolls or comments under breath. I do remember her giving the lady in front of me attitude as well because she didn't know if her purchases where blue tag or pink tag or whatever. She just wanted to buy her stuff and didn't even know what she was talking about Not sure why people work in customer service and don't know how to show respect to customers. She just really seemed annoyed that she was working in the shoe department but also at times had to ring up purchases from other departments even though there's a sign hanging above their register which says customer service Didn't appear to be any management people around and seems like that would be the time when they should be when there's a skeleton crew. Aside from the lancaster macys, this is the best one in the harrisburg metro area. Catered to a more "conservative" style, fashionistas might not be too delighted with this store. Not as much of a selection as you would find in bigger cities but pretty good for these small mountain townships. Great customer service, stocked as much as possible and very organized. read more

The store is smaller than most Macy's, so the selection of clothing is quite limited. As a result, we usually shop at Macys when we're visiting larger metro areas. However, we recently stopped in at the Capital City Mall store to take advantage of Clinique bonus time. What a mistake! There was a skeleton crew in Cosmetics, no familiar faces. The gentleman that waited on us seemed a bit knowledgeable but was poorly groomed, while a poorly fitted mask, and was so consumed with his own anxiety, he could barely function. I truly felt sorry for him. [I would love to know why a hiring manager thought this gentleman was the best person for the job.] After working with this person for over 30 minutes, I left the counter empty-handed because nothing I wanted was in stock. We then went to pay for a comforter and the two cashiers could not explain why my cash back money was not available to use on this purchase. I was told "I don't even think there's anyone you can call". She was sincere in her response but I thought that was a sad commentary on what Macy's had become. read more

Not enough help at jewelry/watch counters. On several occasions I've waited over 25min in line to get help. Very frustrating!
