There's something about the Yelp review that Scott A. wrote for Jamia. I bookmarked her several…read moreyears ago, thinking I would contact her if a need arose. Jamia is an attorney who specializes in estate planning. Many people, including myself, seem to think estate planning is "optional." As a single parent in his late 40s (midlife crisis) during the COVID pandemic, I finally realized otherwise. Of course, I had no idea what documents I would need and how much it would cost. So, I sent a message from her website. Here things I like about her service: + Jamia responds to inquiries very quickly. I have almost always heard back from her on the same day. + We first spoke on the phone for a little bit. I had a consultation appointment the following week. Both of these were complimentary. + I found it very easy to talk to her and ask her questions. No matter what I do, I always have a lot of questions. She made me feel comfortable asking all my questions. + I spoke with a couple of friends who have worked with estate planning attorneys and learned that her fees are very reasonable. On top of it, she does it for a flat fee, which gives you big peace of mind when working with an attorney. I'm a linear thinker with an investigative personality! On top of it, I hate wasting things, particularly my hard earned money. That said, I usually do a LOT of research before making purchases small or big. When it comes to estate planning, all it took was Scott A.'s review. It's a really short review, and I still don't know why I was sold immediately. I did not check out other attorneys in town at all before contacting Jamia. I'm so glad that I reached out to her. I will update my review once she completes all my documents. Last but not least, I thank Scott A for his review! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you found this review useful, please hit "useful" or "cool." I met with her for consultation and advice on a family law matter and she thoroughly and efficiently answered all of my questions including explicit directions for next steps. Knowing I was only seeking advice and not representation she didn't even charge me for our time together, which clearly demonstrates nickling and diming is not her way. Very positive experience and grateful to her, Greta gives lawyers a good name.

I cannot say enough about Greta and the incredible service she provided me with. I have dealt with a few lawyers recently and I have to say, hands down, Greta was the most forthright, welcoming, knowledgeable, fair, and helpful of them all. I needed advice and some very specific guidance on family law matters, which she offered without hesitation and with utmost professionalism. From the initial phone consultation to the in-person meetings, Greta helped me navigate complex areas of law and made me feel as if I was in good hands assisting me with forms, procedure, and different protocols to help me with my case. I can say, hand on heart, it would have been a huge uphill task without her assistance. If you are looking for a lawyer, particularly in the family law area, please check out her services. Being local was also extremely helpful to me. Stay local and use Gold Creek Law, and especially Greta's expertise. You won't be disappointed.

The changes to the regulations of wills, representation agreements, and bequests mean that you should seek out a specialist to help you navigate this complex legal field. They even included the registration of the wills ( strongly recommended by our son, the labour lawyer...who told us to use a specialist firm). Meetings were done online, with reviews via pdf. Final signing was fine the vancouver office. Excellent service , wonderful staff and lawyers, and inexpensive as well. Have recommended and will do so for the future! James

She took the time to explain the process and all the BC requirements and idiosyncrasies (SO different than the laws governing such documents in Washington state, where I moved here from. Our US documents didn't translate to BC laws, necessitating the drafting up of new paperwork). Anyhow, Kristen was super patient with me, explaining everything to me, often repeating details (a few times!), and helping refer us to other resources we inquired about. I can't stress how much peace of mind it provides, especially as a parent, to have these documents done - and done correctly. Kristen responded to my emails and calls promptly, and I liked how they offer free notarization to their clients (note: other firms we used all charge for notarizing documents). There is free two-hour parking on 12th, and limited meter parking on Lonsdale. (I never had a problem getting a spot on 12th). Top-notch firm.

When I was looking for law firm in 2023 after being separated for a year I read review about Stuart Zukerman and his Paralegal Meena, being a dream team to have on your side during the divorce. My first conversation with Meena was incredible. She was knowledgeable and compassionate. I decided to have first meeting with Mr. Zukerman and Meena which went very well. I felt like I found right team to help me. Then I found out that Meena is leaving law firm. Since then every time I called, nobody knew anything about my case and I was given different person who supposed to be working with Mr. Zukerman. I was trying to be understanding as I know losing somebody like Meena with many years of experience and great knowledge of her job might be challenging for the firm. Mr. Zukerman was very often not available because of personal reasons. When I manage to make appointment to ask some questions, he never had my file and I had to repeat constantly the same facts we already discussed previously which created additional cost. His advice always was not to go to court as his fees would be between $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 that I should come to an agreement without court. Obviously, I was seeking help as I couldn't come to the agreement with my ex. It seemed like he didn't have Paralegal dedicated to work with him and he was lost in his extremely messy office with piles of papers all over the floor of his office. All this created additional cost. Then I was informed by email on November 15, 2024 that he is leaving and that Mr. Ron Huinink is going to take over my case. I have not heard from Mr. Huinink so I tried to schedule appointment through their website with no response. I was completely ignored like on many occasion during the time I have been client of the firm. I called and tried to make appointment, and I was told that I can make appointment with somebody else but not with him. Then I found out that reason for Mr. Zukerman leaving firm was completely different that it has been noted in the email. He lost license to practice law and was dealing with his own legal issues for long time and in my opinion he should remove himself from dealing with such a sensitive situation like divorce long time ago (Details could be find on Law Society of British Columbia website). I have felt betrayed by Mr. Zukerman and this firm and then the person who supposed to take over my case. I have requested refund of some of my fees without any success. Now I am working with different firm, and approach is very professional and as per their estimation in case like mine cost should be much lower than I have been told for months. I have decided to move forward with a complaint to the Law Society of British Columbia, Canada.

This law firm gave me a terrible experience. Avoid them at all costs. I've lost tens of thousands…read morein legal fees with nothing to show for it. Hiring Zukerman Law Group was a huge mistake. Their lawyer dropped me just two days before my court appearance, despite me having paid an additional $2,500 retainer just days earlier, following a private disagreement about how my case was being handled. They don't take criticism well and refuse to listen to you during court proceedings. Even the judge was displeased and criticized the firm for not seeking the courts approval after making her final remarks, which resulted in no decision. It was determined that a trial was needed to resolve the custody issue due to the abrupt exit of my lawyer. Reaching the lawyers in person or by phone was extremely difficult, if not impossible. Almost all communication was through email, and they nickel and dime you for every email they receive. After consulting with another firm, I discovered my case should never have gone to court in the first place because the final order from the Supreme Court in the country where the divorce took place was missing, as my ex had refused to provide it since our divorce. I have decided to move forward with a complaint to the Law Society of British Columbia, Canada.
