Only, it became obvious these people had no real interest in working for us. They seemed more curious in what and where the job it. I think a lot of the local 'guy-with-equipment' type of businesses like to size-up the potential work. If it looks like it's too much work, they blow off the prospective client instead of just letting us know they aren't interested. This scenario has played out with us for two years now, with local trades companies large and small. I've decided to share my reviews and information in dealing with them in hopes it might help others to avoid the bad eggs, the people you may not want to trust. In this case, the man refused to call me, I couldn't call him, he wanted to send messages back and forth very sporadically, finally saying he would call me with a time he would be coming to the property. No surprise, he never showed up, I never heard from him again. Even after all that effort, all the time spent with him, sending my private address, photos of our property, making mark-ups for him. It was a sketchy, greasy move and I wouldn't trust them again even if they offered to do it for free. Service buyer, beware!

It doesn't seem plausible to me that it would be necessary for them to be there since the fire department would be too busy dealing with a fire to talk to them. I realize that going to a fire is far more exciting than meeting with a prospective client. These last minute cancellations have happened to me twice before with other companies I have made appointments with in the past year. It must be clearly understood by the managers of these companies that people often times have to take time off from work and deal with other inconveniences to meet with workmen and last minute cancellations are unacceptable. You only get one chance with me. Next time I will reschedule and purposely miss the appointment and let them know what it's like to have someone waste your time.
