If you're looking for a cozy corner of the universe where your nervous system instantly exhales,…read moremay I lovingly point you toward the Phoenix Café?
It's basically the living room of the Findhorn Eco Village, except with better lighting, more variety of deserts, and way more accordion sightings.
Step inside and the atmosphere wraps around you like a warm, oat-milk-infused hug from the Findhorn devas themselves.
First, a confession:
I am officially a devotee of their turmeric chai latte. I'm convinced this drink has its own subtle-body aura. It tastes like someone blended sunshine, comfort, & a gentle pep talk from a benevolent forest gnome who believes in your life purpose. I would happily write this latte a love letter. In fact, if there was a loyalty punch card for that drink, I'd bring it with me every time - even if it is just a teabag with steamed non-dairy.
(My only complaint is that their cups are too small. In an ideal world, I'd order 3 of them; one after the other!)
I've tried just a couple other items on the menu & they were all lovely; fresh, nourishing, and exactly what my inner elemental hoped I'd choose, but the the real treasure here isn't what's on the menu... or the consistently excellent service, but the warm, inviting atmosphere, the kindness.., the "Oh look & listen! Someone's singing and playing the accordion again and everyone seems to find that totally normal" vibe.
At any given moment you might find yourself chatting with a long-time resident who knows every ley line by heart (like Roy, the award-winning ranger!), or sharing a table with a traveler who came for three days, & mysteriously stayed for seven years! Or while sipping chai, someone in the corner gently summons Celtic ancestors with a fiddle.
This is the kind of place where people come not just to eat, but to mingle, mogle, converse, contemplate, co-create, and occasionally be serenaded by a wandering delightfully singing accordionist, fiddle or ukulele players, who may or may not have arrived here by a spontaneous gust of Celtic wind.
Every visit feels like a tiny community reunion; a reminder that connection, comfort, and gentle kindness still exist in the world.
I highly recommended for:
warmth,
surprise musical interludes,
being reminded of the magic of Findhorn,
and of course... the precious Findhornians that make their way there.
This café isn't just a café,
it's a community hearth fire disguised as a counter-service eatery, where synchronicities happen, friendships begin, and your to-do list quietly dissolves into oat-milk froth.
If the Phoenix Café ever decides to bottle its atmosphere, I'm convinced it will solve at least 37% of global stress.
In short:
Go for the turmeric chai.
Stay for the magic.
And when it closes, or you finish (whichever comes first) you probably owe yourself a lovely walk along the Findhorn bay.
