This place is truly such a wonderful, fun place to be! Eileen is an amazing server and bartender; she is so kind and thoughtful, and hilarious at that. The food is so good every time I go, and the drinks are really nice and strong - in a completely legal way lol - so I definitely get my fill every time. All the girls there are beautiful and kind. Real women don't tear down other women over something so trivial, so whoever is mad about being cut off is just insecure and a hater. I will return over and over to enjoy the atmosphere!!! read more

They cut me off after 4 Bacardi drinks. They decide on how much alcohol you can have. Our waitress told my husband, I can't serve her anymore. Total BS! I wasn't drunk at all because their drinks are watered down in the first place. They decide when you have had enough, we didn't get to finish our bingo game because they cut me off, with no drinks, I told my husband, let's go because I'm not a child, you can't tell me when I'm done. Ridiculous. The bartender was a fat bitch and totally jealous of any good looking women coming in there because all they bring in is old, fat women. Won't be back. With all the new restaurants that have opened recently in our city, one that definitely should be placed on your "restaurants to visit" list is MacKenzie's Pub located at 229 Dowlen Rd in Beaumont, right next to the Dollar Tree and World Gym. I had the pleasure of having lunch there today. I went alone but I surprisingly met some fun friends and had lunch with them. MacKenzie's Pub's recently included serving lunch from 11-2, M-F. Casey and Chef Traci Gates own the restaurant and when you go I guarantee it won't be your last. The restaurant is in a great location with parking not a problem. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite comfortable, and the lighting is slightly dimmed. The staff was very friendly and Chef Traci took my order personally. For an appetizer, I ordered the fried green tomatoes with chipotle ranch dressing. The crunch level on these tomatoes was high and on point, sliced medium to thick with the inside being soft. It came with nine, yes nine slices of this crunchy goodness. A common dish done uncommonly well. Each bite provided a mouthful of southern comfort and flavor. My main entrée was the Stuffed Avocado Salad and it did not disappoint. As soon as my plate hit the table I was immediately amazed by the presentation. The halved avocado was on the bottom, topped with a large mound of delicious chicken salad. Tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and lettuce surrounded the plate. All of these flavors came together to make a delicious and flavorful meal. I especially liked the use of dried cranberries in the chicken salad. It gave it a level of sweetness that blended well with the savory, chunky-cut chicken. It is fresh, generously plated and prepared to perfection. This is a salad I would definitely recommend. Chef Traci has designed a mouthwatering menu with a comfortable environment where you, your friends, co-workers, and family would definitely enjoy. At MacKenzie's, you'll find friendly service, cold beer, reasonably priced drinks, great food, a dance floor, and Wednesday through Saturday live music, which includes oldies, jazz, blues, country, rock, and southern rock. If you are passing through Beaumont and like live music with a dance floor and reasonable price food and cocktails you should give this place a try on some Friday or Sat night. Their is a cover when a band plays but the food is very good for a bar and the reasonable drink prices some what makes up for the cover. It is an older crowd, mostly 40 yrs + and the bands play oldies but some will include some "up town funk" in there play list of great dance music ( one is the band "Easy "). There are a few ladies always looking for a dance partner, but most are couples. Wed is prime rib night and I hear it's popular and people call ahead so they get on the list and know about how many to cook. Nice, friendly and safe location in Beaumont. read more

We were in Beaumont (we live in Houston and had a hotel room in Beaumont for the night) for a show downtown at the Julie Rodgers Theater (Ron White... funny as heck!) and after the show we were looking for a nice bar to go party in. We tried the 'Crocket Street' bars and they were a joke. Too loud music (you couldn't think let alone talk) and dead action wise. The one venue that we had hoped would have live music was having Tejano Male Strippers that night. Please... So we took out our iphones and started a search. I stumbled on Mackenzie's Pub and said what the heck, let's give it a chance. Gave the address to our limo driver and off we went. We arrived about 10:30. It is in a strip center and looks closed when you pull up in front because the windows are all blacked out. If it were not for a tiny electric 'Open' sign in a corner of a window we would have driven on and looked for somewhere else. When we opened the door we were surprised to find a 'traditional' (or traditional for Texas) rendition of a Pub with dark wood, green trim and all. There is a nice sized dance floor front and center and a band area adjacent to it. We chose to sit on some barstools between the bar itself and the dance floor which were next to a bar height counter. As it happened Britt Goodwin was playing that night (he is quite good). The atmosphere was warm and friendly and you had the feeling that you were in a place that was the local version of Cheers where almost everyone knows everyone and no one is a stranger. We were served quickly and cheerfully by our waitress. The drinks were good and reasonable priced. Britt responded favorably to our request for "You Never Even Called Me by My Name" and soon the whole place was singing along. We got up and danced to a few songs and generally enjoyed the ambiance of the place. During the evening the Owner, Chuck Mackenzie, came over and welcomed us and had a nice chat. We were having such a good time we called our driver and told him we would be another hour or so as we intended to close the place. Earlier that evening we were talking with Ron White backstage after his show and he was talking about how much he had enjoyed Scotland and the Pubs there. He said that in Scotland you could go into a pub, sit at a table by yourself and order a drink and in 15 minutes you would have new friends at the table sharing a drink and their stories, as opposed to New York where you could go into a bar, sit at a table and get a drink and you would sit there alone until you died 35 years later and no one would ever even say hello. Mackenzie's is the Scotland sort of pub. I don't think anyone who walks in would ever be a stranger for long. If you are in the area, go, you will like it. We are only sorry the place isn't closer to us because if it was we would probably become regular patrons. read more

We came for a quick bite and stayed a couple of hours. Bacon cheese burger was great. I'm not a huge fan if crinkle cut fries, but that is my only issue. The atmosphere and drinks and wait staff are amazing. This is a nice bar that you can spend time with friends and actually hear your dinner conversation without music or tv's blaring. The worst imitation of an Irish pub, is in Beaumont, TX. My rating is solely based on St. Patrick's Day and not during their regular, non-holiday hours. Anyone that has ever been to an Irish pub on St. Patrick's Day, is usually drunk by 2:00 pm if not earlier and their ears should be full of traditional Irish pub songs from the time they enter, to the time they leave. The place is packed, shoulder-to-shoulder, the Irish/St. Paddy's decor exudes from every corner, green beer can be had and Irish beer signs are proudly displayed. This place could not even get their opening time correct; the main web page of events says 2:00 pm while another says open at 3:00. The doors were open so I walked in. I was expecting, at minimal, a jukebox blaring Irish pub songs. Not even! Instead I walk in to total silence and empty tables, almost all of which had "reserved" signs on them. What pub has reserved tables on St. Patrick's Day? To anyone just walking in, I guess they expect you to stand up in an empty bar with reserved signs on the tables. Do they turn the tables around when a party gets up and leaves? I don't know, nothing was explained to me and the staff didn't seem to care. Another worst off here was the fact that they did not have drought (draft) beer. A pub not having drought beer? Unheard of up north! At this point I think I was setting myself up for disappointment. I ordered a bottled Guinness and ordered corned beef and cabbage. Kind of hard to screw up corned beef, cabbage, red potatoes and carrots; except in temperature. I ate at the bar and while I ate the bartender started sticking names on post-it notes to the bar, as a means of reserving bar stools. Seriously? Not only were all of the tables reserved but so was the entire bar. Two servers/bartenders asked me about getting a table and at the time I expressed interest. Would I have had to stand up while eating if I didn't reserve a table? Between two bartenders/servers I never got a table or seat reserved. One hand did not know what the other was doing. It was feeling like a first attempt at hosting St. Patrick's Day. It seemed so poorly executed. As I sat and finished my meal, I faintly heard some music playing, it was classic rock for crying out loud. I even said something to the bartender and she told me there would be live music later. Later? "Live music and Irish jokes. " Was that her selling point? She should have at least have known the lineup of musicians. As people started coming in, the age demographic was looking like upwards of 65 and the longer I sat, the more I felt like I was in one of those senior citizen supper clubs. Regardless of what the music was going to be, I could tell it was going to be no win situation. I got the waitress' attention and she asked if I wanted another beer. I told her I wanted to cash out and her response was "I kind of figured you would." I left the bar and googled "oldest bar in Beaumont, TX" in the hopes of finding something better. I'll keep ya posted. I guess when someone has been to a few really good Irish pubs they have certain standards in mind. I guess mine were too high for Beaumont. I'm sure this establishment is fine during regular hours, for non-Irish events and that the regulars are happy. We ate here for lunch today and the food is great. We started with fried green beans, mushrooms, and green tomatoes. They were all perfectly fried. I had the southwestern salad, which was very fresh and my mom had the BLT, which is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had- crispy thick cut bacon, fried green tomato, lettuce, and pimento cheese all on a buttered/toasted bun. The $14.00, per couple, cover charge was expected. The band was good. We went to dance, not drink, we only drank water. The size of the dance floor compared to the amount of seating is tiny. Several times my Partner and I left the floor during a tune because the floor was so crowded that one could hardly walk much less dance. Each of us order a meal and it was marginally acceptable. When we received our check we were disappointed to find an additional $13.50 charge for "minimum drink charge". We will not be going back there. However many people must disagree with us, since the place was packed. That will not change our decision not to go back. read more

I attended a wine dinner there . We were seated alone not at tables in large groups as with other such dinners I have attended around the world. Felt very isolated when we asked about this we were told all seated with people they called in as groups Then the wait staff added extra people not even having wine dinner to tables which made us feel even more outcast. Very rude you could tell we were not "favored" guests. We were told if we did not like seats we were free to leave. Food was okay. shrimp so-so .Salad great Tuna over cooked Vegetables seasoned well but mushy. Chocolate dessert very tasty. The 2 white wines were fine ( and I usually don't like whites) Not impressed by the reds. read more

Great bar food, exceptionally friendly waitstaff, dancing, but mostly, better than average musical entertainment. Dance floor is not so much smaller as there are a lot of regulars who dance; try and keep up with the pace. They may look old but they will dance your socks off. Music ranges from 50's rock and country to contemporary songs. Sorry, no rap (which doesn't break my heart) but the musicians' talent is awesome and they play almost anything with strings from fiddle to mandolin, guitars, bass and drums. Nashville Grammy winners to local talent, of which the Triangle has many, never fails to entertain above expectation.
