With all the new restaurants that have opened recently in our city, one that definitely should be placed on your "restaurants to visit" list is MacKenzie's Pub located at 229 Dowlen Rd in Beaumont, right next to the Dollar Tree and World Gym. I had the pleasure of having lunch there today. I went alone but I surprisingly met some fun friends and had lunch with them. MacKenzie's Pub's recently included serving lunch from 11-2, M-F. Casey and Chef Traci Gates own the restaurant and when you go I guarantee it won't be your last. The restaurant is in a great location with parking not a problem. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite comfortable, and the lighting is slightly dimmed. The staff was very friendly and Chef Traci took my order personally. For an appetizer, I ordered the fried green tomatoes with chipotle ranch dressing. The crunch level on these tomatoes was high and on point, sliced medium to thick with the inside being soft. It came with nine, yes nine slices of this crunchy goodness. A common dish done uncommonly well. Each bite provided a mouthful of southern comfort and flavor. My main entrée was the Stuffed Avocado Salad and it did not disappoint. As soon as my plate hit the table I was immediately amazed by the presentation. The halved avocado was on the bottom, topped with a large mound of delicious chicken salad. Tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and lettuce surrounded the plate. All of these flavors came together to make a delicious and flavorful meal. I especially liked the use of dried cranberries in the chicken salad. It gave it a level of sweetness that blended well with the savory, chunky-cut chicken. It is fresh, generously plated and prepared to perfection. This is a salad I would definitely recommend. Chef Traci has designed a mouthwatering menu with a comfortable environment where you, your friends, co-workers, and family would definitely enjoy. At MacKenzie's, you'll find friendly service, cold beer, reasonably priced drinks, great food, a dance floor, and Wednesday through Saturday live music, which includes oldies, jazz, blues, country, rock, and southern rock. All of this information is shared online. I will be back for that salad again and maybe have a cup of her hot seafood gumbo. Check out their FB page. I have pics of my lunch and my friends. Let's support this local restaurant. You won't go home hungry or disappointed. This restaurant is definitely #BestBites approved.#eatbmt Traci Henry Gates Lacy Bailleaux Emily Everett Allen -- eating lunch at Mackenzie's Pub.

Our waitress was nice and attentive. There weren't many food options but what I ordered was really good.

You just don't see that often and I wanted to try it. The stars aligned and my family and I met up here for a weeknight dinner. Alvin is the true definition of a small town. It is just south of Pearland and life moves a little slower out here. Atleast for time being as it is becoming more developed now. The building itself is old and full of character. Everyone seemed to know each other. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but service was a tad bit slow at times. My family isn't a big drinking family so we stuck with water and sodas, but they have quite a nice bar program here. They have a really impressive beer selection, a long list of specialty cocktails and lots of wine to choose from. I'm definitely coming back to check that out without the fam. For appetizers, we got an order of the scotch eggs and the Bavarian pretzel sticks. This was my first introduction to scotch eggs and a wonderful one at that. You really can't go wrong with anything wrapped in sausage and deep friend. It was a nice treat and something I will not be sharing next time. The pretzels were also very good. Our waitress suggested some cheese sauce to accompany those. These sticks of goodness were excellent. For my entree, I was stuck on a few items as their menu is pretty extensive. Our waitress said my option for the Pork Milanesa was the way to go, so I did. I've had milanesa at Mexican restaurants, but never in a tavern nor prepared this way. This was hand battered in panko and then topped with a mushroom gravy. It comes with broccoli and mashed potatoes but I substituted the veggie for mac and cheese. This dish was very good and the portions were very generous. Enough for me to have a full second meal minus the sides. The pork was thinly pounded and kept it's crunch even doused in gravy. The gravy was rich and very delicious. My family got a mix of items like the philly cheese steak, flat iron steak salad, tavern salad, and chicken fried steak. For research purposes and for my loyal readers, I tried everything. There wasn't anything that was bad to me. We were full so desserts didn't happen on this trip. Overall, Gordon Street Tavern is a solid spot that I would happily return to if in the area.

My experience at Locals Pub was so horrific I'm debating on whether or not to press charges…read more I understand the establishment closes at 2 & I arrived at 1:15, 45 minutes before closing. They were probably ready to go home & had a long night. I don't negate that at all. But if the door says they close at 2, I would never in a million years expect to be quite literally THROWN out of the door. Miss Jennifer, larger, older, slightly boyish lady in charge of security I assume (also have seen her in charge of the karaoke list as well), was VERY rude & quite frankly, disgusting, at the door. She informed me they were closed, even though it was 45 minutes before the posted closing time on the door. I asked to use the bathroom, at which point she put her hand on my shoulder & quite literally PUSHED me out the door. I was completely thrown off by the disgusting & abusive unprofessionalism. So, very annoyingly, I admit, I knocked on the door (calmly & collected). She opened the door & I tried expressing my discomfort of how she handled me, at which point she put BOTH of her hands on me & that is something I CANNOT understand nor feel like should be allowed. Miss Jennifer has been absolutely unprofessional & dangerous & I quite honestly hope something is done about her behavior. The establishment as a whole has been so accommodating & comforting. My experiences there have always been pleasant. Miss Jennifer is a danger to the brand.
