The Rangers are amazing also... This last time we were there which was really recent three different fires broke out... We were able to witness all the different air relief for the fires...As we swam in the lake, we had full hook up and we were in the old Derrys area... I loved it because they could walk straight across to the water... And right now they're redoing everything and it will be just so gorgeous when it's done!! So many hiking trails... It was amazing! I also enjoyed the town of Winthrop which is a old western themed town... And Sherri's has the best ice cream around!... Just a little tip if you pay cash it tends to be a little cheaper! Putt putt golf is down below now with the new deck for up above there is more shade down below while your little ones try to sink a hole in one!! Winthrop also has a lot of hiking trails and I enjoyed it very much our kids favorite is going to the fish hatchery and taking a tour and feeding all the little fish in a pond... They also love the hike that is next to the fish hatchery... You get to go through field and there are horses... It was awesome! I would have to say kid friendly slowly becoming animal friendly... And many amazing places to go out to eat!

Highly recommended as the views on the way in were worth lingering over, including mullein so huge it looked like a saguaro cactus! We took an SUV, but saw some sedans make it past enormous potholes, so it is possible to get there in your Corolla with care, defensive driving and a bit of risk. There were some drop off's and it was hairy encountering other vehicles heading the opposite direction on the single track road, but we managed, and people were polite. The hike was gorgeous and I don't know if this is considered the end of the season or not, but it was cool and cloudy and we did encounter a rattlesnake on the trail just at the edge of the woods where it opens into the valley. It rattled and coiled at us but did not strike. Moving through the clumps of tall grass was a bit nerve wracking after that, but we swished the bushes with a stick and encountered nothing but wasps nesting in an old combine toward the edge of the valley. It was beautiful and we didn't die and we will go back and not die again.

Great local park. Only problem is parking in the summer. There is a relatively small parking area…read morethat is great most of the year. But once the summer visitors roll in, it fills quickly and people park along the highway, and up into the neighborhoods. Locals are okay with that for the most part, but cut them a break and don't block driveways, block off the road, etc. You know what I mean! Nice access to the lake and a nice area for swimming. Lots of trees, so lots of places to picnic. Restrooms are available. And there's a sand-court volleyball setup. Refreshments are just a block away, so no concerns about not having enough water. Operated and maintained by Chelan County PUD, which does an excellent job keeping the park looking good.

One of the most beautiful and undiscovered locations in all of Washington. The forest roads are…read morenot paved but still fine to drive on. Plenty of places to take in the vistas and escape the bustle of city life. In the two days I was birding the forest trails in this forest I never ran into two people, on a popular hiking trail. Check the weather reports as freeze-out ridge gets very cold in fall, go figure, you could easily get stranded by a snow storm, and no one would find you. This is one of the only areas where the boreal forest extends down into WA from Canada so the wildlife, trees and feel of the place is very different then you might be used to. It is a great spot to tick off the Boreal birds in Washington state. There was a huge fire around here in the summer of 2006 and I haven't been back since so I don't know how bad the damage was.

Falls Creek Falls is a trail north of Winthrop that takes you by falls (naturally). There's street…read moreparking at the beginning with a clearly marked trail to the base of the first waterfall. There are rocks to sit on watching the water fall and the water may spray you a little bit. Keep hiking to go higher and higher uncovering more parts of the waterfall. There are several smaller trails that lead you to pools of water by the falls for wading. The water is cold, but worth it for a refreshing dip.

We were all taking the boat to Stehekin the next day and Donna made sure we had coffee and pastries before we left for the day and also picnic lunches to take on the boat. The rooms were clean and in excellent condition - we even had a couple of outdoor areas where our group could gathered in the evening and socialize. We all had an excellent time while in Chelan and the Riverwalk Park Inn was a big part of it.

Of all the public lakefront recreational areas around Chelan, Don Morse Memorial Park is always our…read morego-to place whenever we're in town. Parking will run you $10 (2 hours) or $15 (6 hours). There is also a 24-hr rate, but I can't recall what it is. For the best parking access, utilize the lot adjacent to the Lakeshore RV Park (TIP: If there's a line at the parking lot pay station, or it's out-of-order, you can pay for parking at the Lakeshore RV Park Front Gate). The parking lot can easily fill up by 11 AM or noon on weekends and spring/summer holidays, so keep this in mind when considering the day of the week you'll be visiting and when you plan to arrive. The park's grounds include a skate park, sand volleyball pits, basketball courts, playground, concession stand, grassy areas, restrooms, some tree-shaded spots, picnic tables, good-sized beach and roped-off swimming area. There's also a boat launch and marina (where it's possible to fish). A go-kart track and miniature golf course are situated in-between the marina (south) parking lot and the RV (north) parking lot, but these are privately run businesses. The only negative of Don Morse Memorial Park is the hourly rate (and maybe the capacity) of the parking lot. Despite this, I still think this park deserves a 5-star review--it's just too good in terms of the layout and amenities it offers.

Kid toys, tennis courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, swing set, beach area, Shoreline Watercraft And Boat Rentals, CLean new Bathrooms, and a Small food place that has snacks and shave ice in the summer. Great vibe . Large grass area where we put up a shade tent and set up yard game to have a picnic in the park. There are even covered areas. Not sure but maybe you rent those. Large beach area and lots of parking. Plus sand volleyball courts. Super fun day with our friends and family. We enjoy it here and can walk to town. Or if staying at Campbell's or camping at park it's walking distance too.
