Since we've retired and want to stay in our home, we decided to convert to a walk-in shower. The design process was wonderful--both owners are architects-and they took our list of requirements and implemented them beautifully. We took out a doorway to another bedroom-never used, took out a radiator and put in a heated floor, replace a pedestal sink with a vanity with LOTS of storage and so much more. We are very happy with the results. We added another medicine cabinet and heated towel rack where the extra door was, put a bench with drawers where the radiator was and put in both a handheld and overhead shower heads. A bench in the shower area is a bonus. It is everything we wanted!

When Jim came over to first take a look at our space, he told us not to shove things in drawers or closets. He wanted us to let him see how we honestly used our unrenovated kitchen every day. At the time, I was thoroughly embarrassed by all of our clutter, but it immediately went away when Jim showed us the drawings for our new space at the second design meeting. He took the struggles we told him we were having (plus the ones he saw we were having) and gave us drawings that reflected kitchen dreams that we didn't even know we had. A built-in pantry, additional under-island storage, an extra large sink so dishes aren't piled up - Jim completely knocked the design out of the park, and then coordinated with his team to bring his drawings to life. I work with construction clients as part of my legal practice and am no stranger to home renovations. Despite the extensive nature of the renovations needed (including removal of a concrete subfloor!), it was the most seamless project I have ever experienced. Jim and his team were consummate professionals throughout the process, promptly answered questions, and provided us with frequent updates. They even delivered ahead of schedule! We will definitely be using Jim and his team for all of our future renovations - I couldn't recommend anyone more highly.

North Shore Kitchen & Bath completed my kitchen project recently. It was not a complete kitchen…read moreremodel - I had my walls/cabinets painted, replaced the countertop/sink, and added a backsplash. I am mostly happy with the overall result of the project, and the cost was more affordable than other businesses with whom I discussed the project. However, I will say the process to get to the final result could have been much smoother. NSKB's communication was lacking. From the beginning of the process when I was working with the designer to pick out finishes, I would have to reach out myself whenever I wanted an update because I would go weeks (sometimes over a month) without getting any information. When I did reach out, I usually had to follow up multiple times before I finally got an email back. I was told a start date for my project, and then when I reached out with a question later the designer mentioned a different date. The change had not been run by me or communicated to me. Had I not reached out myself, I wouldn't have known until they showed up that morning to start. The painters had to come back multiple times for touch ups after finishing the initial job. They got paint on my under-cabinet lighting and hardware because they didn't tape around or remove them; they just painted around things. Paint was spilled on my floors and the NSKB team was able to clean it up a majority of the way, but there is a permanent spot that is darker than the rest of my floor. The team also lost two pieces from hinges and were not able to hang the last cabinet door. It took NSKB almost 2 months to come back and find a solution after I followed up with them multiple times. Overall, the project that was supposed to be completed in early December ended up taking until the end of January.

She redesigned the entire bathroom and it actually works out better for us. We needed a handicapped accessible bathroom and she was very conscious of making sure we were comfortable with every decision and action from beginning to end. Then we met with Eric, Brittany and Staci to go over everything from beginning to end. They all walked us through everything and how we could track daily updates. Through the process, they communicated constantly to make sure things were going good. Martin was also incredible every time he was here. He was also very conscious to make sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. We couldn't have asked for 4 better people to work with. If we ever decide to update our Kitchen, I hope we get the same 4 people. I would highly recommend Kowalske and their team.
