She makes you feel very important, comfortable, and at ease. She is very personable and always asks about your life. She also explains any procedures she needs to do very thoroughly so you feel like you're on the same page throughout your care. This new building is fantastic. They just moved in a few months ago so not everything is 100% finished, but already it is very modern, clean, and inviting. The staff are super friendly, and along with free coffee and snacks while you wait, they do a fantastic job making you feel very welcomed.

I saw Dr Samuel on Tuesday due to having severe tooth pain. She referred me to an endodontist in Rockford. The endodontist she referred me to was great and I booked an appointment for Tuesday for a root canal. Unfortunately, I just found out on Friday after hours that they are not covered under my Medicare plan. If you have ever had severe tooth pain, you know how miserable it is! Don't expect the dentists at Machesney Park Family Dental to be sympathetic about your pain. She refused to call me in anything for pain. I've been in so much pain since last Monday and now I have to wait until this Monday to start all over again, trying to find an endodontist and somebody to help me out of this miserable pain.

This was surprising, as I have always communicated with the office when rescheduling. In September, I proactively rescheduled my Motto aligner checkup because I was traveling to California for my father's 70th birthday celebration. That call was handled without issue. Unexpectedly, my trip resulted in my family and me contracting COVID-19. We were quarantined for over a week and unable to attend the scheduled celebration. Upon returning home, I notified the office that I was still ill and could not attend the appointment. Again, I was told there was no problem and that I could call later to reschedule. However, when I contacted the office in late November, I encountered extremely rude service, was informed that I had been added to a "do not schedule" list, and was accused of missing multiple appointments, including alleged "no call/no shows." This was incorrect, and despite my attempts to clarify the situation and explain that I rescheduled responsibly, I was dismissed and told I could only request same-day appointments. Today, January 13th, I called to confirm a 7:00 AM appointment, as I never received a reminder. I was informed that it had once again been canceled for the same inaccurate reason. When I asked what missed appointments were being counted against me, the responses were inconsistent and unprofessional. I was told first that I had missed five appointments, then "several," and then six -- in a condescending tone. When I pressed for clarification, the branch manager hung up on me. I want to be clear: * I have never missed or rescheduled any of my gum-treatment appointments, all of which were scheduled at 7:00 AM. * The only appointments ever rescheduled were Motto aligner checkups -- and I always called in advance. * It is impossible to have six no-call/no-show events when I have not even had six total Motto appointments at this location. * The office has canceled my appointments without notifying me and has now blocked me from continuing care due to inaccurate records. I am currently dealing with gum issues that require ongoing treatment, and I have completed my Motto aligners. I now need follow-up care and information regarding next steps, including retainers. It is unacceptable that my dental health has been jeopardized due to inaccurate scheduling records, improper documentation, and disrespectful treatment by office staff and management.

I recently went with my terrified sister, and they kept her talking and distracted the entire time. It may just be me, but sometimes Dr. McNitt seems a little condescending about how I act (so what if I get a little chatty when I get nervous?), but that could also be because I'm gassed up. Regardless, of all the dentists I've been to, this is my favorite and I will return for my check-ups. They're also good at helping you utilize your insurance and working with your budget.

Then I called a week later to cancel my upcoming cleaning, and she didn't recall talking to my wife on the phone or getting an email!(the email was received and didn't bounce). So they never canceled it. I found this out when I got an email from the patient connect of a reminder of the appt.. So my wife called and tried to cancel it with one of the other people in the office, with the appt still 2 weeks in the future. I then got a$50 dollar charge through patientconnect for a missed appt.
