Years after needing Mace Garage Door's to replace my snapped garage door springs and experiencing his QUALITY of workmanship and character, and suggesting him to my wheelchair bound friend (is opener installation ensured she could exit her house through the garage on her own), I got him to replace my ancient garage door opener. I was pleasantly surprised to find that time had made him even more Professional, Honorable and Knowledgeable. Out of 5 stars he is 6!!!!! Hire this man! read more

Another fantastic experience by Mace Garage Doors. Mace has been the only company that has touched anything to do with my garage doors in over a decade. They are dependable and affordable will provide no obligation quotes. This service was for a key pad replacement. The old one wore out. However, he was willing to address a few other items such as a Home Link garage door connection only car and a WiFi issue on the opener, Before departing he did an overall safety check and lubrication to ensure the door operated smoothly. What he found shucked him. A vital screw on the main spring had worked itself loose over the years. He fixed this and was glad he found the problem. Mace install new doors, fixes existing doors, replaces openers, key pads and troubleshoots anything to do with garage doors and equipment. A highly recommend and I promise you will not be disappointed. read more

Michael came out on the same day I called. He communicated clearly about the time frame he could come to check out my garage door. He was thorough in assessing what the issue was and was able to fix it quickly. He pointed out things to monitor and consider when it's time to replace the door, but this was done in a considerate and informative manner - not at all an attempt to have me do things unnecessarily. His fee was very reasonable. I will definitely contact him for any future repair needs! read more

After a less than positive experience with the company that has handled our garage door and opener for many years we called Mike to look at our non functioning opener. He diagnosed the issue immediately, and installed a new opener the same day--helped program our cars, and walked us through the entire setup. Anyone that needs a knowledgeable, honest and fair company to fix or install their garage door or opener should make Mace their first choice--I'll never go back. In this day it is hard to find workmen like Mike--a real gem. read more

What a fantastic experience all around! I called Mace Garage Doors and Michael promptly answered, was super helpful, honest and made himself available quickly to fix a broken spring. He arrived exactly on time, could not have been more friendly or knowledgeable. The broken spring on the door was undersized, he explained everything, including the technical details, placed a special order for the correct size spring, went and picked it up from the distributor, came back, installed it so that the door is so balanced, you can open it with one finger. He recommended I change out the rubber gasket on the bottom of the door that keeps bugs out and showed me why. He basically charged me his cost on that, which was incredibly reasonable. He adjusted and lubed the garage door for no additional cost just because it was the right thing to do. Michael has an incredible sense of "just do the right thing" and is a small business owner who genuinely cares. His price was extremely reasonable, his service was quick, he was honest, friendly and beyond knowledgeable. I genuinely could not have asked for more. I'll call him first every time. I highly recommend Michael and Mace Garage Doors. read more

Same day service. Quick, efficient quality upgrade/repair. Reasonable price. Went above and beyond, I would highly recommend.

I discovered Mace Garage Doors through the Yelp app. I called three businesses two were unable to see me right away. Mike was able to see me almost immediately. The spring on the door required replacement so literally the garage door was not usable. From the time I placed my call to his business, to completion, was four hours. Very professional, courteous and conscientious. I would recommend Mike to anyone in the Hampton Roads area. He was a godsend! read more

Michael Mace of Mace Garage Doors is the absolute best at what he does. Without hesitation, he is our first and only call when we need help with our garage doors - he's quick to respond and always has our garage doors operating and looking like they are brand new! We thought that we would need new garage doors on both projects that we asked Michael for help on, and not only was his quote reasonable, but he fixed all the squeaks, broken seals, and clunky mechanics. We asked Michael to install new electric garage door openers on a very old door/property, and it works beautifully. Thanks so much again, Mace Garage Doors - we couldn't recommend Michael and his business enough. read more

Very meticulous and knows his trade. Mace not only recommended the right opener after the first one I chose didn't fit, he also did the extra labor without charge. This is the wind time he's worked on my garage, and each time I was impressed with the knowledge and workmanship. read more

Mr. Mace is incredible! Not only did he answer the phone at 7 am (because my garage door was stuck open), but he proceeded to fix the problem that same day and for a very reasonable price. Whenever I am financially able to purchase new garage doors, I will be contacting Mr. Mace! read more

Mike was very professional and friendly. He was upfront about everything, including having to reschedule our initial quote consultation due to an issue with his truck that he was in the process of repairing. I appreciated the honesty of him letting us know ahead of time so he did not have to cancel on us. That was already a good sign in my book. He was very accommodating with our availability and worked around our schedule. He kept in constant contact and was always on time (early even!) and communicated well. He completed the work as promised (on Labor Day weekend, no less!) and went the extra mile explaining the ins and outs of how to operate our new garage door opener. His price could not be beat and his workmanship is fantastic. We have already referred him to a friend looking to replace their current garage door and will send everyone else Mike's way as well! Very happy with the work Mike did and will be using him again if the need ever arises. Cannot recommend him enough! read more

Mace Garage Doors was one of three companies we called for a quote to replace our garage door. One company wanted $1500 (actually it may have been more) to replace our one car garage door (only- no opener)! We upgraded a little bit and got a beautiful insulated door with windows for $900 total! Mr Mace delivered the door as promised and there were no surprises. We really liked that he works on his own. His low overhead allowed us to get what we wanted, when we needed it at a reasonable price! Also, since this is the only thing he does and he does it well, he'll be around if we ever need a tune-up. He also told us what preventable maintenance we can do on our own to preserve the life of our new door. read more

This is our second time using Mace. First time was to replace the garage door on our old house about seven years ago. His quotes beat all the others, he showed up on time, he did a great job, and we haven't had a lick of trouble on that door. We have since moved, and my door broke today, on a Sunday afternoon. He returned my call promptly, came right over on a Sunday, exactly when he said he would, fixed the door cables, fabricated a bracket to replace the bracket that the door opener destroyed while ripping it off the jammed door. He is a sole proprietor who does quality work, not a big company. He did not try to put a hard sell on me to buy a new door either. Totally reasonable service fee and $10.00 in parts. When I do need a new door, I know who I'm going to call. Mike Mace Mace Garage Doors. https://www.garagedoorservicenorfolk.com/ 757-335-2565 read more

Super impressed with the quality and professionalism of the service I received. Our garage door was not opening more than feet. We called Mace Garage Doors and I set up an appointment for the following day. Michael came by in the morning and was able to get the parts and finish the repair by 3:00 the same day. The price was very reasonable, especially for the quickness that the job was done in. Definitely recommend. read more

Mr. Mace was FANTASTIC! My garage door hardware and door were both built back in the late 90's. Michael provided a quote for three different door types (based on insulation value). After I selected what I wanted, he told me he would be back in a couple weeks once the parts came in. True to his word, he showed up about noon on the day we arranged and had the entire installation completed soup to nuts in under 6 hours. I appreciated the care and attention to detail with the parts (mine was a complete install, new rails, motor, door, sensors etc.) and the way he took the time to explain to me the operation and functions of the Liftmaster unit I recieved. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Michael Mace for anyone looking for garage door repairs or replacement!!! GREAT JOB MICHAEL!!! THANK YOU so VERY MUCH For the FANTASTIC install! read more

Price is not the only consideration when I select a contractor. When I needed to replace 2 garage doors I interviewed 3 contractors and mace was by far the most knowledgeable and flexible. As it turned out, they were also the most cost effective. Installation took one day. There were several existing issues to address with the new doors and they all were handled easily. I appreciated the attention to detail and Mike came back to replace a couple of pieces of trim that he didn't think were sitting properly. Give mace a call and support small businesses! read more

Mike showed up on time and gave me a very reasonable quote for fixing a broken tension spring. It turns out that he also had to fix the tracks that hadn't been installed properly when I first got the garage door which caused more work for him. Even so he charged $20 less than quoted because a part ended up costing less than he originally thought. I highly recommend, Mike was very honest and did great work. read more

Our double bay garage door quit working after fifteen years. Mike came over one afternoon to assess the problem, give us a quote, and schedule a time for the following afternoon at 4:00.
