This is the first negative review that I have EVER written. I am still in shock from the interaction that I just had with Dr. MacDowell's receptionist (middle aged woman with shortish brown hair, in case there are multiple). I was to be a new patient of the doctors with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I called prior to my appointment to confirm with both the doctor's office and BCBS that Dr. MacDowell is in network and he is. When I arrived the receptionist told me that the appointment was going to be $180. I gave her my insurance card and she told me that I still had to pay $180 and after they file the claim if BCBS reimburses them, they would refund me but sometimes that takes several months. I asked if she could call BCBS to see that I have insurance and that annual physicals are covered at 100%. She "no, that would take 30 minutes of my time". I went outside to call BCBS myself to see if this all sounded correct and they told me no that this does not sound correct and offered to speak to the receptionist. When I went back in and asked her if she would speak to BCBS she told me to find another office. I said "what?! You want me to leave?". She said yes. I said ok and tapped my hand twice on the counter and began to walk out. Then mocking me she tapped her hand twice on the counter and said "ok". I am stunned. I don't know if this woman has anger issues but she certainly is not representing this office well with this poor customer relations and communication style. I would very much like an apology from this woman but I don't know if I will receive it. read more
