We didn't know anything about St. Petersburg, but figured the Visitors Center was the best place to begin. We were not disappointed! The staff was very welcoming, even offering to place our luggage in a secure spot. We were advised to take the tour bus around the city to get oriented. We did take the bus, but also did quite a bit of walking as the weather was beautiful. We took in the sights at The St. Pete Pier, and had a wonderful meal at Fresco's Waterfront Bistro. Many thanks to Shelli, Visitors Center manager, for helping us make the most of our brief time in St. Petersburg. So many things to see and do there. We wish we could've stayed longer!

During our visit, we were lucky enough to meet Carol, a volunteer at the visitor center. Carol took the time to decipher the area map and lead us in the right direction for lunch (Thank you, Carol!). If you happen to be in the area, stop into the visitor center to take a break from the crowd. We visited the park recently and were on the hunt for as many bird species we could identify. Found some birds we had never seen before and it was so much fun trying to hunt them down by their calls. I've never not seen a gator when visiting but you had to take your time and look closely. I can't say enough about this park. Just $2 to enter the park. There are picnic areas you can reserve, volleyball courts, playgrounds, trails, restrooms and an onsite nature center. You really cannot ask for much more. Definitely worth the visit!

It's just lovely here, chill and shady, plenty of spots to rest and view wildlife. Lots of birds and baby gators. The boardwalk is amazing. They were all the best days but if I had to choose 3 of the of the best days: one had to be our hike through the towns of Cinque Terre (I spelled that wrong) where we found this amazing mom and pop restaurant literally on the cliffs of the trail, two was the boat day from Capri (life changing), three is actually the last day in Sorrento where we had free time so I found this magical little jeweler who gave me an Italian horn.. who then sent me to the sandwich shop I had been searching for... and then to a hidden lagoon that will forever be the most enchanting place. Time is of the essence. Take this trip. I had a moment where I just pressed "go." And I'm so happy I did because I've made the best memories and lasting friends.
