Ahhh yes, the most highly rated physical therapy place in the Capital Region. I wasn't sure if I should trust the reviews because they had perfect 5 stars on every website, but I figured, why not?
Of course, that means I wasn't surprised when I wanted to write a 5 star review, too.
This was my first experience with physical therapy. After a very disheartening, rude interaction with an orthopedic doctor who dismissed my 3-month-long knee pain (as bowleggedness? Which I don't have?) and background with tendon damage, I decided to try physical therapy, hoping it would help.
On my very first visit, Joe Jr. came in with his two comrades, PhD candidates Dominic and I am so sorry I forgot the other one's name, but all three of them were so lovely and brought something different to the table in how they interacted with patients. Joe sat me down and asked me what the doctor had said, since I came in on a referral, and immediately started laughing. He assured me that they would take care of me after listening intently to my concerns, and I felt very respected/safe there.
Immediately, he suggested that the pain might not be from my knees, but actually pain coming from my spine.
We tried different exercises, which all resembled some form of yoga and slowly, but surely, my pain went away completely in a matter of weeks. Since I was mostly immobile from the knee pain for months, it felt strange to be able to run and hike again, so I went roller skating. I also started practicing yoga. My boyfriend and I tackled some of the Berkshire mountains together and I was so happy. I finally started working out again and I am so grateful for the team at Maccio Physical Therapy for getting me to where I am now.
I would 100% recommend them. Every member of the staff I interacted with was so kind and helpful. Oh, and the moral of the story is... if you have knee pain, it could actually be spine pain? Weird. Thank you so much! read more
