My mom and I had an amazing experience shopping at the store. We had purchased some Mac products in the past, but it was a really long time ago. There were so many new products and we had so many questions and we're really lucky to get a wonderful associate to help us. I wish I got her name, she said that she was new to that store, but had worked for Mac for a long time. She was definitely very knowledgeable and really knew how to listen and suggest the shades that were most complementary to us. My mom and I bought a lot lol and we loved every minute of it. Yesterday, I visited the M.A.C. store for an advertised complimentary 15-minute service. The manager told me to schedule an appointment but did not disclose that it would incur a charge, leading me to believe it was part of the complimentary consultation. Had I known there was a fee, I would not have proceeded. When I later tried to return the products, I was told only store credit could be issued because the charge was tied to an appointment. I explained that I would not have made the purchase if the fee had been disclosed, but was again offered only a gift card. I am disappointed by this experience. I paid $73 for products I did not want and believe the purchase resulted from inadequate disclosure of the appointment fee. read more

I am a 60+ lady who has been in a this Mac store about half a dozen times. I went in about 3 weeks ago and was helped by Evie. Evie was fabulous! I mentioned my problems with lipstick not lasting. Evie showed me how to use the primer properly. Evie also showed me how to apply the liner. And my biggest issue with eyeliner liquidating immediately and what color I should use. Evie helped with everything in 30 minutes and I will only look for Evie from now one. So ladies like me just ask for Evie! read more

Came in on a whim because we were already at the mall to hit Ray-Ban for some sunnies. I saw the MAC sign and got excited. We walked over and were greeted right away. I love the new kissable liquid lipsticks that MAC recently came out with. They actually stay SUPER good! I have tested it out with all the foods and kisses (you can confirm this with my partner lol). Anyway, they had a couple of the colors that I wanted. I grabbed Ruby True and a mauve color. They didn't have the purple color I wanted. Sadness. But that's okay, I can wait until it is in stock again. They checked online for me too, and it was sold out online. I guess dark purple is a popular color lol Got my two lippy colors and left. I didn't have time to actually shop and look around. If you are a guy who has never used make up go as for Gabby. I got into a very nasty Accident and the Medication I'm taking causes me to get Red Spots on my Face, I Showed up to the mall and I felt like shit. I casually went inside not knowing how to ask "Gabby" if there is anything that could bring my confidence back. And she did! Such a beautiful mall. Now with the endless construction finally complete, it's a great option for dining and shopping. All the high end labels are here. The mall is clean and well maintained. Also, it's a great option to park and ride if you want to venture into Old Town or Downtown as the trolley station is only a few steps away. Having visited this place and hundreds of times of dining and shopping here, I've come to appreciate its beauty and architecture. I'll be back for sure. They are a lot of great other brands out there but I rarely go wrong when I go to MAC. This particular location is nice because you can hit other spots like Victoria's Secret and Sephora (basic b&$ch stuff) in outing. For the most part, I always get good service there. When I came in there was only one girl working and the other staff was on break so I waited a bit for someone but it was worth it. Horrible customer service. Booked an appt weeks in advance for makeup. Arrived five min early. Woman was rude and acted busy wiping brushes. I went into the MAC store at fashion valley & Myra was friendly & clearly loves her work. I'm a tomboy & do my best with makeup but I keep it pretty simple. Myra showed me a simple (thank god) way to even out my skin tone with a bronzer to better match the skin of my neck/chest. (I forget the cool French word for that neck&chest lol) I appreciated she didn't try to up sell me on makeup I would never use. She discerns her clients' personalities well, I think. I am a big fan of MAC Cosmetics even though I don't wear much makeup. Their cosmetics have such rich pigment that any skin tone can wear them which is fantastic. I love their eyeliners, lip liners, lipsticks, and lip gloss. Their cosmetics say hypoallergenic and truly are. They do not use soy or lead either. In San Diego the Fashion Valley store is my fave. It can get quite crowded on the weekends so be prepared to wait but can use that time to walk around and try on all of the new products. The makeup artists are so fun to watch and helpful to pick for good colour options or product types. They alway have the best makeup jobs on their own faces. I love it! I'm dying to take their makeup class and have been wanting to for or years but never get around to it. Last year for a friend's wedding we worked with two artists who were dynamos and helped us with pairing makeup for our day to night looks and suggestions for the outside makeup artist we hired. I wish i could remember their names because I would recommend them to every customer that enters the store. read more

I hate to admit this, but honestly feel discriminated against at MAC everytime I go in. Just because I am not layered in makeup, I have a tough time flagging someone down to help me out. I am technically the ideal customer because I have a blank canvas and they can brainwash me into buying everything! On Friday, I stood at the counter for 10 minutes till someone came and helped me process some online returns. It's too bad, because I only use MAC concealer and I have been meaning to buy more of their makeup. But the way the stores make me feel, I get in, buy my concealer, and get out in 5 minutes. Even if I catch someone to help me, I feel that I get talked to in a condescending way. Sadly, I have the same review for MAC at south Coast Plaza. A bit more warmth will be helpful. :( read more

I was not greeted upon entering the store and not one employee came over to me and asked if I was finding or needed help finding anything after spending about ten minutes in the store. After I had gathered the lipsticks I wanted to get for the Back To MAC program I had to go searching for an employee on my own and as I was standing there waiting an employee casually walked past me until I asked her if she could help me and her reply was "yeah what's up". They honestly don't even deserve 1 star. RAFAEL was one of the cruelest employees I have ever come across in my life. The fact that MAC has employed someone like him is beyond me. I walked in to do a return and I was totally okay with whatever they told me I could do whether it be an exchange/return whatever. He literally was not speaking to me at first and just kept asking me weird questions and then when I would answer he would ask me the same thing again ( that is when I began to believe he was probably intoxicated ) he then said oh this is past 30 days and I had no clue I had just thrown my items in a bag. However I was not arguing a store policy that is in place because for 1. I have worked retail for a long time and 2. It's my fault I didn't see it was past 30 days. However I had gone to a different Mac store and they matched me with the right shade so they had informed me to return this stuff that didn't match. So I was literally just gonna start telling him the story of what happened and what was said at the other max store and he FREAKS out on me I maybe got 3 words out and he's like yelling at me "I'm gonna go get my manager I can't help you anymore idk what you want" I was like wow..... I was so thrown off and confused because I did not even ask for a manager and I was being so kind to him and just my normal bubbly self. Then he leaves the door wide open and I see go to the back to get his manager at this point I'm having a full on anxiety attack because of how he made me feel and I just didn't understand his behavior and demeanor towards me. The manager comes out and I was like I'm so confused by what just happened I didn't even ask for a manager she's like oh he's just following procedure. I was said what procedure I have no issue with whatever it is I'm allowed to do with these products even if I can't return them that's fine that's all he needed to say. I said it is not okay for anyone to speak or treat someone the way he did when I was just standing there being kind. Along with that I told her that I would rather take my products and throw them out or not use them then be treated in such a way. Before leaving I told RAFAEL that if he was having a bad day I sincerely hope it gets better. Rarely get my makeup done but this location was on point with customer service. They never pushed sales, my artist was open to feedback when I wasn't feeling my lewk/the way she did my eyebrows, and my artist was sure to fix my makeup to my liking so that I was satisfied. Will definitely consider coming to get my makeup done again. If you're in need of product, plan it around a makeup appointment (if you're going to buy stuff anyway might as well get dolled up and pampered, right?!). I ended up buying WAY more than the minimum required purchase because I was just happy with the experience overall. Win-win-win. read more

Judge all you want but I love MAC yeah it's definitely a brand for high schoolers but whatever! I used to have MAC loyalty when I was a teen but I've since branched out to many brands especially since getting my makeup artist certification. I agree with Nette B.'s review below, you need to put on your "DIVA" attitude when you come here. Know what you want and the names of things. If you're a makeup newbie it might not be a good idea to come here as you might not get good service. Try watching YouTube reviews or research to see what MAC items you're interested in checking out. I came in here quickly on Saturday to just pick up pigment I needed for a wedding that night. The girl who helped me out seemed like she didn't really want to help at first when I asked her where the pigments were she just pointed from where she was standing instead of walking me over to show me, but once I started talking to show her that I know my MAC $hit she became helpful and cool. I wanted to try on some products at their store. I stood for a while before someone asked if I needed help. Uh yes I need help. She asked if I made an appt, I said no. This is a makeup store, not a beauty salon. She informed me that she can add me to the list but I have to buy $50 worth of products if I wanted someone to test the makeup on me. Well I was planning to buy makeup there, but I wanted to see how it wears first. Sorry she said rules are rules. I can see how they wouldn't want to waste their time on someone who's not going to buy anything but I really wanted to see how their makeup is on me first. I didn't want an eyeliner that smudges or flakes off or buy something only to find that I'm allergic to it. I've been here before and had better service from this one lady but the two I ran into that day weren't very helpful. I left and went to Macy's. Guy "helping" me played really dumb and did not care for my business. I do like MAC but their stores are terrible. Overall, if you NEED to purchase MAC products BUY THEM FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE! Unless you need an item only available at a "MAC Store" I would go to Nordy's any day. This store is waaay too crowded no matter what time of day you arrive. Too many 20-somethings trying to get the newest color to wear to the club. Either that or you've got the momma-bears who are trying to relive their 20's and sucking up all the time of the artists. When I walk in I know what I need. Can I just go to the register and get it? Nope. I've got to wait for the Cougars to get their makeovers and the 20-somethings to get their "On Broadway" gear before I can tell them the color and quantity that I need. Ok. So this place would get 5 stars, if it weren't for the fact that it is just way too busy on the regular. Let's just be honest - no one wants to shop in the middle of a circus. However, the place deserves more than a mediocre rating because of the fantastic customer service (once you have the opportunity to be treated as a customer). I only go to this particular MAC store for one reason, and it's because I want my face to get done up! Call ahead, make an appointment, and remember that the place expects you to make a $50 purchase in order to get your make up done. Side note: if you tell them you want to spend at least $100, they'll book you in the special back room. It's pretty much amazing. Anyway, I've been getting my make-up done there for the past 3 years (usually on my birthday and for my law school ball.. yea pretty much prom all over again every year) and have never had any of the make-up artists treat me poorly or do a bad job. Each one of them knew that I was on a budget (more than $50 on make-up.. come on!) and was still very patient with me and willing to help me find what merchandise would work best for me. And, on top of everything, they made me look gorgeous..absolutely gorgeous!! (I can say that because the make-up job they did on my face basically consisted of them making me a facial mask) If you go to MAC and know that you are going to buy some eye-liner, mascara, and maybe something you don't necessarily need, you might as well call ahead, make an appointment, and look fantastic all day. This review is for the Creative Technique Class that was facilitated by MAC artists Claudine Samson & Ross Lee. This class is great for aspiring makeup artists that want to know how to do theatrical or editorial looks. I've been doing makeup for a while now and have been a MAC Pro card holder for a while, but by all means makes me no expert on MAC products since MAC comes out with so many new products almost each month AND I have a vast collection of makeup from other professional brands. So I got to learn about a few of the MAC products that just came out and a few MAC products that are part of their permanent line that I just haven't gotten around to experiment with. Claudine & Ross were super friendly and their outgoing personalities made their class really fun. They were open to any questions anyone had and both of them had tips & tricks for makeup application that were very informative. The best thing about the class is you get to walk around the store after the class is over and shop freely without bumping elbows with regular customers, you can mingle and talk with other artists or aspiring artists OR talk one-on-one with Ross or Claudine without any interruptions. Oh, and their classes are held after store hours. I most definitely look forward to attending more classes by Ross or Claudine, I'm always open to learning new things in the industry or MAC products in general. Don't forget to walk out the door with a MAC 217 brush, a def MUST HAVE for anyone that loves makeup. I also hope they turn this MAC location into a PRO store, although I shop online to use my discount out of convenience (cause the store is crazy busy during business hours), at least if this location turns into a PRO store I can walk in and play with the pro products before I buy AND i don't have to wait for my stuff to be shipped or pay for shipping. read more

I needed blush and lipstick from my MAC store. Earlier, I had input what I needed from there into my phone. Walked in, and was immediately greeted, "HIIII!" I said hi back. The same girl who said hi was a pretty girl with pretty blue eyeshadow, who asked me if I needed any help. She said "okay", while we exchanged knowing looks, and we both further declared it had been a busy and tiring one for both of us. I find if I really think about my MAC Cosmetics, they make me happy. I look just like every other girl who works here, and I get compliments on my makeup every time. But because of it, i get AMAZING service. Everyone will ask me how I'm doing within the first five minutes of me being in the store, I get pushed to the front of the line when I'm ready to pay, and make all the teeny boppers stop to wonder why and how I was allowed to cut them. The girls give me tons of free samples, and I love it. This store is usually extremely busy during the day, but I make my stops on the off hours, right when they open or right when they are closing, which helps a lot. Ok, Ok Ok, even on the days I'm not made up the girls are still nice. For anyone who's had a bad experience, you just gotta know who to go to for help. read more

MAC products are of great quality and staying power, but I don't understand why the sales ladies there have to wear that MUCH make-up and all look like gothic. Also not all of us makeup lovers also like the heavily tattoes type. I just don't like their all blac, red hair, tattoes and excessive makeup and does not do a great favor to the image of the company, in my opinion. Lived in San Diego for four years, and Gabby was my go to for all things makeup. Started off with Gabby doing my makeup. A handful of times and when she found out I was new to the world of makeup artistry, she gave me opportunities to assist her with client...and let me tell you. This girl can do it all.
