He was very helpful and easy to talk with on the phone. He was able to ask the right questions and determine what was needed even though I was very limited in my ability to articulate technically what was needed to improve my mac. The service appointment I set up with Robin went very well. He was very personable and made me feel welcome in his home office while he took time to see exactly what was going on with my computer. He educated me thoroughly on all my available upgrade options and the costs. He was very up front about his hourly rates and gave me a good ballpark as to how much time it would realistically take to finish his work. Also, Robin was extremely personable, gracious, and very willing to share his expertise in a way that didn't make me feel bad about what I didn't know or understand about computers. Upon reading the glowing reviews of Mac Ace, it seemed like a no-brainer that this IS the spot to go for all mac repair/troubleshooting problems. Verdict holds true. I had such a positive experience here, I was inspired to make a Yelp account and actually champion a small business that I think truly deserves it. Robin was BEYOND helpful during a full-blown Mac book pro meltdown crisis. After a quick yet conclusive assessment of my laptop he determined that yes in fact my GPU had shit the bed and that I needed to replace the logic board if I wanted to resuscitate the computer. He was totally knowledgeable and extremely thorough about every possible option I could explore and what it would run me time-wise and dollar-wise; citing alternative sources and even people he knew near where I live back in Los Angeles that could help sort me out. It was totally clear to me that Robin's main objective is to get you up and running in the most practical and cost-efficient way possible and not sell you on something unnecessary to pocket a couple bucks like a shady car mechanic. Robin is awesome! He is definitely an Ace when it comes down to knowing all about the computer world! He was able to come to my work place and diagnose my 2012 MacBook situation (slowness and apps shutting down on its own) then tell me what was necessary to fix this issue. He told me less than 48hr turn around due to parts being available however he completed it in under 18hrs! Robin was able to return the computer with a new super charged engine (hard drive) and intensely increase my storage space, while also doing a bunch of free cleanup and computer free virus program installs! All I have to say is Don't buy a new computer, have Robin look at your computer because he can definitely make any computer perform better than buying a brand new computer! I know this because I seriously looked into buying a new MacBook! And I am super glad I did not go that direction!! Excellent! I can't recommend Robin highly enough. I rarely write reviews, but am compelled to do so to let people know of the outstanding service that Robin provided to me. I have a 5-year old iMac desktop that had severe issues. Robin explained possible causes that he would troubleshoot and what each potential solution would cost. He asked me during the process whether I wanted to proceed -- keeping in mind the cost to fix vs. what the market value of the machine would be worth at the end of the fix vs. just buying another machine. Great communicator, integrity, personable, knows his stuff, and very fair on prices. He went above and beyond with his efforts to recover my data and to problem solve. I must say I am embarrassed to admit this, but I contacted Robin at Mac Ace for help when I could not get the microphone on my Apple computer to work. Since I was working from home and had a virtual meeting scheduled I needed help asap. Robin was on it immediately, even offering to come to my house to make sure it was in fact broken. He arrived within a half hour. Lucky for me he came because it turns out that one of my kids had placed a piece of tape over the microphone! Great work. My hard drive crashed on me and they told me at the store my macbook pro was dead. Turns out it was just old and Robin managed to make my 2007 Macbook Pro run god as new.
