Ok...well we stayed here as one of our friends on our road trip was on a super budget. I'm giving 1…read morestar because it was cheap as advertised, and one star because it was clean and had hot showers! The room was $800 pesos which is about $40 so it's really cheap. Now the room was clean and the water is hot so that is nice. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable, and there is 1 very thin shear on the beds. There are small blankets on the shelf, but they are extremely thin! No heat or A/C. The window curtains are so thin they block nothing except someone seeing you naked. That's fine except the exterior lights of the property are extremely bright. That's great for security of your vehicle but not good for a restful nights sleep. The water has incredible pressure and was quite hot. The shower does not drain well! The bathroom ran out of toilet paper before the morning and there was just 1 woman and 1 man in our room. So max 2-3 bathroom uses before it ran out. No extra in the room! Luckily we travel a lot on the road so we had some in the truck! The towels were quite stained and discolored despite smelling laundered. This hotel is sandwiched between 2 major highway roads so it's very loud. There are full RV hook-ups so if you come in your own camper you will get power & water. The WiFi is a joke! It doesn't work. Seriously it couldn't even load my kindle book. It was better to use the very slow Mexican cell service. All in all, you get what you pay for, a very sub par place to sleep. Now on to the restaurant... eeek! Avoid at all costs! First all 3 of our margaritas arrived with ants floating in them. Yes I said that 3 people 3 margaritas with ants! The margaritas were very artificial and sweet. Not very good, too much salt! I ordered the loaded nachos... vomit! They arrived not loaded but rather smothered in beans that looked akin to diarrhea, with some cheese, and some over cooked day old meat on top. These were by far and large the worst nachos I have ever eaten! They were putridly salty as well! Awful. The carbs asada tacos were so plain. Just tortillas with meat in them. No sauce, no onion, no cilantro, nada! Again very salty dry meat! The third person ordered the most expensive meal which was the seafood platter. It arrived a solid 20 minutes after the nachos and tacos. He seemed to like it, but did say it was quite salty! Overall I would NOT recommend this place for food or lodging! Keep driving into San Ignacio where there were much nicer places to stay and eat, or go to Santa Rosalía!

We decided to stray from the center of town and ended up at the Rice and Beans restaurant. Good…read morechoice. Friendly staff, good service. Lots of Baja racing memorabilia throughout the bar and seating area. Three drinks,(very good margaritas), two entrees, chips and salsa were reasonably priced. Roomy interior and plenty of parking. San Ignacio is charming. Rice and Beans accented our stay there.

What a wonderful dinner experience we all had, after a spectacular day of nearby whale watching…read more Having a great time with our whale watching driver, Felipe, I asked him to recommend a place in town that dished up some good seafood. He recommended Ballenas (Spanish for Whales). Liking the name and location, but most importantly because a local recommended it, I told the nice gal inside to expect 6 of us for dinner at 8pm for an outside table. I asked if they served Negra Modelo, as I'm not a fan of the watered down alternatives. She said no and I expressed disappointment, but figured that for a night it wouldn't be a big deal. We arrive at 8pm and I sit down with my friends. Next thing I know, the gal from earlier in the day, walks over and hands me a nice cold Negra Modelo!!! She said they didn't want to disappoint us, so they went out and bought a 12 pack just for us!!! Now that's what I call first class customer service. We order. We drink. We munch on copious amounts of chips and delicious homemade salsa. We drink some more. We laugh. We interact with other local patrons and locals in the street. We're having a good time. We watch what appears to be an entire family, cooking and working together in their little, makeshift and chaotically organized kitchen emitting yummy aromas of seafood and lots of garlic, all the while smiling as we chit chat with them and take some pictures. The food is served and is is absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!! The servers are happy to hear this. I ask to speak with the rest of the staff and find out that the main cook is the wife of Felipe, the guy that recommended the place. We all have a good laugh and share lots of hugs for such an enjoyable and memorable experience. We tell them that we will share this experience and that we will come back soon. I for one, intend to keep that promise in October. Good times in Baja!!!
