I was given the job to host a wedding after-party. After looking at a bunch of bars and event…read morespaces, this was the most cost effective and fun venue I could find. There are 2 venues, and this review is for their 2nd one which allows for late night use. The prices are very reasonable (from Dec 2015, the prices may have gone up since then, but for reference only): Refundable Deposit to secure venue: $500 Price per head for 3hrs (Mon-Thur, 11am-6pm) HK$82 Price per head for 3hrs (Mon-Thur, 6-11pm) HK$118 Price per head for 3hrs (Fri - Sun/Public holidays, 11am-6pm) HK$120 Price per head for 3hrs (Fri - Sun/Public holidays, 6-6am) HK$160 *Extra hour after the first 3hrs = HK$300 per hour (before 11pm) *Extra hour after the first 3hrs = HK$400 per hour (after 11pm) *Price including all soft drinks and all the facilities in the room *21/12-31/12 count as Christmas public holiday price *10% service charge *Min 10 people during weekdays and 14 during weekends It's BYOB so we broguht a bunch of wines, beers and hard A. They have: Basketball hoop machine (One out of two was broken) Karaoke Machine Laptop with internet (can play youtube videos for Karaoke) Wii PS4 (can bring your own games) Pool Table Darts (Kind of broken scoring) Boardgames (Jenga, monopoly, etc) Cards Dice Speaker (to connect to music) Mahjong (not sure if they have a table) Fridge (Not that big) Glassware and paper cups/shot cups Wine Glasses (not that many) Once I went in, I was greeted by a stench of bleach. It was quite offputting but once you hang around long enough, you'll get used to the space. The decor was decent, akin to a random bar in Wanchai, so don't expect high end (photos look nicer) but for the price, I was very satisfied. There was one nice girl who was manning the space and she was helping me with pouring out the drinks and putting the wine in the fridge. The venue is spacious, approx 1000sq ft with a decent bathroom. It has a large couch that can easily fit 6 and a table with bench that can squeeze 6 people, there are also a couple stools by the balcony. We had 20 people comfortably and I would say it can fit up to 30 people without feeling like a club. I had wine delivered a couple hours before the event and it was smoothly received, however this has to be coordinated. Overall it came to about $200pp including alcohol for 3 hours of fun. Definitely recommended! I reckon Blackroom 1 may be cleaner since Blackroom 2 is used for drinking and 1 is just for day-time use. *** Tip: Book in advance! BYOB, snacks, games if you want, PS4, music Favourites: Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Responses were fast. Meh: Smells of bleach Last words: Great party venue and centrally located

I am a fan of art. Contemporary art is my wheelhouse of understanding. So if I can go to a mall…read moreand also be exposed to contemporary art, then I am one to subscribe to the notion that this is a good thing. Too many people, art is not a worthy endeavor for daily consideration, so they would think differently. K11 Art Space is a break in the routine in the sea of shopping malls that blanket Hong Kong...yes it is a mall, but the niche is that it has a designated space to pause in this large urban landscape and contemplate contemporary art. Membership is free by simply signing up or a $20HKD admittance charge if you are not, you will be exposed too a small art space with an installation that seems rotate every few months. We visited while Urban Sense (March 3, 2016 thru May 15, 2016) was up. This exhibition looks at the features of contemporary urban life which shape our experiences - architecture, people, space, work, leisure, technology, sound, vision...elements that work together or compete against each other for our attention. When I am back in the K11 Art Mall (really a shopping mall with some art about), I will always pay a visit to the K11 Art Space. It is a quick stop versus a giant museum (which I would visit if Hong Kong had that...bring on M+!), it changes the narrative of a regular visit to the mall and it exposes me to different perspectives...all while buying an overpriced macaroon at a kiosk and buying a new pair of ballet flats on sale.

This made the space quite comfortable yet elegant at the same time. Service was attentive without it being overbearing--helpful with the dish selection as well. We thought the dishes were great from start to finish. The burrata was creamy, complimented by the tart and sweet grilled peach while being cut by the savory cured meats. I ordered the lamb medium-rare and really enjoyed how it was prepared, and the pasta dishes similarly turned out delicious. We felt like the presentation of the dishes were very thoughtful on top of its great taste. Both desserts were a necessary closing of the meal--the creaminess of the tiramisu and panna cotta was not overbearing and helped highlight the respective flavors of coffee and fruit in these desserts!

I am also big on dessert so the new tiramisu recipe was particularly noteworthy, standing out from others that I've tried. Kudos to Boris and Elle for their attentive service; they frequently checked in on us and ensured our comfort. Overall, my visit to Pirata was a delightful experience that I look forward to repeating. Thank you Pirata Group.

Nonetheless, I came into this store just to look around to see if there's anything interesting. Indeed it was, it was filled with baking accessories, goods, and basically everything you could imagine to bake a cake. Although I didn't have an oven at home, i still miss baking. So knowing that they host baking classes here, my friends and I signed up. A group of us came, i think it costed us about $300 for a class. We chose the macaron class. I have joined these classes before but found that a majority of the time, all the ingredients would already have been prepared and in the end you didn't learn anything at all. This class started on time, there were about 12 of us, which is a little packed and there were some late comers as well. We each had our own area to bake and the teacher started to teach us how to make macarons. From my experience, the teacher was not very patient. He got frustrated at some of the students who did things wrong. Not everyone is a master baker. I think he should realise that. It kinda put us off a little bit. Regardless, at least the macarons turned out nicely. I haven't been back since, maybe because I was a little intimidated by the teacher or perhaps I just got really busy. It's a cool experience, at least with this macaron class, we actually got to measure out everything and did it as if we were baking at home. props to that.
