I love trying out new coffee places so was super excited when I saw signs for M36 at this former Espresso Royale location and was super glad to see it's now opened! It's really cool that it's owned by former long term Espresso Royale employees. I really like the space inside! It had the same chill, comfortable atmosphere as Espresso Royale did but updated and brighter! I really liked my iced americano! I wish I was in more of a sweet tooth mood when i visited because all their drink menu items sound sooo good! Lots of classic popular drinks were on it as well as some unique drinks that sound delicious. Can't wait to try some out! They also have a good selection of flavors to add you your drink including several sugar-free options. Customer service was really great and friendly and I am excited to come back!

Latte with oatmilk. The lid was so annoying and kept leaking :( decent coffee though !

I ordered a vanilla oatmilk latte, chocolate chip pumpkin bread, and the pesto grilled cheese. The pumpkin bread was the highlight of the meal. So yummy and a good portion for three dollars. 10/10 The coffee didn't taste super strong and was a little sweet for my taste but was still good. 6.5/10 The grilled cheese was decent but nothing special 8/10!

A nice relaxing coffee shop. Their coffee was great as well as their turkey sandwich.

Solid coffee drinks. Reasonably priced and quick service despite the line. Zucchini bread was delicious. More seating in the basement.

Even when it's cold in the mornings, I always stop at M36 for an iced latte before class. Always super quick service and great taste!

We had a Yelp event at their Dearborn location. I really wanted the iced Adeni chai that a few reviews have talked about, but they were unfortunately out. So, I got the hot Adeni chai with no sweetener. It does take a little longer as they brew it fresh. You can watch them heat and steep from the induction stove right there which is pretty cool. I was surprised by how spacious it was. There were ample tables (that I appreciated they were wiping down on a regular basis) as well as WiFi. If I need to change up scenery, I'll have to stop by here. Also they had a whole refrigerated case of goodies. I'll have to come back and get something - that Pistachio dream cheesecake was calling to me!

We went when there was a student discount (buy one get one free) so that was great, but to be honest, I probably wouldn't go if one of my drinks weren't free- the prices are crazy! But, I guess I can't complain given my normal Starbucks order is around the same cost. Drinks were tasty but the refresher was kind of bland. Again, if we're comparing to Starbucks, I probably would still choose my regular refresher there over this one. Environment was quiet, clean, and easy to study, however it was SO hot! I'm wondering if the heat was on. Not sure why that would be the case since it was the middle of September. Overall, I was a little disappointed with my experience. It did not stand out to me and was overwhelming because of the heat.

They have since changed owners since I last visited, and had the opportunity to meet the new owners daughter who was working on bar that day. She is so friendly and makes a great macchiato! When I opened the bag I could tell right away it was too fine. I attempted to pull a shot, but got nothing. It was most definitely Turkish grind. Since I could do nothing with the bag, I went back to explain this was ground too fine. The same individual was there and reacted with condensation, saying this is indeed espresso grind, which is basically Turkish, and he doesn't know what kind of maker I have so he cannot dial it in. I said I have never had this problem in the years I have done this at other shops. He acted like he could do nothing for me, so when I pressed that I can do nothing with these beans I spent money on, he got on the phone. At one point I heard him say, "Yes, I tried to explain that to her." As if I didn't know what I was talking about. I was finally given the option to get a bag of beans without having them ground, which is all I really wanted. I can grind the beans in my own grinder at home. I went down the street and bought a bag of beans there. I asked for espresso grind and mentioned that the last place gave me Turkish. She had to look up the appropriate setting, but she got it perfect. When I got home and opened the bag of beans from Black Iron, the beans were oily and smelled burnt. My coffee tasted that way, too. I was rather shocked because the latter I had ordered with my purchase was not bad. I had to use them up slowly by masking the bad taste with my go-to beans.
