Poker nights are a good crack and they also have very good pool tables. It's a bit of an alternative bar, and you will find all sorts of characters in there. Dogs are often in the pub and it's a bit smelly and grubby. The menu is good though and the service is good and comes with a smile. Its clear one of those 'locals' pubs but new visitors are welcome. It also has a darts and an outside seating area out the back. Personally I feel the pub needs a make-over but perhaps its oldness is part of its charm!?

The outside balcony is a real treat with great views over Bournemouth for the 8th floor of a building that's already on a hill. The seats are heated from below, and there are blankets too if you feel the breeze. A great location. Sadly the best view. ..out to sea. .. is tantalisingly only seen with a lean over the edge of the balcony. The sea view is reserved for the £550k apartments that have that side of the building. The staff were welcoming enough with a slightly condescending this-is-exclusive-you-know expression on their faces, but maybe they get tourists covered in sand just going for a look.
