We are locals and have used this pub for special occasions. Our guests booked a table for 7 on New…read moreYears Eve lunch to celebrate an 80th birthday. We arrived bang on time and went to our table and waited to order..and waited. We ordered shared starters and waited...and waited. They were very poor the toast was cold and soggy and the butter came late. after a very long wait we ordered mains and waited...for ages. Other guests who arrived after us were served and gone before ours even arrived...and only after an enquiry as to what was the problem, The food had obviously been prepared and then forgotten,,the Hunters Chickens were so hard my partner had great difficulty even cutting through it. It was obvious that the meals had been under the heater for ages and were ruined, We waited to order afters but finally decided on just coffees which we ordered...and waited. The hot chocolate came late and separate As we were being treated to birthday meals by relatives it was difficult to complain but a meal which should been served at 12-30 finally finished without any sweets just before 4pm It was very busy and quite obvious that the 2 waiters could not cope and they were serving on the bar as well A shame as we will not visit The Horns again and risk such an embarrassment for our hosts.

Carvery on a Sunday is excellent; shame they're not at all vegetarian-friendly as absolutely…read moreeverything seemed to have meat in! As a carnivore I loved the choice of meats, sides and sauces for an affordable, enjoyable full Sunday roast we didn't have to cook at home. However I wouldn't be able to bring my vegetarian family members and boyfriend here again as there was nothing except dry vegetables for them to eat - upon asking if a certain item contained meat we were informed 'probably not', not exactly reassuring! I know traditional carvery restaurants are supposed to be all about the meat but many do provide vegetarian options so families can enjoy a meal together, something that would be ideal here. Be sure to book in advance on Sundays or bank holidays as it can get very busy.

Stayed here with my partner on Saturday 30th for one night. The area is residential and quite and…read moreonly 5 minutes from the seafront. Prior to arrival I spoke to Angela who was very helpful and had no issues with my partner and I checking in early before attending a wedding which was a great help. The staff and owners were friendly and polite on arrival. I checked in quickly and ascended the stairs (no lift so not suitable for people who require disabled access) to my room. We had room 3 which was the four poster suite, it was very spacious with a good size en-suite bathroom. Despite the dated decor the room was bright (lots of big windows) and airy and as well as the four poster bed had a living room area with a sofa, table, arm chair, side table with tea/coffee and biscuits, tv and magazines. The room also contained a dressing table/draw and chair, wardrobe, two dressing gowns, a second arm chair and bedside tables. The bathroom was spacious and had white fluffy bath sheets and hand towels and consisted of a fill size bath would shower overhead. Sadly the water temperature was a little temperamental and the shower had no pump so the pressure was weak but was adequate for a quick wash. The room was spotless and the only parts of the room which need attention due to feathers, dust and cobwebs is under/behind the bed and the top frame of the bed but other than that the room was spotless. We needed an iron the morning of departure which was quickly delivered to our room however no ironing board was available so we had to use the table which wasn't a problem for us. The hotel does not offer breakfast but there is a pub restaurant which offers lunch and dinner. There's a small car park right outside and a little seating area/front garden where you can enjoy the sunshine. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
