One side is all about nails, the other side is all about hair, and spa services are downstairs. All the women working here are dedicated to their craft; no one leaves unless they get married, have a baby, move, or retire! They do take a little time to get to know you, so give it a minute. I have been going here for nails for over 15 years. Vaida's manicures last a full week, and she changes what base coat or topcoat she uses on me based on my nails (she can tell if I've been washing a lot of dishes). She brings her own polish if she sees a good toe color for me. She doesn't really massage feet (Tanya does), but if I want a foot massage, I go downstairs or to Joy Foot spa. The full hour is making my feet look good. I honestly get complimented about my nails by strangers all the time- and it's just Marshmallow! When Vaida is on vacation I'm totally happy to go to any of the other ladies, but if I leave town, I just go bare. No one else touches my nails. I used to go to Sine Qua Non or Gordon for cut and color, but then I tried here to save the travel, and that was it. Maryna and Selena are great- today a makeup artist at BlueMercury asked where I get my hair done. Selena has my color looking like a dream, and Gail does my mothers hair better than her own place in Naples. LOVE this place! However, I was greeted very cordially and brought back to Tanya, who had a station in the back. Tanya was nice, no frills, and did my simple manicure professionally and quickly. The manicure was reasonably priced and I will come back if I can find an appointment that fits my schedule.

I walked out with an amazing cut that i was beyond satisfied with. Since then i have gone 2 more times and every time i have the same reaction, perfect. I have had 3 different people cut my hair so i think its safe to say all their barbers are great. Everywhere else i have paid between $14-$18 for the chains and $20-$28 at the nicer salons....For bad results. Here, it costs me $18 for freaking gold! If the perfect cuts and reasonable prices weren't enough, this place is filled with patriotic employees who support our troops. From the flag hanging to the service paraphernalia adorning the walls, i really feel great getting a cut here and have no intentions of bringing my business elsewhere if i can help it. I suggest you make an appointment just to be safe but i have walked in and sat down right away, they tend to get busy sometimes....i think the word is out :)

He greeted me at the door and introduced me first to Tina, who gave me the best facial experience I've ever had. She also did my eyebrows and lip. She used hot rocks for the massage part-- it was AMAZING! And the bed was heated, which on a cold day like yesterday, just felt heavenly. She was so thorough with the facial and took her time to tell me what she was doing each step of the way. This was my first facial in 10 years-- but I'll be back. What a treat, and very reasonably priced! Then I moved over to Jennifer, who took so much time listening to what I wanted to do with my cut and color. Anytime I asked them for an edgy haircut with lots of layers and big bangs (the Zooey DesChanel do), they would interpret that as the "mom haircut". Maybe I should have stopped telling them I have four kids. Anyway... After about a week of living in Highland Park, & after having just moved states, I started my search for a salon that would not only cut my own hair, but cut my husband's and my four kids (ages 7, 6, 4, and 2) hairs. I found Secca through Yelp and loved that the reviews talked about their atmosphere and down to earth attitudes. I have no patience or tolerance for snotty North Shore salons. None. Whatsoever. (I'm originally from Deerfield & Winnetka, so that's how I know.) So I called them. The owner, Claudia, answered the phone. It was a Friday evening, and I told her I needed a last minute appointment for my husband, and my kids (I already had a recent haircut but mentioned to her I may need my bangs trimmed). I didn't expect her to take us in, and thought she would be overwhelmed by the lot of us. Nope. She told us that there was some kind of school dance on Saturday, but that she wanted to work us in regardless for Saturday morning (the very next day). That was so thoughtful of her. She was pleasant on the phone too. So we get there Saturday morning and were greeted so kindly by Claudia, the owner. They had this guy who comes in on some Saturdays only, cut all of my kids and my husband's hair. I am a photographer, so I observe people all the time. I hate that I can't remember the stylist's name, but I watched him cut all of my kids' hair and he was incredibly meticulous, and quite the perfectionist. It was beautiful to watch. I had a different haircut for each child. The modified Maddox cut for my 7 year old boy, the Zac Efron shaggy do for my 6 year old boy, the Justin Bieber for my 4 year old ladies' man, and the Matilda for my 2 year old girl. Impressive. And the kids just loved him. While the rest of the family got their hairs cut, Claudia brought me over to her chair and offered to trim my bangs for free since she knew our family had an upcoming photo shoot. It was so thoughtful of her to do that for me. The atmosphere, the cleanliness of the salon, the customer service, the artistry, the entire experience; has made me a customer for life.
