The salon itself was beautiful - it is located in the Bolingbrook Promenade, and the decor is beautiful and relaxing. The receptionist was incredibly kind and offered me water, coffee or tea when I arrived which was a nice touch. Katy gave me an incredible head massage as a part of my shampoo. It was so relaxing and a true highlight of my experience. She was also incredibly kind and personable. However, my haircut wasn't as great as the rest of the experience. I asked for it to be just below the shoulders, and instead, my cut was above the shoulders. When Katy dried my hair, she asked if I wanted it styled straight or with my natural wave, and I said let's go with my natural wave. I think that was a mistake, because while it looked a little off when I left, I assumed it was just the wave playing tricks on my brain. After I washed my hair the next day, I realized how uneven the cut was. There was about an inch and a half difference between the left and the right side, and it was unevenly cut throughout. Since I noticed on a Saturday evening how bad it was, I ended up going to a local hair Cuttery to get it fixed and they did a great job but did have to remove a bit more length to make it all one length. I ended up with a long bob instead of just below my shoulders. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at the salon itself, but the cut didn't live up to the experience. I might try a different stylist in the future since I did enjoy the location and general vibes, though appointment availability seems quite limited so that may just not end up being convenient or realistic with my schedule.

I have been going to Family Image for their Hair and Spa Services since 1994 (yes, remembering High School!) and Vita, the Salon owner, has personally been taking care of me since 1996. Kendra's treatments have made a real difference in my comfort and mobility. What impresses me most is her remarkable understanding of anatomy and her intuitive touch. She works confidently and deeply through the larger muscle groups, yet instinctively shifts to a much gentler approach when she encounters sensitive or painful areas. I take off a star because I was due to come back for my touch up and got jerked around with what time (drove there from Plainfield to be on time) and they were closed. Also would recommend to not let them decide on the coloring of your extensions if you opt for theirs as people came up to me a few times and could tell where I had gone for my hair braiding based on the coloring. Bring cash, food and something to keep you entertained for the process. If you don't want them tight, please say so but know that your head may be tight for a few days afterward.
