I went to Moran for a second offer on the diamonds I was selling, and his offer ended up being 6% higher than the other I received. Not a huge difference, but money is money, and in this case it was a 1k difference. He was quick to respond to my email and accommodated my tight schedule. He had a nice, clean office and made the process very straightforward and low-stress. I mentioned that I wasn't prepared to sell that day, and he didn't pressure me. He explained how his offer was still less than what the stones would be wholesale (and, for that matter, retail), which I already understood, but it was transparent about the process. One thing I particularly appreciate: I wanted to save the setting of a particular ring to use later, and, while he could have removed it himself, he suggested we have a jeweler remove the stone to prevent unnecessary damage to the setting, even though that meant a second appointment for him. Actually, one of the jewelers I stopped at for advice on selling my diamonds (Bjorkheims) set up an appointment for us to meet. Great experience! I don't really think it gets much better than what just happened. I've sold personal diamonds and jewelry in the past.
