The food is always seasonal and typically farm fresh. I love the fact that I can plop down, order anything on the menu and feel at home. The Bison Tavern is the adult equivalent of a gourmet Sloppy Joe. (the pickles, oh the pickles!) The muffuletta sandwich is my go-to. That sandwich is a duet of Breadico's unctuousness and Haskett's mastery of tapenade and cured meats, coming together for greatness in your mouth-hole. Again, seasonality brings in tasty salads like the German Potato, which has beautiful little gherkins and punchy bits of celery that add the texture and brightness to a surprisingly refreshing interpretation of the German classic (although, I would love to see some bacon added because: Bacon). There isn't a huge selection, but you're sure to find something you like if you're not picky. Looks like you can make your own charcuterie board by mixing different preserves, cheeses, and cured meats ($2.5 each) or get a reasonably priced seasonal menu item ($6-$9). I got 'bison tavern,' which was a ground bison meat sandwich, and came with pub fries and pickles. Nothing about the flavor was striking to me, but everything was fine. I don't have a picture of the food I ate here, and that's because it was so good I ate it all with no chance for a photo. The staff here was incredible. From Tuesday, the hostess/waitress, to the cook, and the young lady working in the kitchen. We stopped here on a trip from Chicago to Seattle. We have been going to Haskett's since they opened. Everyone there is amazing. Especially Mike. The review from Leslie F. neglects the context of how that table treated the servers that day and in the past. I applaud Micheal for doing what more people should do. If someone is trying to smoke/vape inside of a restaurant it affects the other guests at that establishment. If a customer has been asked multiple times and each time mocks the servers as they walk away, they absolutely should be called out publicly. I applaud Mike, for your outstanding food and service, and for your no bullshit attitude. I think I need to get down there more often. read more

This is the perfect spot for breakfast. We came in on a Sunday morning around 9 with our 6yo. We could have been seated outside immediately but hubs declined so we waited about 10 minutes. We ordered mocha latte, iced latte, vanilla latte, eggs Benedict, a breakfast sandwich and a strawberry sweet crepe. 1st. There is not a kids menu but definitely things you could order or share as we did. We ordered our son the crepe. It was filled with strawberry jam. I thought it'd be fresh strawberry on top. We should have asked. I'm sure this would be spot on to some, just wasn't for us. I had the eggs Benedict and shared with my son. This was perfection. It was not your typical hollandaise sauce and hid a little kick of flavor. Not spicy but something that stood out. The whole thing was devoured. We also ordered the breakfast potatoes. I think I got 3 kiddo ate the rest. They come in a small bowl. Husband had the breakfast sandwich and can be very picky and still hungry. This and his own order of potatoes did the trick for him. Overall this was great food. The room did get very loud but is not super noticeable with your own conversation. The only reason i am giving 4 and not 5 stars is. The hostess working was running her butt off. She sat us. Took our drink order and then we waited... tables were sat next to us, after us and got water before we ever did. Still waiting...seemed to be confusing or disagreement on who was waiting on us as 3 different ladies dropped stuff off to us. One long weekend in SD. Lots of time spent in Sioux Falls. Walked into MB Haskett three times. First time, I had missed lunch, and wasn't quite ready for the Friday night 3-course prix fixe dinner, but I came back for Saturday. 1st course, one crunchy crab ball (you might call it a crabcake, but as it was spherical, I deemed it a ball) with a flavorful dipping sauce and a simple yet complete little slaw of beansprouts and pickles. 2nd: a hoisin-marinated grilled chicken breast atop a bed of udon in a light lemongrass broth. I'm not generally a fan of chicken breast (I vastly prefer dark meat), but this one was flavorful and tender; I surprised myself by eating the entire thing with great pleasure. 3rd: a perfect rice pudding with tropical fruits and pistachios. I can't recall ever having a better one. I went back on Monday looking for something I could take out, since I wasn't hungry yet but wanted to have a better option than what I was likely to find at the airport or on the plane. I had just missed the rice bowl, but the quinoa/asparagus/feta salad was a fine consolation prize! I wish I'd also had a chance to try their coffee, but alas, it was not to be. While the food was good, it was not great and the preparation time was unacceptable. Our order was carry out and we waited at least 45 minutes for our order. I have eaten here a couple times. It's a nice cozy little place. They have a good selection of ciders. The menu is sparse if you need to eat gluten and/or dairy free. I had to have steak again. It came out with a great bit patty of butter on top. The first time I had this it didn't. They prepared a new one for me. I think they were the same veggies as they were luke warm at best. The steak itself is small and average tasting. Based on my bodies reaction later last night I would guess the veggies were cooked in butter. The service has always been good. Great lunch stop in the heart of downtown. Sioux Falls. I had the savory ham crepe with a field greens salad on the side. There was an option to add an egg to it, but I didn't. After talking with the cook/chef (counter style seating in open kitchen), I know I will add the egg next time.
