Eventually, one of our new friends mentioned WinCo. So, we started going there. As in the other reviews, the first thing I found out was that it's either cash or debit card, no credit. Not a problem as I carry my debit card in my wallet, and have no added it to my Apple Wallet. Also, even if you go through the full checkout line, you have to bag your own groceries. This is no problem at all for us because, for the most part, we go through self-checkout lines whenever we can. Prices are the best compared to Albertsons (we don't grocery shop at Wal-Mart or Target). We do shop at Costco for some bulk items and toiletries, but the nice thing about WinCo is that you don't have to buy in bulk. WinCo does seem to have good produce, and I love the selection of whole coffee beans, since I do like to grind my own. I also buy bulk instant Gluten free oats to make oatmeal. We try to buy as many of our groceries as we can at WinCo, but since it's a 15-20 minute drive from Star, if we're feeling lazy, we just go to Albertsons. We retired so we have the time. I'm happy to have this nice WinCo so close to home.

The prices are very reasonable, even though I've noticed inflation in recent months... especially since I frequent it almost every other day! Sometimes their prices are lower than Costco, sometimes they're higher... I love how there's so much variety in their bulk bins and how it's always kept so clean! The self serving bag-it-yourself brings me back to my childhood days of bagging everything. Very nostalgic. My daughter loves bagging groceries for me, so win right there when I'm not in the mood for bag. I never tried it, but my kids told me they really like the hot foods and the cheap prices. This is now my go-to grocery store.

It seemed like your average local grocery store. It didn't strike me as a chain grocery store. They had an OK selection of items for the size of the store. It was a bit cluttered and almost every single aisle had an obstacle in it and the isles were not super wide. Most long shelf life items especially if they were on sale or either out or very short supply. Prices were a little higher than Walmart but lower than Albertsons. I was surprised to find a decent selection of number 10 cans of freeze dried food at a price equal or slightly less to Walmart. Walmart is always out of stock so this was awesome! They also had Idaho cheese which I love and since I discovered it freezes well I'll always pick it up when I find it. Another happy find was a large package of bacon at a reasonable price. It's not something I need a A lot but given the current inflation I can foresee eating a lot of beans in there a lot tastier with some bacon in them! Best part of The experience was the cashier. When I lasted visited I was looking for French holiday chocolates. Obviously, I didn't find any. More specifically, the French holiday chocolates are called Papillotes. Papillotes are wrapped like little presents and have decorative ribbons and tassles at the end. We did find similar chocolates in the bins by the meats and cheese. Those chocolates were good not as good as French or Belgium chocolates but its as close as we're going to find in the Boise area. We have not purchased any other items but perhaps when my Mom is back in March, we'll purchase some Mortadella for her to try. The employee who served us stated that it had been prepared that day and identified it as flounder. When we returned home, we shared the fish with our entire family, including a child. We ate only about one-third of it. By the next morning, everyone became ill, experiencing fever, chills, bloating, and diarrhea. We could not eat anything the following day except water and bananas. This was a very unpleasant experience, and we are concerned that the fish may have been expired, improperly stored, or undercooked. Upon closer inspection, the actual piece of fish appeared to be very small, while most of the surrounding coating had a grayish color and a spongy, sticky, and undercooked texture. It almost seemed as though additional filler had been used to increase the product's weight. The taste was not fresh at all, and it had an odor similar to an old fish tank. The fish seemed old and may have been stored in the freezer for an extended period of time. The surrounding substance resembled soggy breading or undercooked batter. Overall, something seemed very wrong with the product. Customers should be especially cautious when purchasing this type of food for their children.We had to throw the food away, resulting in a complete waste of money. This situation appears to have been caused by poor judgment or unprofessional handling of the product, which is very disappointing from a customer standpoint.

The website said they had them. The gentleman that helped me was very nice, and asked what I needed, then took me to the aisle where their drain cleaning products were.
