I've used M and M Tree Service several times over the years. Our goal has been to keep our big oaks off the roof and away from our home. I scheduled them to trim things back 2 weeks before Helena and we had no issues as a result. After Milton, we had a palm that got pushed over, and M and M was able to save the palm and return it to an upright position. These guys were great. The owner, Mike, is an actual arborist. Not some guy with a chainsaw. I told him what id like doen and he made several recommendations to help me achieve my goal while saving as much tree life as possible. They removed a large maple that was posing a hazard, and trimmed back and cleaned up the rest of my tree line. They cleaned up after themselves and were professional and courteous. Other tree services i got bids from wouldnt even do the work for up to five weeks. Mike realized i was in a hazard situation and rearranged his schedule to accommodate. These guys were out chain-sawing at 7am in my neighbors yard, I don't think this is a reasonable time. They woke up multiple people in the neighborhood. I can't imagine ever using any company that has so little professional courtesy. read more

This is the second time we have used M&M tree service. A decade has not altered the service or their courtesy. Mike was professional, polite, and focused on the business at hand. He was on time for our consultation, and was on time for our service date. I so appreciate that he wasn't just concerned with getting rid of stuff, nor was he merely concerned with money. Last year I called M & M in regards to cutting down a dead pine tree. They arrived for the estimate when they said they would and I liked that they were true arborists, but I did not use them as they wanted $400 to cut down the tree and I had already gotten an estimate of $100 from someone else. This year another tree died and I gave them a second chance. They were suppose to come out on a Monday to give me an estimate. They didn't show. Nor did they call and apologize for not showing or to reschedule. Tuesday came and went and they didn't show. Nor did they call and apologize for not showing or to reschedule. Late Tuesday afternoon I called them. I left a message on voice mail asking what was going on. They did not call me back and apologize for not showing or to reschedule the estimate. Wednesday they showed up, unannounced. He didn't offer any apology for blowing me off for the last two days, in fact, he didn't even bring it up. When I did, he told me his reason (excuse) for not being here, but no apology. Again, their price was hundreds of dollars higher than other companies. I agreed to the higher price simply because he said he could get it done the next day and I was concerned about summer storms blowing the dead tree into a neighbors yard. They said they'd be out around 11 AM the next (Thursday) morning. Thursday morning a dr I had a 4:00 appointment with, called and asked if I could come at 1:15 instead. So, around 9ish, I called M and M and asked if keeping their 11:00 appointment would be cutting it too close to this new dr appointment or should I reschedule? I was told that this still gave them "plenty of time" to take care of the tree, so we did not reschedule. They never showed at 11. Or at 12. Nor did they call and explain they were running late or try to reschedule. An hour and a half after they were suppose to be here, when I could wait for them no longer, I called them and got voice mail. I left a message saying that I had to leave for this dr appointment and that they needed to call me to reschedule. They didn't call me back to apologize for not showing, or to tell me how late they were running, or to reschedule. I came home and discovered the tree gone. They had come while I was gone and cut it down. There was also an incident with a shrub. I had transplanted a shrub near the dead pine about six weeks earlier. The shrub dropped all it's leaves in the transplantation, so it looked bad. It had just started sending out new leaves about a week before the tree cutting. The whole shrub mysteriously disappeared after the tree cutting that I was not present for. I suspect that someone who knows nothing of plants thought it was dead and simply pulled it from the ground. Because it was recently transplanted, I'm sure it lifted from it's hole very easily. I am not saying this was maliciously done, but if they had done the cutting when I was here, this would not have happened. Two days later M & M sent me the bill (as I wasn't home to pay them when they actually cut the tree). It was $400 higher than the agreed upon price. I called and left a message informing them of this. I also informed them that too many unprofessional incidences had occurred and that therefore I intended to write an unfavorable review. In response to this message, they did call me back. They very nicely apologized for these things, offered to buy me a new shrub, and took care of the clerical error on the bill. Unfortunately, I doubt I would do business with them again, especially if it was just basic tree pruning. They were simply too unprofessional and overpriced for me to consider them again unless I truly needed a certified arborist. read more

If I could rate no star, I would. I never confirmed a time to come over for an estimate after an initial contact. I was out of town dealing with a family emergency. I am at work and received a text that Mike was running "way ahead of schedule" and was in front of my house. I immediately texted him back and told him that we already took care of our issue. He was short, sarcastic, unprofessional and over all doesn't care about preserving the opportunity for future business. Find someone else, not even worth getting an estimate. read more

Called several tree services for work that needed to be done. Of course several never even called back. M & M called backed right away, came the next day with a written estimate. Of the 3 that came, one was much more the other was lower, but nothing was written down, so we had no idea what they were planning to do, M & M's price was in the middle. I would give this company zero stars if possible. Called them 1 month ago and had one of the owners come out to give an estimate. Maybe the work was more than he wanted to deal with, because I had a grand oak that had to be removed. he quoted me off the top $8,000 for the removal, and we talked about some of the other grand oaks (3) that I needed to have trimmed. He said he would email me with an estimate that night, insisting that he came out and did a free estimate because "I want your business!" Literally 1 month later, never heard from the guy, and Arbor Bay has already been hired, complete all of the work, removed the oak for 1/2 the price he quoted, and were 100% responsive and professional. Mike and his crew have kept my ten palm trees trimmed for the past 12 years. Three are very tall Washingtonians. They take their bucket truck over my lawn, never digging up the grass or damaging a sprinkler head. They come when they say they will, and the cost is very reasonable considering the danger. They are quick, leave the yard clean and are courteous and respectful. I'm lucky to know them and hope they stay safe and healthy. Thanks Mike and Crew. read more

M&M Tree Service has been unfairly maligned on this website due to a competitor who adopted their name and tried to do business as M&M but who i am told was an ex-felon. The real M&M (Machado Brothers) did a fantastic job on our property where we had a 31-year old maple 25 inches in diameter at the base which was diseased and needed to be removed. They also removed two additional trees in our backyard as well as trimming the branches of an overhanging tree from a neighbor's yard. Everything was done to specifications these people are arborists and know their job. The grounds were cleaned after the job was done and even after the stump grinding the place was left immaculate. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews on yelp they are not a reflection of the quality work done by this companhy which has been operating in Tampa for many many years. Kudos to Mike Machado. He and his crew are the best in the business! read more
