I don't know if I've just been misunderstood by whoever comes to do the estimates but this company always charges up to 5x higher than anyway else charges for the job, so unfortunately I've yet to have them do my lawn work. In this case it was to cut the limbs, leaving them where they fell, leaving 15' of the tree up. No other company needed a bucket truck and they added that in the estimate of $3,500, which is what everyone else charged for removing the entire tree down to inches of stump left. The second highest estimate I got was $1,200, ultimately having it done quickly for $900 (all from local reputable companies). So I never understood why I get charged for a full tree removal (according to other estimates) by this company. I just haven't had luck getting anything near comparable estimates with his company. read more

They are here again to remove 2 large oak limbs from neighbor's tree, one huge 12" diameter leaning on my roof quest. Remarkably quick....came to do an estimate the day after we had power restored and did the actual work today.....7 days after the damage. Managed it all with a crew of 3 and did not even need a boom. Hauled all the debris to the curb and intend to pick up later. Used a poser blower to clear the dead leaves and cut some mid-sized logs for our fireplace. I wish they cost less ($890 for about 2 hours work with no special equipment but it is high risk/high Workers Comp premiums so better than hiring a crew in a pickup with minimal safely training and no WC coverage. read more

We had him out here this morning. We have a live oak tree growing over our property less than 10 feet from out house, growing in our neighbor's land. According to his article, one of the worst 3 trees to plant near your house. We were upset about the damage to our roof, the mess, including constantly filling our gutters, mosquitos, etc. We explained during the appointment process that we had our neighbor's permission to remove these trees from over our property. He walked off the site, saying not to contact him or his company again. Complete surprise. We obviously dodged a bullet there. read more

Absolutely would not hire this company. They removed a tree from my neighbors back yard and placed on my front yard across the street. Didn't ask, just dropped the tree on top of my yard and decor, also broke my mailbox. Crew had trash, tools, and we're hanging about on my lawn. Blocked most of the road, did nothing to stop vehicles from driving through my yard, so I have ruts to fill in. Could have coned off traffic with no impact as the only driveway is mine and all others can be gotten to by going around the block. Crew was confrontational and insulting. I called their office the next day and was met with similar attitude. No real interest in making things right or being respectful. Would not hire if you want to maintain good relationship with your neighbors. Also can only imagine how they would treat someone under contract. read more

I had a large tree removed,and stump ground staff was very polite. Unfortunately the truck cracked the sidewalk. The salesman Darrell took photos and the company not only replaced the walk but removed the mound left by the tree stump. I would recommend this company and will call them for any future needs. We had several quotes, with Pete and Ron's being the best of those I considered reputable. When i told Arbour Bay I was going with Pete and Ron they told me I would be in good hands. Had 2 very large oaks, one inaccessible from the front yard, one less than 2 feet from my roof edge taken down with a crane. I left for work in the A.M. and when I got home at 4 the trees were gone. Minimal damage from the heavy equipment in my yard. Will definitely recommend to friends and neighbors. read more

We are very pleased! The crew that took down our huge Oak were a professional and knowledgeable group. They did an excellent job. We were impressed with the equipment, cherry-picker, clean dump truck, blowers. This was a big job; Pete and Ron's were not our least expensive quote (we got 3) but the quote was professional from the get go and we were impressed. They backed it up with wonderful work, cleaned as they went - were respectful of our neighbors as well. I can't say enough good things about this company. We have given P&R the lowest rating because they have absolutely earned it. They did not do what was discussed with the "salesman" that looked at the tree initially and have left the tree with irreparable damage while also causing property damage. Their arborist/salesman came to the house and quoted a job that was only to trim back needed dead branches and some others that were getting too close to our roof. It was also supposed to be a climbing job only; no heavy equipment was to be brought into the yard. We were also advised that it would better if we were not home when the work crew arrived for "safety" reasons, so we weren't. When we saw the tree, shocked does not come close to describing what we felt when saw what was once a gorgeous live oak hacked and now lopsided. There were large, healthy branches that were in no danger of touching the house that were chopped off. There were also large ruts on the lawn where they had taken down our fence panel to get their truck on to the property and breaking pavers along the way. There was even a large, healthy branch that was unnecessarily removed just for the sake of convenience so they could get the truck closer to the tree. We had the arborist /salesman (Bob) come back out to explain himself and the company. He was in agreement that the crew was out of line and wished he had been there when the work was being done to prevent what happened. He said he would talk to the owner. The owner did a drive-by but did not take the time to come talk to us. He did admit via email that the crew took too much off the tree. P&R's "solution" was to offer an insulting & meager discount for the job. The tree cannot be "fixed". The reason we had it trimmed was to keep it healthy and to make sure that if another hurricane came through that it would be less likely to cause any structural damage to our home. If a storm does come, there is no doubt which way the tree would fall. It'll miss the house, but its root-ball will give it a nice facelift. read more

Had used P&R in the past and can't recall any major problems. Recently arranged for a quote, had person come to property, waited a week, emailed for status, then estimator finally told me P&R did not want to do the work due to concerns being able to satisfactorily complete the work. I recently called Pete & Ron's to have a tree removed at my office. The arborist came out and took a look and gave me a price. Today when I got to my office I noticed the tree was gone. He did a fantastic job. There is no sign of debris and in fact it looks like the tree was never there. He actually filled the hole with dirt and planted St Augustine grass on top. I am amazed at the great job and could not be happier with the service provided. read more

They came out when I was not there. Did a decent job but did not do the primary part of my request, to remove the higher limbs above the driveway. Let them know and they came back out. They completed the job great but after leaving, their machine left a large oil stain on my driveway. I let them know and they sent someone out to pressure wash it. The stain did not come out. Tree looks great but the driveway is damaged. No response after letting them know. read more

This company is incredibly unprofessional and incompetent. One of their salesman gave (Scott) us a quote and a date to perform the work. The day before the work was to be performed, the foreman (Kevin) came out and determined they couldn't do the job the way Scott wrote up the proposal. So we had to postpone the work for two weeks. Then a few days before the rescheduled date they called to postpone again. Finally on the third date, a guy shows up and takes our fence down (finally a good sign)! Then the rest of the crew shows up and tells us they were going to get started. But 20 minutes later, the entire crew was gone. No one said a word to us, they just left. After several hours of calling the company, Kevin and Scott we finally contacted Scott who told us they weren't going to do the job and then he started laughing. Incredibly unprofessional. We talked to Kevin and he had no reason either, just didn't want to do the work. By the way, we got 8 quotes and P & R was the highest. We went with them due to the size of the company. We figured better be safe than sorry. What a mistake. I've since learned that they may be more of a broker than anything else. In other words, they sell the work and then give it to others to actually do the work. Please, be VERY careful of this company. Incredibly unprofessional and incompetent. read more
