I came here for a Lunar New Years Orchestra event and I was pleasantly surprised how grand the opera house was. It was much better than I had imagined and it was picturesque. The logistics of this place gets a bit getting used to as it has multi levels and winds a bit but once you understand the layout, it's easy to figure out. The one thing I don't like is the parking situation that shares with the metro station. Once an event ends, it's Armageddon. The parking lot and the area is really not suitable for THAT many people all at once. It was crazy. If you're closer to the front of the line to get out, you'll likely save about 30 minutes of your time. If you're in the back, good luck. read more

This theater venue continues to be a fav due to its gorgeous structure, and comfy seating. It's so easy to locate w limited street parking, plentiful garage parking. The employees are always very helpful and kind. I've attended for plays, concerts, and misc performances. There's not a bad seat in the place. The premises are always clean and tidy. Spacious, classy opera house vibe, good number of bars on site, limited liquor selections but good enough for pre-show drinks. Lots of candy snacks to choose from and the large pretzel was soft but a little too much salt on it. Staff were friendly, good service. Parking garage nearby but pricey for show nights , we paid $30. There are street parking available as well. High walking score, with many restaurants close by and access to other buildings. We had a good time with the show and will return for more events. Nice location for events. I did not like that they refused my entrance with a reusable water bottle. They also charged 4.50$ for basic water bottle. No thanks! I'd rather be thirsty. On top of that they blocked their two water fountains and labeled both "out of order." Sure it's "out of order." So make sure you chug water right before you come to your event. Event parking across the street is $25. The staff are overall friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were nice and clean. Saw Sheng Wang here and the show was hilarious and fun. It was a respectful and diverse crowd. It was a wonderful night. read more

Baltimore has so many venues for concerts, comedians, and the arts. Located near Micah the lyric is a venue I've been to once before, and I recently attended to see a comedian. Ronny Chieng came to Baltimore! Actually, I've only ever seen comedians here, but I know that they do ballet and other shows. The venue is interestingly shaped there is a main orchestra area and then the mezzanine is all along the side in a rectangle format, not a traditional circle. The prices were affordable because of theirown.com site which I really appreciated. The tickets were much more expensive on resale sites which usually isn't the case. You can't find some street parking around the area if you get there early and there's a handful of places to go before and after. Notably the Mount Royal Tavern! The staff is friendly and helpful as well. read more

Overall: easy place to see a show with kind staff and multi-stall gendered restrooms We saw a comedy show here. It was convenient to parks at the Fitzgerald Parking Garage. Event parking was $25. They did a quick bag check. There were multiple concession areas with popcorn, candy, beer, wine, canned cocktails and seltzers, pretzels, and soft drinks all over priced like at most events. The venue was a medium size with individual red velvet chairs. We sat in a "box" seat which was misleading. It's not a box, but just 4 seats on the other side of an aisle. They were easier to get in and out from versus being in a long row, but so much of the show was blocked because so many people showed up late and were walking through the aisle to get to their seats. read more

My second visit to the Lyric and I would have to say that I really enjoy this venue. The sound system tonight really rocked for The Alan Parsons project. Staff are helpful, clean rest rooms and easy in and out. Lots of local parking options in the area. read more

Went to Lyric for Bonnie Raitt show this week. I have been to theatre many many times before and really like this venue for shows. Small enough to be intimate but large enough to bring in good shows. Very organized staff and easy access. Beverage vendors set up and short lines. Ushers are low key from my experiences and helpful & courteous. Prefer seats in balcony on sides where you have great sight lines (see pic) and sound is good. Venue gets 4 stars. Concert gets 5 stars. read more

Visited the Lyric for the first time to see Swan Lake and had a great time! The theater is beautiful and has ample seating. However, I do not recommend sitting in the first few rows for a ballet performance. The seats were too low and you couldn't see the dancers feet, which was a little disappointing. The parking garage across the street was easily accessible and affordable. I got my parking in advance on spot hero and it was seamless. read more

Venue looks awesome but damn it is disorganized. It took us 30 minutes to get out of the place. It took us an hour to get out of the parking garage. We went to a comedy show and when people laugh you cannot hear the comedian. So much acoustics. No body here understands how to manage groups of people. In the beginning a person was taking each group to their seats like one at a time which was super ineffective. At the end the staff totally disappeared and the herd tore itself to pieces trying to get out. Everyone ended up collecting in the same stairwell. This stairwell leads outside. So if you drove two hours you don't get a last chance to pee. It's just get out. The actual place is beautiful inside. I'd go again if there was something cool there. I don't know where I would park but it sure as hell wouldn't be their suggested garage. read more

We love the Lyric. Every time we go we seem to always have a great experience with a staff member. Bartenders are the best. They have stuff for kids and for mom and dad. The prices are fair and the snack choices are many. Wish they still had hotdogs though. 10 out of 10!!!!! read more

First time at The Lyric. What is good is great. What was not so good could easily be fixed to make better. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The venue shows some age but is very charming. The acoustics had a few tics here and there but all in all was fine. Now for the bad. It is quite cold inside. To be comfortable, you must brings appropriate gear in the winter. A simple fix would be to turn up the heat. And the most frustrating was the concessions, which are run by Ashling. It is shameful for $15 beers and $20 mixed drinks. Sure, it is the norm for captive audience places but do they have to be so criminal in their activities? Ashling was crossed off my list of restaurants I patronize after seeing they are crooks at the theater. And the worst part is they shut off the water fountains inside to force you to buy a $5 water and an extra $2 cup of ice if you wish. The Lyric needs to demand reasonable prices from their vendors and they certainly have to turn the water fountains back on. I am contemplating contacting Mayor Scott and the Maryland Department of Health on the water shut off. Perhaps Attorney General Anthony Brown as well. read more

We came here to see Me Pat's show. the place was okay. you can tell it is outdated for sure. The seats were small. I am only complaining because the person next to me clearly needed more space and was halfway sitting on me. There was a long line when we arrived, and the instructions were not the clearest. The staff was nice and helpful, but the place was a bit confusing to say the least. The view was very good, but some comedians were a bit hard to hear. Bad acoustics and very uncomfortable dining room chairs in rear boxes. One of the worst venues for a rock concert. It's an echo chamber. I have attended stand up comedians here and it was ok. No excuses for the crappy chairs though. read more

Very disorganized. Worse than TSA trying to get in - it took us 30 minutes (plus a 15 minute walk to return the purse to the car) so we were lucky to get there early. It's an opera house. This isn't Fort Knox. read more

Our kids got us box seat tickets to see Riverdance. The seats were horrible. They put in a second row of seats, making a box designed for four seats to eight. From what little we saw, it must have been a fantastic show. I've included the view from my seat. The box floor is level, so their view will always be significantly obstructed. To add to the experience, what I surmised to be a bus trip that arrived fifteen minutes into the performance was staged in front of our box while they worked on SLOWLY getting them to their seats. RECOMMENDATION: stage them in the back of the theater, or better, don't allow them in until intermission. If they don't feel it's important to be on time, there should be consequences. The price of ensuring one is on time for the performance shouldn't be looking at the late group's asses for 25% of the first half of the show. IF I ever return here for a show, it will definitely not include the box seats. Between poor design and mismanagement, they are the worst seats in the house. These are penalty boxes. read more

At 7pm, people were lined up outside the building still waiting to get in. we were herded in like a bunch of cattle. seated finally at 7:30pm. the show ended promptly at 8:30pm. we spent more time getting into the venue than we did at the show. The opera house itself is gorgeous, but with desperate need of some TLC. And please, if you look to renovate, do not destroy the beautiful architecture and design, just update it a bit. The seats can go, the floors can do, but the balcony archways with composers painted above... classic and beautiful. Do not lose those. The parking situation is a joke, and the surrounding streets are a nightmare of potholes, unfinished construction projects, and virtually no street marking. Crossing the busy avenue leading to the front is a risky undertaking. Still, all these things considered, I would definitely return for the opera house itself. I hope it gets some attention in the near future, same with the parking garage and surrounding streets. read more

The sound engineers for the Anthony Hamilton concert were amateur at best. Really disappointed. The venue was beautiful and you could tell the artist did his best. But the sound was horrid! read more

This place is a wonderful venue for concerts. Its a theatre and the seating is well placed (roomy compared to most theatres) and comfortable. The Lyric is BEAUTIFUL and has great acoustics. I have seen 2 shows here an love the venue. My only complaint is the security staff. If you try to take pictures of the entertainer during the show - the security staff will be on you like a moth to the flame. I understand the need to protect the artist, etc. But let me tell you HOW annoying this is. This almost RUINED the Harry Connick Jr. show for me & my friend. There were people sitting around me that continued to pull out their iPhones and try to take pics or videos of Harry during the concert. The security staff would run over to the end of the isle and shine a flashlight on their face - which... if you are sitting near that offender - the flashlight shines in your eyes too - and after about 15 times of this happening - this becomes more than annoying and I could not enjoy the show. Note to Lyric Security- Make an announcement before the show to tell patrons that they can not take pictures or videos during the show and to turn off their phones. This will make the concert more enjoyable for everyone. And... actually do something to such violators, such as kick them out - they are ruining it for everyone else!! read more

There's never a bad seat in the house! I mean honestly, you could have the last row in the house and you wouldn't have an issue seeing. Went here over the weekend to see Broadway's Elf, in hopes to get me a wee bit in the holiday spirit. Let's just say the show was amazing, the bathrooms were clean and the seats were comfortable. My latest visit to the Lyric was for a charity event. Heavy appetizers with beer/wine open bar was nicely done. The concert to follow was great. Seats are very tight, my knees were pressed against the back of chair in front of me the entire evening. Impossible to let someone pass without having to get out seat and walk in aisle. Friendly staff that escorted us to our seats and assisted someone in my party with high heels up and down stairs. Parking garage available across street (Cash only). Located in a nice/safe neighborhood. read more

Went for the impractical jokers live on march 10. The show was very good. The bad was we were ushered out a fire exit and didn't move for about 10 minutes. Good thing there was no fire, huh. They finally let us turn around and go out the front doors. The workers were telling everyone they had to leave. Couldn't buy any shirts or even use the bathrooms. Will never return to this venue. read more
