This wouldn't have been a huge issue other than the fact that it had started to rain just a few minutes prior. I put my bag in my car and left. I have a very good friend who was affected by the recent flooding in East Texas and he recount this story to me: "Friday night I went to Book Stan, no big deal now since I am staying in Beaumont/Nederland for the moment. Miss Beverly knew I had lost 99% of my books and cards and some of my miniatures had been stepped on because they floated around the house. And the Friday before she told me to stick around and offered me a discount on the books I felt like replacing....being soft hearted as I am I cried and she gave me a hug and told me she was going to help me. I came in Friday and looked on the new stuff shelf like I always do, and when I got to the counter, I started to ask her for 2 of the books I had set aside to buy. She said I got 2 problems, first the discount I told you last week, Terry said it wasn't good enough and doubled it. And second I talked to Games-Workshop and they have given you money to help replace your books and the miniatures you lost....." I received a damaged book in the mail. Rather than ask me to return it for a refund, seller…read moreinsisted I keep the book, then involved me in an insurance claim which involved taking several photos, filling out a form, then waiting who knows how long. The damaged book, in my opinion was not eligible for a claim because it was poorly packed, ie, not boxed. Seller asked me on multiple occasions to send additional photos of packing materials. I'm not sure how many pictures one can take of a bag. No offer to return book, no apology for my inconvenience, no offer of a refund was forthcoming. I eventually got tired of the whole procedure which I believe is what the seller intended.

I found parallel parking right in front on the store, I'm sure there's a lot close by if parallel parking isn't your thing. The store is narrow but they have made excellent use of the space. There are tons of comics, books, action figures and even a small selection of reasonably priced vinyl records. The employee was talking to a younger comic book fan while I was there, suggesting what to read and characters he might like. I could tell the employee had a real passion for what he was doing, it was very nice. I'm glad I made the trip to Baytown, it's a really cool store.

He sometimes hosts MTG tournaments and and has a solid collection of commons that he sells for cheap, as well as a collection of rares and mythics that go for higher, but reasonable prices. I've been here several times and will keep coming back. Nice to have a decent comic/gaming shop in Baytown that isn't that other one.
