We used them for fire damage. Very charming in the beginning but soon as the contract was signed and some money changed hands, things went downhill. A simple job took 2x the estimated time and we're talking months. Days and weeks would go by with no one showing up at the job site. They use the cheapest subcontractors because they made more money from the insurance company. So much work had to be redone by other contractors. The owner's wife threatened me with legal action because I witheld some payments for shoddy work. Valuables disappeared. Valuable paintings were stored for months before restoration from smoke damage. A nightmare. read more

After a plumber took a look in our crawl space for, what seemed like a leek in the sewer line, we learned that before his company could do the work, we needed to engage a restoration company to clear out the water and debris from a broken pipe. The pipe emptied our kitchen and laundry room - dishwasher, garbage disposal, washing machine, laundry sink etc., into the sewer line Nick and Robbie were very responsive and arranged for Jesus, Israel and crew to do the work. They worked on it for 2 1/2 days. The smell is gone (and so is a lot of wet dirt from under our house). The crew could not have been nicer and more friendly. If we are unfortunate enough to need another cleanup, we would be delighted to use them again. read more

They were out to evaluate and within days had assigned a team .This was a stressful situation which I did not know what to expect. They were professional, detailed and helpful- (understanding the process, what to expect, and advising me when I was confused). They also worked diligently and fished quickly. I manage a Landmarked Historic estate in San Francisco that incurred extensive water damage on all four levels from a major leak in the roof. The home was built in the 1890's and has original old growth redwood woodwork throughout. Lyon Restoration's demo team went above and beyond to surgically remove all woodwork to ensure that it could either be re-installed, or easily repaired or replicated. Their water damage remediation team was respectful, professional, and available to answer any and all questions I had. The lines of communication with Nick Lyon, the owner of Lyon Restoration, were also stellar. I have dealt with other water damage remediation companies in the past who ended up doing total hack jobs and, ultimately, caused more damage than the original leak itself. Due to my past experiences, I, understandably, was initially very apprehensive about providing Lyon Restoration with carte blanche access throughout my client's historic estate to perform the necessary water damage remediation and demo. However, my fears and concerns were quickly assuaged after witnessing the level of detail, care, consideration and professionalism exemplified by the Lyon team. Even our architect and contractors were impressed by the results of Lyon's water damage demo job! It is quite stressful to have a major leak occur in a home. Nick Lyon took much of that stress off my shoulders by coordinating all of the necessary subcontractors himself. His reliable communication ensured that I knew what to expect during each step of the process. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of having to deal with a leak in your home, Lyon Restoration is the ONLY company you should call. Lyons did a GREAT job on our water damage restoration. A dishwasher malfunction caused major water damage to our upstairs and downstairs rooms. Chris Pambid came out and started the mitigation process the day following our contact with Lyons, which happened to be Mothers Day. He immediately started removing wet and damaged property to minimize property loss, brought in huge de-humidifiers and fans, all on the first day. By the second day he had a full team there, Randy, Luna, and many others. This team was awesome !!!! They worked for several weeks, to remove damaged material, inventory and remove damaged personal property, packed up and stored undamaged personal property, and insured the structure was being dried out properly, 24/7. Chris took pro-active measures the first day to save our recently remodeled kitchen from water/mold damage. This guy knows his stuff!!! Donna from the office staff also did a fantastic job, in keeping the process running smoothly, and working closely with our insurance company. Chris, Randy, Donna, and the entire Lyons team did a great job in reducing our anxiety level, and getting us on the road to be able to start the reconstruction process. They are vey compassionate people, know their craft, and try their hardest to reduce or eliminate our stress! read more

This contractor deserves negative stars. Hope my review will help other people avoid nightmare experience with this contractor! When your property needs water remediation, you are always anxious and want to get the remediation done as soon as possible to avoid more damages. The owner Nick of Lyon Restoration and the office lady in the phone, they work together to scam your money. When you contact them for free estimation, the owner would scare you by stating how bad your property situation is. Ask you to pay for money through the phone, sign something in a hurry. (Note: Don't pay by bank account number instead of credit card as it will be very hard for you to dispute). After that, the Nick will disappear. The office will tell you that you will be contacted by Nick shortly. (A few weeks normally). During this time you will have no idea how the property is going to be repaired or when the work will start. The descriptions given might also not line up with reality. An estimate by Lyon for 8 weeks ended up being literally 3 days of work for another contractor. Never work with this contractor!!! read more

Do NOT hire. Reading the 1 star reviews here was incredibly validating because we had the EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE with Nick Lyons. This was, hands down, the worst customer service experience we have ever had. A water leak from our ice maker led to our insurer (Chubb) recommending Lyon Restoration. At first, Nick Lyon seemed genuinely qualified, responsive, reliable and friendly. That initial impression made us want to trust him over the next 18 months of mismanagement, missed deadlines, over billing, and even failure to fix the initial water damage and create new issues. As one example, Nick Lyons subcontracted our floor work to California Carpets and did not even bother to have someone onsite to monitor their work or even to check that the moisture from our leak was truly remediated before the new floor install (the sole reason our insurer initially referred us to him). When we got home, we could still hear water squeaking under the new floors (which had been installed without any care for aesthetic, with short and long boards installed haphazardly and rough cut to the point our 3 year old got splinters from walking over the floor). Nick's team took two weeks to come on site to listen to our concerns and the moisture levels proved they had not properly removed the water. By then, supply chain issues resulted in another month+ delay to actually receive new flooring materials-- all because of his mismanagement. This pattern continued for the remainder of the project. Nobody would come on site, subcontractors were barely managed, and we would find horrific problems with their work (we had another leak because Nick's plumbing contractor did not do his job properly and had to pay for another company to remediate because we did not trust Nick or his contractors). The new plumber said most of his business now is fixing poor installation from the plumber Nick contracts to! That is how bad Lyon Restoration is-- not only do they not fix water damage at first, their installs actually create NEW leaks. I do not make this accusation lightly but I also want to echo something one of the other female reviewers said: Nick treats women differently than men, frequently refusing to deal with them and treating concerns as "hysterical"-- threatening to walk away "it sounds like you're unhappy with our work, maybe you should find someone else" was a frequent refrain-- versus making a good faith effort to fix his mistakes. He makes these threats when your house is already ripped up, knowing you have no choice but to stay the course because locking in another contractor to do the job properly could take months. Reading other women reviewers note he said the same thing to them is incredibly validating because it was our lived experience. We ended up switching to another contractor who is WONDERFUL! They were here every single day, only worked with reliable subs, and went above and beyond. They have become close friends! And they are continually perplexed at why we put up with Lyons' shoddy work for as long as we did. They are STILL fixing his team's mistakes months later. Finally, the excuses! We initially hired Lyons during Covid so some delays were definitely excusable. If a sub got Covid, of course we could appreciate that they would not come on site, but the litany of excuses for why Nick could not be on site, why a contractor got to be on site, why he skipped in-person meetings without warning, grew to be quite extensive. Some of the excuses were quite tragic and we told Nick to take all the time he needed to deal with those situations, but then they grew, and grew and grew, to the point where we had no choice but to part ways. We flagged all of this for Chubb. I see one reviewer noted AAA removed Lyons after noting customer complaints and Nick Lyons was padding billing by 3X. I'm not sure if Chubb has removed Lyons Restoration from their contractor list but they should. And fast. I wouldn't wish his "work" on my worst enemy. Lyon Restoration was very supportive through my smoke damage claim. Nick explained the process in detail and helped to clarify my questions and concerns. Randy was my onsite team leader and was friendly and very helpful. The cleaning was thorough and fast. The place looks great and the smoke smell odor is gone. The carpets look better than they have in years. They took special care of fragile items and everything was returned to their proper places and set up in order. They also provided detailed documentation on items that were not cleanable to my insurance so I could claim the items as a loss. Professional and caring, I'd use them again and refer them. read more

Chris Pambid did an amazing job drying out my place while he thoroughly explained every step of it and why what he did was necessary - he even commented on how other contractors overcharge for the same scope of work as I didn't quite understand why someone else wanted to put 6 more pieces of equipment into the same room. Additionally, he helped me deal with the painful insurance claim process and avoid traps they set out. As I didn't have prior experience working with insurance adjusters (especially those involving large losses), they would've tricked me into accepting a low offer - which stood at 40% of what was then recovered without a public adjuster. read more

My experience with Lyon Restoration wasn't as pleasant as some of the other reviewers, unfortunately. I had no choice but to work with them as they were the preferred vendor for the HOA in my building. They were hired to complete repairs in our unit after we had extensive water damage. A few weeks in, one of the technicians I was working with, fell sick, so I was left to work with Nick, Donna and Robbie. Unfortunately, none of them were even close to being responsive. I wasn't getting any updates from them whatsoever. I had to call them repeatedly to get anything done. The material orders were delayed and I didn't get get the right samples I was looking for.The installation schedule would get delayed without any explanation. I was being patient with them considering these are unprecented times. Even so, the customer service was extremely poor. What was supposed to get done in 4-6 weeks is taking longer than 3 months. It's been a total of 8 months since I've been dealing with the damage and the repairs and its been really frustrating. Absolutely unprofessional! I am never working them again and I do not recommend working them at all. read more

I hope my experience is an outlier because I want to support small businesses but I did not have a great experience with this company such that people might benefit from a heads up what to look out for in a situation like mine. I hired them since they were contracted with my insurance AAA, to handle an air conditioner leak that caused mold and also re-wet old rat feces and urine in my attic cavities, resulting in "class III" hazardous water dripping through my son's bedroom ceiling. Please understand the guys actually on site were nice and tried hard. But I ended up firing them because of the overall management of the project and specifically the refusal to remove moldy plywood after they told me they would, their refusal to expose and treat the wettened areas between plywood and joists, and their refusal to remove enough materials to mitigate all the rat urine and feces that had been affected. They refused to guarantee their work would clear final air testing. They found a rat skeleton and still would not remove enough. They also didn't think ahead to what needed to be done to remove all the wet area and left me with an emergency to get my furnace removed and out of the way. They stopped work having not informed me with any forethought to arrange that or make arrangements themselves. I, not they, found an HVAC company to come out and we lost a couple more days with wet hazardous materials still sitting in my attic. Regarding the mitigation work, I felt very uneasy. The owner Nick told me one thing one day and then changed it another day, and I did not feel trust in this situation. When I tried to discuss the issues with scope of work/guarantee/billing, he threatened to quit rather than work out a solution or deal directly with the issue (ladies, you'll recognize the "sounds like you are unhappy with me, perhaps we should leave this job" responses from someone who wants to make you feel like the problem for wanting to talk something over). He left me with a warning that he planned to bill more than my insurance coverage and conditioned his continuation on the planned schedule, on my agreeing to pay an unknown amount for more than the insurance would cover. I called in a second opinion and that company fully validated all of my concerns. They came in and removed much more, and did beautiful work (Clean-Tec). Their billing was transparent and reasonable. They easily stayed within the insurance coverage limits. They treated a much larger area for less than Lyon indicated it would charge. Whereas Lyon would not guarantee their work would pass air clearance tests, the new company did provide a guarantee of their work and was able to pass air clearance with no problem. Folks, definitely get a guarantee on the mitigation work or you may find yourself billed directly for more work that exceeds your insurance limits. I asked all along that Lyon send me their billing, they said no we only send it to insurance and don't "deal" with the homeowner. I asked for the bills anyway and have a right to it. Even after they stopped work when I switched to a different company, I still never got the bill. To this day, I have not seen any billing from them. The insurance adjuster said they overcharged and she contested their bill. She's also going to charge them for repairing damage to my home (below). The adjuster also told me that AAA has actually removed Lyon from their vendor program entirely, because of poor experiences with billing where AAA thought Lyon was padding bills even 3x the expected amount, including billing issues in my case. Folks, trust your gut. I believe Lyon also caused damage to my home and I was told by AAA that the insurance agrees with me and Lyon will have to pay for repairs. A less than one year old wooden stair riser was cracked and the edge fell off completely, luckily no one fell down the stairs. Another riser is dented right below the crack. Stairs were not protected at all and I would guess a piece of heavy equipment like their dehumidifier could have caused the damage. The tape they used throughout the mitigation area also was WAY too strong and in trying to remove it, it pulled off a piece of wooden door frame and stripped the finish off several planks of oak floor. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about Lyon Restoration. Unfortunately, our home experienced smoke damage from the CZU Lightning Fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I called Nick and spoke with him immediately. He walked me through my MANY questions and was very easy to work with. He met my husband at our home for the initial inspection, and even came back AGAIN at the request of my insurance company (State Farm, they are TERRIBLE, but that is for a different review). Nick submitted quotes in a timely manner and answered every question, text and phone call I had. We have almost been displaced from our home for two months now, so I ultimately went with a different company due to State Farm being very inflexible. However, I know that had I stuck it out with State Farm I would have gotten the BEST service from Lyon Restoration. Nick is extremely knowledgeable, do not hesitate to contact him for any of your questions. At one point when I asked him about smoke odor removal he even sent me several links with information about the different types of odor removal out there (ozone, hydroxyl chlorine, etc.). I am sorry that I wasn't able to have the job done by Nick's company as I can tell his is very thorough and takes great pride in his work. I had very bad experience with this company. The Lyon Restoration was hired by my insurance . They supposed to do the water mitigation and restoration of my two bathrooms. They did the water mitigation in a timely manner, removed my cracked bathtub and partially slabs on the walls. Then I have been waiting for another month as someone will contact me for finishing their job. My attempts to contact them was unsuccessful. I email Nick- the manager with previous several attempts calling him with no luck. Called them and sent them multiple emails: to Robbie S. -assistant manager with no response. I had scheduled vacation in July and I was planning to visit my daughter , but I was waiting for Lyon Restoration to schedule an appointment. No appointment or contact was made. I should have gone for my one week vacation if I only knew they will do nothing. I have to intervene with theirs higher authorities before Robbie started to respond on my emails. When I called her apparently she was on the phone for three hours , and she couldn't call me back. I just wanted to know what was their plan , when possibly they will start to restore my bathroom. The only one person respond on my phone calls was Donna the secretary, kudos to her, but unfortunately she cannot inform me what is the plan . After two months of struggling with this company , I have to switch to the other construction company because it was to stressful for me awaiting for their response with no communication from them.
