I visited the city and was excited to try Crawfish Hole #2 after hearing great things, but…read moreunfortunately, they were closed on Mondays. I turned to Yelp for another option and came across Crawfish Palace.
Since I was dining alone, I chose to sit at the bar and ordered the 3-pound special, which included crawfish, corn, and a potato for $28.99. To be honest, I didn't find that to be much of a deal, but I went with it. I also noticed that the price is cheaper for takeout, though I'm not sure why there's a price difference between dining in and taking it to go. Regardless, I wanted to get out of my hotel, take a break from work, and enjoy a good meal, so I opted to eat there.
I also ordered a beer to go with my crawfish since, to me, it's the perfect combo. My total came to $36, and after tipping, I spent about $40--yet I still left feeling hungry.
My biggest concern was that I really don't believe I was served a full three pounds of crawfish. The crawfish were quite small, which I understand since it's still early in the season, but the portion didn't seem to match what I ordered. The seasoning was decent, and the crawfish tasted fresh, but they didn't have any butter available--they had apparently been out for two days. That was disappointing, as I enjoy dipping my crawfish in butter while eating.
Service-wise, my waitress was friendly, but the rest of the staff didn't seem too welcoming--no one looked particularly happy to be there. Unfortunately, I left still feeling hungry and unsatisfied. Given the portion size, lack of butter, and overall experience, I'm not sure if I would return.
