GOING NATIVE HERE!!! To experience the beauty & culture of the Ifugao (Mountain) province,…read moreCordillera region of the Philippines, we decided to avoid the populated Poblacion (town center), Banaue, and choose a more serene site for rest. Why come to this region of the Philippines? It's the location of the Ifugao Rice Terraces, one of seven MAN MADE Wonders of The World! The view here is actually of the Hapao Hungduan Rice Terraces, and it is GORGEOUS! The weather here is VERY different than the rest of the Philippines, much cooler & less humid than the rest of the country, (although the locals say the weather pattern is changing, getting hotter in the summer months). Easy access to the Banaue & Hapao Rice Terraces, but about an hour away from Batad & Bangaan Terraces.
This isn't your typical "Inn" though. Here, we get the chance to sleep in AUTHENTIC Ifugao Native Houses, with seven to choose from. Each with electricity but no air conditioning, which isn't used commonly in this region. ONE Centralized bathroom & showers with hot water, though. ;) Quiet time starts at 8pm. Really not much to do at night here and any of the local "towns," anyways. It's pretty dead, actually as this is basically a farming community. The local river roars in the distance that creates a lulling noise to ease you to sleep. They do offer mosquito nets & mosquito oil electric plug-ins to help the concerns for irritating bites, yet wasn't much of a concern during our stay in November. But, mornings & breakfast views are the REAL appeal here. BEAUTIFUL views with lotsa green seen with minimum human development other than the Rice Terraces in this view. The staff is quietly friendly, always smiling, and take care of the Inn concerns & guests quite skillfully. Solid crew! Tasty Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here.
This was definitely one of the highlights of my family's visit, but my mother in law wasn't as keen on the uneven steps on the grounds, the steps up each house, and the distance to the shared bathroom. The views were what made the difference for her cuz she wasn't diggin' it when we first arrived at night lol! Still, an easy recommendation for those lookin' for something cool & out of the ordinary :)
Just so you know, To get to this region, Google Maps isn't gonna help you. Those trying to drive to this Inn on their own with Google, were way off course. Our guide, Rems Tarlit (+63 908 358 8417, not connected to Inn) was an awesome source of knowledge of the Northern Luzon region and its history. This friendly English speaking chap also is an easy recommendation ;)
