He is located on the Costco premises, which is very convenient. I'm a huge Costco fan; therefore, I have much ease and confidence in the optometrist they allow to work on their premises. And...as expected, Dr. Schwartz was wonderful, including his assistant. They were a bit busy when I arrived to only make an appointment (after shopping at Costco, of course). Without hesitation Dr. Schwartz jumped right in to assist his assistant with helping the customers. It seems most people were making appointments or needed a printout of some sort. I really like seeing teamwork in an effort to make sure customers are provided the best possible service with the least amount of time of having to wait. On my appointment day I was greeted with a smile and warm welcoming. Dr. Schwartz made me feel comfortable in that he was very personable, professional, thorough, and approachable in answering all my questions with much patience and thoroughness. It's also convenient that you can select your new frames (I think Bardstown Rd selection is better than Norton Healthcare Bv) in the optical department at a great, super price. And, if you don't have your eye prescription with you the optical department can look it up - awesome! After filling frames with new prescription and you're not completely satisfied (I.e., not seeing very well w/ new prescription), Costco will re-do the prescription (with second trip to optometrist to re-do exam) if all this transpires within 90 days of the 1st prescription being filled. He is HONEST and won't try to encourage a patient to purchase something they don't need. He has a wonderful display of frames and lenses to choose from should someone desire a single provider for all of their vision needs or wants, but he and his staff doesn't "market" his products. A BEAUTIFUL office, very timely exams with well-spaced appointments, and a full staff that will go above and beyond to research your insurance benefits in your best interest. You will never feel rushed when he walks into the room. He takes as much time as you need to address any concerns and is very personable and a joy to visit with! The best thing is that he is always ACCURATE in his diagnoses and won't hesitate to immediately refer out if he feels like you need to see someone in a higher specialty than he feels qualified for (such as an ophthalmologist or other M.D.), before making several visits with him first. He maintains that doctor-patient bedside manner that seems to have evaded so many providers of all specialties since he chooses to work independently as opposed to joining a large high-profit focus group -- and the offers have been extended to him, I'm sure, because of his highly competent reputation. They charge a premium contact lens fitting fee which is a joke as they do nothing but give you a pair of trial lenses. On top of all this is the bait and switch they pull on the brand of contacts. The trial lenses that I got were not the same as what was out on my prescription. Surprise surprise what they put on my prescription was much higher priced than what I was given with trial lenses.

The tall curly headed flake that does pre-exam tests made measurement errors resulting in a wrong prescription that caused eye pain for two weeks before an exam at another company corrected the error. Dr Holly Koopman made this experience the best I have ever had. She is very nice, professional, and upbeat personality made a real positive experience. This review is nothing against the quality of medical care. However, this office is needs to be…read morecompletely retrained. Customer service, empathy or concern for actually following their own established policies seems to be selective. At the very minimum the staff is rude and biased. At the horrendously worst they are racially judgmental. Speaking very calm I was told that I was getting loud and angry. Immediately I was told that no longer discussion was warranted and that I needed to talk to the office manager due to my "heated and loud" demeanor. I deal in conflict management daily at my job and even informed the clerk that I was displeased at the situation, but that a disagreeing perspective does not equate to loud or even angry in tone. I have had mixed experiences with the staff during my 15 plus years of treatment, but have never been treated like this. There generally has been a feeling of greater than thou or elitism instead of an everyone is welcome attitude. I at first equated that to having government insurance. I now have exceptional corporate insurance and treatment was not any different. I would have left and went elsewhere a long time ago if not for the care I received from my doctor. Dr. Woodruff has always been incredibly kind and caring. However, I will not be stereotyped. I am the very last to bring classism, race or any other type of prejudiced accusations into a situation unjustly but today's experience was putrid. To the office's credit, I could have been seen and dealt with the attitudes if I myself had been to my appointment exactly on time or early. That is on me. I fully take that responsibility. Oh well. I may make a BBB complaint as well but there are plenty other eyecare facilities. My treatment will have to be postponed for another month or so and I am thankful it wasn't excessively, medically urgent. Except for possibly picking up my records; I will NOT be back her again. Sad.
