I'm guessing there may have been a bit of a communication breakdown somewhere and I suspect it was between his ears. I'm guessing it was more an issue of him not understanding everything. My recommendation is: a) bring your problem to Brian, b) have him look at it, diagnose it, and then give you repair options/prices, c) have him fix it.
