Lyft TOS states: "We do not warrant that your use of the Lyft Platform or Services will be - accurate, - complete, - reliable, - current, - secure, - uninterrupted, - always available, or - error-free, or - will meet your requirements." [bullet points mine] Uber does not have anywhere near the same disclaimer, except that it also states riders should check information in the app for accuracy. I was on my way to MingHin Cuisine. I chose a destination that the Lyft app provided, but the listing turned out to be inaccurate to a confusing degree (the correct street name and correct general area, but a couple of miles from the real MingHin). This inaccurate listing does not appear at all in Uber or in Google Maps, so I have no idea how Lyft generates its destination data. I filed a complaint. I asked for a partial refund because I had to change the destination when the driver was ready to drop me off in the middle of no where, and was charged extra, for essentially an error in the Lyft app. If customer service had promised to look into the error, in addition to explaining that I wasn't eligible for a refund, I probably would have let it go. Instead, they explicitly blamed me, and refused to acknowledge that there was an erroneous listing in the app at all. It took a complaint to BBB and two more customer service reps before I finally got someone to say they would look into it. Unbelievable, blaming a customer for trusting the service. Even more unbelievable, not immediately promising to make the app better for other customers and guarantee the same issue doesn't come up again. read more

May 12, 2021 To Whom It May Concern: On Thursday, April 29th, 2021, I had started requesting rides from Lyft drivers at 10:35 am to get from my home in Midlothian, Illinois to Palos Medical Group in Orland Park, Illinois at 11:30 am. Normally, there is a simple process, I request, the driver accepts, and we get from my house to the doctor's office in about 40 minutes barring any traffic beyond our control. Unfortunately, on the 29th, it was ANYTHING, but normal! In the 30 minutes from 10:35 am to 11:05 am, I was accepted by and then dropped by at least 3 Lyft drivers for unknown reasons. Each one would take a 5-to-10-minute drive toward my house and then cancel. I had NEVER seen anything like this before. Once it got around 11:05 am, I had to make an emergency call to my doctor's office and my retired friend from church who, luckily, was able to take me to the appointment. Even with that though, the doctor was kind enough to see me 25 minutes late. We got to the office around 11:55 am. Remember, the travel from my house to the doctor's office is about 40 minutes. It has been almost a week now since this has happened. At first, I was going to file formal complaints with "everyone under the sun," but now after dealing with work and other significant issues, I am not sure what I want to do anymore, or if anyone can investigate what happened. Some of this is writing therapy now. It is truly working. Beyond this, I will publish my report, but I am having trouble deciding where to post it. Should I use my blog, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, or some other social media account to spread the word? As a legally blind person, dependent on some form of public or ride-sharing program, it truly put my body into a state of distress. Addendum from a newer ride on Friday, May 7th, 2021. While trapped at my place of employment while my wife was admitted to the hospital, I had NO CHOICE, but to call for a ride. This time, I used the priority rate. My suspicion, based on my conversation with the OUTSTANDING driver, was that when I did paid priority he was TAKEN away from another passenger by the system and sent to me because I offered an extra $5 or so. (see pictures below) TALK ABOUT SYSTEMATIC DISCRIMINATION! All passengers should be treated equally! Even those hiring the Limo services and others on the higher end deserve the same respect as those needing a five-minute ride home because they are otherwise stranded for whatever reason! This ride and the screenshots to go with have greatly educated me on how this discrimination is created, executed, and perpetuated. Now the question becomes, how do we stop it, and when will enough people stand up and say NO!!!! Finally, for those Uber drivers reading this letter, DO NOT think that "...you are the saviors of everybody's souls here in Beaumont." (Footloose, 1984) I could easily be writing a similar paper about how I was forced out of an Uber car by the driver after the system told the driver to take me twenty blocks farther north than was requested. The driver's final words were "get out, I have to go pick up another ride!" This all happened with another passenger in the car. Too bad, I did not think of taking screenshots that day. In case Uber is interested in getting to the bottom of what happened, the date was on or around January 31st, 2020. It was a short ride request from professional development at a school located near 103rd Street by the Red Line to 87th and Halsted. In the end, I am forced out of the car at 63rd and Halsted by the hospital and must walk to the Red Line to either head to work or my wife's office where she works with five lawyers who know other lawyers. Uber, your problem could be two-fold, systemic and personnel. Lyft, your problem seems to be purely systematic. The solution is to simplify the system. Get rid of the "cutting in line" and serve people as they come. Hopefully, some form of rectification can be found for such an unacceptable event. POS company! You might like it if your a rider but they a TERRIBLE to their drivers. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE PHONE NUMBER A DRIVER CAN CALL FOR ANY ASSISTANCE. EVEN IF YOU GOT ROBBED! They waste your money, time and most of all energy.. if you have any sort of issue with them do not expect any resolution. Your only option to contact someone is to do a "chat" which takes a bit half the time. And when a real rep does finally come on one of two things ALWAYS happen. 1. They say "give me a few minutes to look over your issue" and then they never reply. In fact they leave almost immediately and close the chat. 2. If they actually do reply, it takes forever and they expect you to sit by your phone to reply. If you don't reply immediately they close the chat. There is just so much wrong with this company that it's hard to list everything. They still can't figure out who owes me money for the reimbursement they said I am supposed to get because their rental broke down on me two times that I had to leave it at Firestone a total of 36 hours.. Oh, and when a guy attacked me and grabbed my bag out of the front seat and ran off I couldn't even get the information of the rider to file a police report. I believe Uber is larger and more well known, but I heard bad things about them, from both passengers and a few drivers, so the 1st time I needed a ride, I chose Lyft. I used Lyft 6 times in a 4 day span, and had NO problems! Here are my likes: 1) I love the app. It is easy to download and navigate. You choose the type of ride you want, enter your pickup location and destination and get a price quote. Once they locate a driver in your area they tell you how long it will be and it's always been just a matter of minutes. I also like that in addition to the driver's picture and overall rating, they give you an actual picture of the car to look for, not just the make and model like Uber does. This makes it so much easier. 2) Every car I've had has been newer (which is a requirement for both) and clean! 3) I like that you have the option to tip on the app. Uber originally discouraged tipping and now they encourage it, but only in cash. This is a hassle because I don't always have cash or small bills. The Lyft app makes it easy. 4) Leaving rating and feedback is very easy. 5) You get an emailed receipt within minutes. When traveling for business, this is appreciated! 6) Finally, all of the drivers I've had have been nice and friendly. Several mentioned that they drove for both Uber and Lyft and prefer Lyft. They also pay their drivers more. (They take out a smaller percentage). That makes me like them more. The only downside I noted is that during peak or "surge" hours, you might pay more than usual for a particular trip. But again, you can enter your pickup location and destination and get a quote at any time. I'm not a fan of cabs and their ridiculous money sucking meters plus all the fees! I prefer the Lyft experience much more. It's usually less expensive and more personalized. And how convenient. At 24 hours, I even got a ride to the airport at 4 am, within 10 minutes once. Tried Lyft (the car with the pink mustache) for the first time with my husband while we were vacationing in Chicago a few weeks ago. We needed a ride from the John Hancock Tower to Lou Malnati's for a late lunch. And being that it was windy (they don't call this the "windy city" for nothing) and cold outside, we needed car transportation to get us there. My husband had some free credits for Lyft and decided to try them. So he looked on his app for a driver and decided to request for one from this one young man (unfortunately I do not recall his name). The reason why my husband requested this driver was because he had reduced his rate (if you haven't used Lyft yet, each driver can choose to charge their own rate). While we waited, my husband was able to track where our driver was on the app. When he arrived, we got into the car (which was clean). Then he drove us to the restaurant. The driver told us that when he is looking for the person who called for a ride, he tries to find the person who looks like their profile photo and also for someone that may be looking for a car. This driver was friendly and made our ride with him a nice one. I now that your experience will be different from mine and your review will be based on that experience. But for this first time trying out Lyft, I thought it was convenient and easy to do. We encountered no problems and may consider using Lyft when I am on vacation or even back at home in the future. read more

The drivers didn't seem to know the best ways to get from Point A to Point B, even taking into account the one-way streets. One Lyft driver was very pleasant, three others were super confused, and one just flat out never showed up but claimed he picked us up (wut?). So beware! Hi folks, On 5/4/18 I took my first lyft ride to the vet center. My first ride was with a very pleasant young lady. She arrived as scheduled and the trip was uneventful. When I left the vet center I waited for the driver that was suppose to be there but wasnt, or at least I couldn't find him. I phone pings and there is a message alerting me that they were charging me a 5.00 no show fee. I order an other lyft and he arrives no prblem. I get home and after 15 minutes of looking I finally find a service related text complaint app. I tell them I need a refund of 5 bucks because they're the no show, not me. Lyft is horrible. Their customer service is horrific, having no one you are able to talk to. I was charged $80 for a "damage fee" when we accidentally left a plastic cup and hamburger bun behind. I understand that this is wrong and we should have cleaned up. However, on their Terms of Service website shows that this should have been a charge of $20. There was really no spills or damage to the car and this was a 30 second pick up. They did not listen to me on their dumb text support and will not refund me any money for leaving a tiny bit of trash behind, which I'm sure many people accidentally. Our driver, Amin is a scammer and just wants to up-charge us to get more money when he probably took a few seconds to clean up those 2 things we left behind, and required no true "cleaning" with supplies or anything. One Lyft driver was very rude in this area. There were also great drivers during my stay. that same day, another driver told me he couldn't get to my pick up spot bc he didn't know where it was. He had a thick accent so I'm guessing reading signs in English was the issue and why he couldn't figure out where we were even though it was not far away. I asked him if he could text since even w/ my phone on max volume, my mom and I had a hard time hearing him and it was so frustrating w all the noise. He didn't respond to that request when I repeated it, but would just pause and insist he couldnt find our location. I repeated myself several times. My family thought it was a scam in retrospect. We were tourists. We stayed on the phone going in circles for over 10. So frustrating. I understand immigrants trying to make it and taking whatever job they can to stay in the US but you need to be able to do the job. I have used Lyft in Chicago for nearly two years, and for most part it has been a very pleasant experience except for today, when I had an extremely rude driver. I had just finished grocery shopping with 7 bags of newly bought food. I asked her to take me to my back stairs of my apartment building which is right on the alley behind my building. I live in a U shaped building, am a senior citizen, (63 years old), and from the street, I would have to carry all 7 bags down a long courtyard to the back of the building. She was extremely rude and even called me selfish, because I wasn't considering her expense for replacing tires because they would be wrecked by driving in alleys!! (Yes, really). My major complaint, however, is that Lyft provides no means of discussing your complaint with a real live human being. Their help web site provides no contact number, but rather a form to fill out. I really prefer to speak to someone. I did find their contact number from Google, but when you call it, all it says is to go to the help web site and then disconnects. This is extremely poor customer service. I am wondering if this is purposely done to discourage complaints, or that they got rid of their phone support staff to save costs. Either way, this is very poor customer service, and really puts a huge black mark against Lyft in my mind. Uber, here I come. read more

My driver was 19 minutes away, and his car was not moving after 30min! Here's the story: I waited over 30 minutes, and the driver still was not moving, and still showed 19min away. I tried calling the driver-- the first time he did not pick up, and the second time he replied with a "Sorry, I can't talk right now." text. Then, I tried to find a Lyft phone number and could not. I emailed Lyft, and it took significant time for the agent to reply. When the agent did reply much later, the agent was very helpful and professional and made sure I was not charged-- However, I felt unsupported and uncared for while waiting for this driver for so long, while his car did not move and Lyft was impossible to get hold of. This was a real disappointment after previous good experiences. In general, I'm a fan of Lyft over other services, but this didn't measure up. read more

DO NOT USE LYFT! I've used them several times, but no more! This was not the first time I got a hostile, belligerent, argumentative, rude driver who had no idea where he was going. We got to the last leg of my trip and he takes me to a bus station and says that's my destination. NO, it was not! He then kept making right and left turns, not knowing where he was. What was worse, he didn't want to even try to figure out the problem. I kept saying "what street is this?" because it was hard for me to read the signs with my bad eyesight. First experience using through Hertz to get to my repair shop via my insurance. Unless you have LYFT app on your phone you cannot call the driver if you miss him. They text you- they do NOT call you when your driver that was ordered is arriving. So have your phone out. He only waits about 5 minutes and if you are not ready you miss him. My 1st driver very nice and helped me understand how to access Union Station- waited to make sure I got in. Michael - very helpful after a harrowing day. It is fast and be ready. They will say your Lyft has been ordered and will arrive soon.., and give you a description of the car, license # and driver name. They will text you when is there. I have been taking Lyft for 3 weeks straight to work(thank god its close to home) due to a foot fracture & I'm on crutches. Well my phone fell out my pocket & I knoticed 5 minutes later, by that time the driver stated that he was across town & could not come back, plus he was starting his regular job by 10:30 & would not get off until 10pm tonight. Tonight I was standing at the address and notified my driver had arrived for a non-shared ride for which they should wait 5 minutes. I immediately called the driver to inquire her location since it wasn't at the requested address. She ignored my call and then cancelled the ride, meaning it was about a 15 minute delay to request and wait for another car. This has happened to me multiple times - far more than on Uber, who I use more frequently. There is no way on the Lyft app or website to give feedback, so this practice has no implication on a driver's record, allowing them to continue doing it. Use Uber! read more

My friend was assaulted a few days ago during her Lyft ride, by her driver in the Chicago area, Luis. She dozed off for a few minutes and he immediately pulled into a dead end, took her phone, cancelled the ride and attempted to assault her. She woke up in time to kick him off of her and run, however he sped away (with her phone) too fast for her to get the plate number. Lyft has been absolutely no help in resolving this incident, even in cooperating with the police. I want to put this story out there in as many places as I can to let people know that Lyft, (and im sure, other rideshare companies) are not as safe as they seem. Can be less than regular taxi Disadvantages 1. Some cars reek of smoke 2. Getting specific pickup directions to driver can be a pain if the address is funky. Yes, you can call but that does not always help. Trust me, I live at a funky place 3. Some drivers do not know the city and cannot work around construction and traffic issues so its up to you to navigate (I'd rather drive then) Yes, I use Lyft and I count on them. I guess that goes with the territory. **Accessibility Thoughts** Lyft accessibility is heavily dependant on the driver. Some will get out and help-Gladly, Happily. and with a Smile- others sit and expect that you can stow your equipment. As each driver uses their own vehicle, cars are not standardized.
